  1. Fair point. I'll be sure to update my Patreon so folks know they are supporting ME and the hundreds of hours I spend creating, and not the mod itself.
  2. It's coming...the best quest mod ever made. MORTAL COIL - Epic quest mod for Oblivion "Terrifyingly powerful Ayleid sorcerer king Tyras spells doom for the remaining Ayleid kingdoms of the underworld in Cyrodiil. Embark on an epic quest with the whimsical warrior Valamoor to the ancient city of Avalon to slay the tyrant. But beware, for nothing is as it seems. Along the way, you will be faced with choices you never wanted to make." Expected release date: 2020-2021 Mortal Coil is a love letter to the greatest video game RPGs and fantasy novels of all time, while also being a work of art and love requiring thousands of hours and my life force, blood, sweat and tears. Harkening back to the style and feel of character and dialog-heavy games such as Knights of the Old Republic 2 (considered the best RPG of all time), Mortal Coil deliveres an unprecedented story and art direction for any Elder Scrolls game and also draws on newer games. Mortal Coil is a novella given life. It is a short action-adventure RPG that is wildly engaging and reminiscent of books like the Amber Chronicles. It is my magnum opus, my life's work, the product of tons of experience and life lessons all birthed into a unique story with lessons unheard of in most AAA games, because of their dark and forbidden nature. With deep and interesting characters with full engaging voice acting, eye-defying visuals and art, custom animations and cutscenes hitherto unseen in an Elder Scrolls game or mod, and Fallen Order/Dark Souls-style boss battles that have been painstakingly balanced and scripted to be fun and engaging without being tedious or too difficult, Mortal Coil is... THE GREATEST OBLIVION MOD EVER MADE, and one of the greatest mods ever made. Standing in the hall of other mods such as Brotherhood of Shadow: Solomon's Revenge for KOTOR, or even Nehrim or Enderal, Mortal Coil is practically a small game in its own right that is wildly different than the game it is built upon, and yet at the same time is lore-friendly and does not contradict anything directly. For those who dare to enter here, prepare for the best video game quest mod ever made. Links: Fall of the Ayleids Nexus page Development screenshots on Twitter Support me on Patreon!
  3. For my upcoming final release of Fall of the Ayleids (https://twitter.com/FallOfTheAyleid?lang=en) now titled This Mortal Coil. The player and his Ayleid escort come across a terrifying Daedric beast, from the darkest and deepest realms of Oblivion few dare to ever conjure. My original idea for this beast was a Beholder, but I cannot seem to get ahold of anyone in the FCOM team or the Midas Magic team to get their permission to use a Beholden. I want something as close as I can get to the Lovecraftian beast, a Shoggoth: https://www.google.com/search?q=Shoggoth&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS786US786&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjb0K3Pp-PaAhURw2MKHeKPDWMQ_AUICigB&biw=1920&bih=900 Does anybody have any suggestions on existing assets that fit this description? Would somebody be willing to make a quick model of a Shoggoth?
  4. I figured it out! At long last, through painstaking nif comparison, it's very easy. Here is how it is done: 1) Open up the nif's collision 2) Click on bhkrigidbody(T) 3) Scroll down to the four modifiers that begin with Motion System. 4) Select the following options in the sliders: MO_SYS_KEYFRAMED for Motion System and MO_QUAL_KEYFRAMED for Quality Type. That's it! Now your mesh and its collision will both move appropriately, allowing you to utilize any sort of custom mesh as an elevator or moving platform. Some have said animated meshes will work...but it is only because they have these properties. There. Just solved 10 threads. Hope this helps anyone still modding Oblivion (I certainly am!)
  5. Hey guys, I'm the author of acclaimed Oblivion quest Fall of the Ayleids. I want to add a scripted elevator to my mod, but the collision does not move with the mesh! This means that the player will stand there--in thin air--while the elevator mesh moves downward. I know there are meshes that DO work, but I want to know WHY. I've looked ALL OVER THE PLACE for an explanation on how to make a mesh with moving collision. I have my own mesh, I just need to know what to tweak. Does anybody know??
  6. Bump for long overdue 4.1 release. Also new incoming stuff for this mod. Fall of the Ayleids 4.1 now being released with an optional video package. Look for it by Sunday. This makes it easier to download. Included is a little gift: a document explaining the mod for those of you who don't get the plot as it is difficult to piece together. I did not realize it at the time but looking on this mod over a year later for the first time, there is a lot more to be done and it could use some explanation. Also, for those of who you haven't gotten around to playing it yet, there is a Let's Play of Fall of the Ayleids if you want to check out the gameplay: https://www.youtube....h?v=2nGqEwfyk8A Finally, I encourage people to play this mod and post walkthroughs. I cannot, as I no longer have a PC capable of handling Oblivion (my laptop just doesn't cut it apparently), but in the works is a new trailer for the mod. Although Oblivion is very old I would still like to see Fall of the Ayleids have it's limelight, as it is a terrific story and does some things other quests don't.
