WAC: Waalx Animals & Creatures v1.0 Additional Files

About This File

WACBeta01.jpg

About WAC on TES Alliance:

Currently Waalx is off in the real world crossing the globe and experiencing the grand adventure that is life! :simba: He managed to stop in to grant permission for his project to be hosted away from his forum which is now closed to new registrations so that WAC, in it's current unfinished state, could still be enjoyed by players. Somewhere down the traveled road, he may pop in to update the mod with the work he has stored on his PC, but until that time if and when, we will be hosting the beta version here with all the same documentation provided by Waalx himself.

Currently, WAC may NOT be used as resource material. Waalx has stated his desire that any derivative works must require/be dependant on WAC. Anyone wishing to use resource material from WAC without dependancy, must contact Waalx and ask permission; no contact made means no permission. This is his latest statement on Resource use as of 26 Aug 2012

About the permission to use WAC material as resources, that still bug me even now. WAC is it's own resource and product. As soon as it start to be taken apart it will cease to be what it was made to be, that is, something that can stand on it's own. It was meant to be an alternative to the other overhauls out there, not to be taken apart and used in other projects. Oblivion is over 6 years old game now. The craze is gone. The remaining mod authors shouldn't try to leach older project if they want to do something, but make their own NEW stuff. I guess most hardcore Oblivion player now may have seen what I did. Re-using my stuff isn't going to make it as if you're making new things; WAC have been out there for years already.

I always said that if you want to use WAC stuff you can as long as the new mod is based on WAC as a platform. That still stand. It's still the best options as then it allow people to use EVERYTHING that is in WAC, and that's a lot of stuff and a lot of things to choose from. And now that WAC will probably be released elsewhere it's still a very good option I think. Anyway, that's my point of view on the matter. What happen next is a matter of the other people integrity on this. I've worked over 2 years on that thing, it still trouble me to think that it would be ripped apart and become something that was in opposition to my initial intention.

Hey. I managed to download the file with Firefox + Download manager (after 10+ failed attempts with chrome and firefox), but whenever I try to extract the file either with 7Z or WinRAR, I get "broken file" errors for pretty much everything in the package. Any ideas for solution? I really want to play this mod.

@HeyYou Hi. FYI, I'm getting reports from Bevliex's Modlist users that this download is broken. When I tried it with FF, I'm just getting an index.php file trying to be downloaded, and if I pop the download URL into Free Download Manager, I get a 403 Forbidden server error.

I was able to start the download with Pale Moon, it finished, but was corrupted.

Once I set Free Download Manager to start from within the browser (FF v57.0.1 x64), it downloaded it splendidly, and the archive appears intact. Do you happen to have a CRC for the archive I can check it against?

I think the problem with with FDM downloading from within the program itself via link to the download location has to do with the site trying to verify there's no CSRF going on, and not receiving a valid CSRF token in the http header.

Could the problems with the downloads be that the server isn't receiving the CSRF token in the header of some packets when the local machine responds with packets received? Wonder if this is why some downloads stop abruptly, some never start, and some are "corrupted"? In this case, my guess would be enough packets are missing that ECC can't correct for them. It's also very possible that some users are running add-ons that are blocking the cookies from being able to put a CSRF token in the header. uMatrix & RequestPolicy I believe are known to do that. I'm running uBlock origin (uMatrix breaks too many things for me to bother with), but I disabled it for TESA, as a matter of course for sites I trust or want to be able to generate ad revenue. Wonder if that's why I'm able to get this & Insanity's Armory to download when so many others are not..?

@everybody: If you're having problems, please post which browser you're using (including version!!), if you've tried a download manager, and if you're running any privacy/cross site request forgery type add-ons such as uBlock, uMatrix, RequestPolicy, etc. Thx

At one time, we were suggesting the use of a download manager, as that did indeed seem to actually work. I don't see a CRC value in the properties, and the rest of what you are talking about is WAY beyond me. :D

Might wanna tag @DarkRider as well.

Okay. I ran several tests last night with various browsers, add-ons, configs, etc. All attempts without a download manager failed. When I used Free Download Manager via browser (only), I was able to get both Insanity's Armory & WAC on the very first try. FDM uses 10 connections on this site to download, and constantly reuses those connections once groups of packets are received. I'm guessing other download managers that act in the same manner will work. The browser or its platform (e.g., Chromium) doesn't seem to matter. Nor do the changes to FF from v55+, as PaleMoon exhibited the same behavior. Interesting.

