HoD is one of the few real quest mods I do know of; and among those, I know it is one of the best.
I did download it from Middark’s own site (does not exist anymore or I cannot find it) and had no problems installing it. Well I did probably one thing right before installation, I did read the documentation that came with the MOD as I always do.
Playing the MOD was some hours of pure fun, this MOD is better than, I am tempted to say, all of the official Oblivion add-ons. I have to admit that I did consult the walkthrough at several occasion since the puzzles can be very time-consuming and very frustrating since mistakes end most of the time with the death of the player (save often is strongly advised).
The only thing I did not like too much is that the end forced an, in my case, unwanted companion on me. I would have preferred to have a choice on that. Players should be aware that their gameplay decides with what companion they end up.
In short, HOD is a mod that does not disappoint. I have only few MODs that always get loaded when I start a new game, the Lost Spires, Verona House Bloodlines, AFK Weye and you guess it Heart of the Dead.

I enjoyed the story of the modification and are just wishing that the modification was also available as a BAIN/OMOD ready archive. Easier to remove and better compatibility checking. In addition the ability to prepare Wrye Bash patches to improve compatibility between some modifications. Overall though a enjoyable adventure story I just wish I had been able to get the level of account sooner, I just at the time couldn't afford it.
Though my membership there is currently at life time premium level. Here it is on of the monthly non-VIP membership (others a lot higher than The Nexus), this site though does host some downloads not available on the Nexus. As well as vice versa so therefore maintaining a membership on both would be good.
But I digress, this story line works really nicely however it would have been enjoyed even more if you could start a family in it's story line.