  7. Thank you for the idea. Selective light spells? Geez that sounds tough. But I might try it, at least for the swords.
  8. See this? I want it to look like this. As far as I can tell this effect is called "dynamic glow" and can be found in various games, some far older than Oblivion's. Here's an example from Skyrim using ENB: http://i.imgur.com/8RlwLxF.gif And this is a good example from the game Jedi Academy: http://i.imgur.com/BXhFJ2h.gif As you can see, without the glow the textures are acting as if they are emitting 100% light, but they do NOT have the actual "glow effect." But with the glow on, everything lights up. Now, how do I do that in Oblivion, with my weapons and armors? Here's a mockup of just what this would look like. In the original, the armor and weapon are ALREADY at 100% emit in the nif and have bright yellow glowmaps...but they aren't really GLOWING. So I made an example: Before: http://i.imgur.com/KKiANY8.jpg After: http://i.imgur.com/B2AAPlF.jpg And a gif for the heck of it Holy crap! It looks like freaking Tron lights. Isn't that cool? Is there a way to do that? Oblivion's "glow" really isn't a glow at all...like I said, glow maps are just used to tell the engine to emit the texture at full light. But that does NOT make them actually light up. So...is there any way to do this? I'm all ears.
  9. Yes, Frostcrag Tower. But this mod no longer has anything to do with Frostcrag. Bump for 3.5 final release.
  10. Bump for 2.0 release, no Frostcrag. New features: New start quest New quest reward (special location) Some new and altered dialog sequences (Dremora entrance for one) Bug fixes, tweaks For those upgrading-- There WILL be issues leftover if This Mortal Crag is enabled. The new version is not really compatible. Hopefully moving forward this new version will fix the old compatibiltiy mess. Thanks everyone.
  11. Fall of the Ayleids 4.1 Readme Attention * Required: Oblivion, Knights of the Nine, Shivering Isles, OBSE * Highly recommended: Oblivion Character Overhaul 2 This mod was built around OCO. There is a patch for users who do not use OCOv2, but many characters will not look as intended. Consider using OCO2 only for the duration of the quest and removing it when you are done! * Recommended: Robert’s Male Body v5, HGEC, Initial Glow (All) * Run Tes4LODGen after installing or else certain distant objects will disappear. * Volume: It’s highly recommended to turn “Voice Volume” to 100% and to turn “Music Volume” up to about 75%, in order to hear the custom tracks included with this mod and to better hear the voice acting. Introduction There is a small Ayleid tower out in the Jerall mountains, but beneath it is an ancient city where chaos has reigned. Featuring HD Ayleids, new glowing Ayleid armors and weapons, in-game video cinematics, complex multiple endings, and complete voice acting, Fall of the Ayleids covers the story of the Overlord Tyras who, long ago, took over the ancient Ayleid city of Avalon. Now in the depths of the city there are only lifeless husks of its former inhabitants, the legacy of Tyras' work. And one Ayleid named Valamoor wants your help to stop the threat of a Dremora army. Ultimately it will all lead to a confrontation with Tyras, the most powerful Ayleid sorcerer of all time. Fall of the Ayleids is a look into deception, betrayal, power, and choice—which we always have. Previous Versions This mod is based on and uses many assets from Frostcrag Reborn, by indefiance. Frostcrag Reborn was mostly an exploration-based mod. This is a large quest that incorporates the city of Avalon from that mod, but otherwise there are no other similarities. This mod doesn’t even touch Frostcrag and you can play Frostcrag Reborn and this mod side by side. Repeat: this quest doesn’t touch Frostcrag or its landscape in any way. Previous versions of this quest were called “This Mortal Crag,” which was based on Frostcrag Tower, which was removed as Fall of the Ayleids is the spiritual successor to it and no longer requires Frostcrag. INI Tweaks: These will make lights visible from farther away, which will make the Ayleid cities prettier. But they are by no means recommended and may require higher-end machines. fLightLOD1=20000.0000 fLightLOD2=20000.0000 fSpecularLOD1=20000.0000 fSpecularLOD2=20000.0000 How to Install 1. USE NEXUS MOD MANAGER 2. Do INI tweaks 3. Tick “Fall of the Ayleids.esp” 4. Run Tes4LODGen 5. Done FAQ How do I start the quest? Be level 20+ and have beaten the main quest. Wait 24 hours. Otherwise use the “setstage fr0 5” command to start the quest without issue. The quest can also be started and completed without these conditions if you find the location on your own. I feel this is all the best way to appeal to everyone playing the mod. What’s new in version 4.0? Can I get a list of spoilers? Brand new complex ending Fall of the Ayleids ends entirely different from pre-4.0 versions. The new ending has several variations and allows for player choice, while also tying up many of the loose ends and plot holes of previous versions. Don't worry, I'm not pulling a Bioware here--you can expect a few different endings. There are some new quest rewards, Darklight has received a major visual and stat update to be a true end-game weapon, and quite frankly the new ending just actually makes a whole lot more sense. ENDGAME SPOILERS! *Darklight, 99 damage *Overlord Armor set *Overlord Steed (a summonable horse in Ayleid armor) *Portal room (allows you to return to Avalon) *Teleport to Watchtower spell (so you can use the Watchtower as a player home or the portal room) *A few easter eggs To me this is sufficient, but there've been complaints in the past that the ending was lacking. So this new version definitely remedies all of those things. Along with the new ending is a brand new beginning to the quest. Oblivion isn't very popular anymore, but I’d appreciate any comments. So if you like or hate the new ending, or anything, please be sure to let me know. Thanks! 12. Thanks guys, I took a look at NIF animating, and I didn't understand it at all from that tutorial. Anyway, I did manage to copy the collision from another mesh and create a working custom elevator mesh, so I jerry rigged it I guess. If anyone's interested, I used this mesh in my latest release, This Mortal Crag. http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/42187