Download issue should be resolved now, but please report if you’re still having trouble grabbing the file :salute:

The download stops after a few minutes and spits out a corrupt zip file. It's only about a 10th of the size of the full file. Weird, I usually don't have any issues with downloading large files, this is the only one giving me any trouble.

I can confirm. I am having the same problem and only seem to be having it here with this file. I routinely download files 2-3 times this size on other sites without issue...perhaps host it on a mirror?

Hello.  This file doesn't appear to be capable of downloading... Because this is sadly the only place where WAC is allowed to be hosted, is there any way you could resolve this, or even send it to via PM?  I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to use what sounds like the perfect overhaul for what I'm looking for gameplay and atmosphere-wise.  Thanks.

Hello I'm just wondering if I should download and install the OverSpawnSeries, I'm guessing the other files are fixes but one of those has an overly similar version (WAC - ItemLootFix4v1.0b(20120318).7z and WAC - ItemLootFix4v1.0b(20120601).7z ) should I download both of them? thanks in advance!

Hello, can somebody please mod this and host it somewhere else to remove all the other overhauls and only keep the added creatures?

That would violate the authors posted permissions, Waalx does not wish for WAC to be carved up by other modders.

oh? what kind of intellectual property rights do game mods hold?

the EULA probably mentions something about it being worthless and/or property of bethesda

Look, mate, your best luck with this is to learn some Oblivion modding skills and do it yourself, because no modder would be willing to p**s on someone else's work by going against his wishes and posting it online.

i dont understand this logic and who initiated it, and why everyone follows this logic without question. its a bit unnerving. and that is being polite about it.

but the point of designing a mod, publicly at least, is so others may enjoy it

that certainly includes others copying or editing your content. that is the entire point of a video game mod and releasing it publicly. but someone decided to try and haphazardly apply some kind of mysterious, unnecessary rule which everyone just blindly follows without question, to where video game mods are sacred content with super special permission required by the author.

once you do free work for a video game, then release it publicly, its asinine to expect it to be protected in any sense.

of course, i certainly understand the logic behind this super sacred rule.

simply put, its to promote the environment of content and to preserve hard work.

but there is a cost to this... strange how nobody thinks of this cost...

i really dont wish to make this post longer than it should be. i can really sit here and type all day on this subject alone.

but here is the shortest way i can put it..

imagine this silly rule never existed,

realistically imagine this.  where mod authors had absolutely no expectation of their work being protected in any sense.

how much of the modding scene would be different? specifically how many total mods for any given video game would we have? virtually the same amount, minus only a few (very few) select, how you say, 'eccentric' authors (again being polite here).

now try and imagine the added benefit gained by not following the orders of this one person who imposed this needless rule.

simply one of the many benefits would be having the freedom to host the mod anywhere, better preserving it across the internet and specifically not being exclusive to a single website which tries to monopolize the modding scene (nexus)

by the way, have you noticed how nexus has transformed over the years? whoever controls that site has more than a few issues with decision making. and once again that is putting things politely.

im honestly trying to stay as far away from criticism as i can,  the point of this post is to incite discussion

Mod authors hold copyright on their work. This debate has been hashed, re-hashed, and re-re-hashed, more often than I can count. You respect mod author written permissions, or you get banned. That's it.

Downloaded this years back on Waalx's old site; Im glad its here for all to use for years more to come! I use it as a creature/monster replacer. For example Arthmoor's Tamriel Immersion Experience mod, I replace some animals like cats, wolves, hogs, horses, with the critters in this pack. With that being said I don't upload anything anywhere. I just do it whenever I feel like installing Oblivion. This mod is beautiful, such love went into it....Im sad though it was abandoned, but at least we can still play with it ^_^!!

is there a reason this mod adds about 700 identical versions of each race? because it's making me want to ragequit. which is a shame because all i want are the dope armor/clothing meshes....which cant be released seperately, because i guess waalx isnt coming back and he's got rules against others messing w/ it

Learn to edit mods, and shuffle it to your own preferences. Just don't upload it anywhere.

Joined  to download WACv_1beta.7z

Hours later I have still not managed to download it without "incomplete" errors. Free Download Manager is just giving me 403 forbidden errors. These pretzels are making me thirsty.

Download failing no matter what. At around 501mb. Found the file else where though. Backing it up since this site looks dead already. From the comments it seems they haven't fixed the issue and it's been two years.
