What is an English essay

One of the favorite English essays is one which describes the history of the language. The history of the English language is as complex and diverse as the history of England itself. However, it has been generally agreed that it is an Anglo-Frisian language by origin and it was at first brought to southeastern Great Britain sometime in the 5th century by Germanic tribes from northwest Germany and Jutland.

English may have been introduced to Great Britain even earlier than the 5th century, however. It is possible that this may have even happened sometime during the 2nd century. At the time, it was the practice of the Romans, during the days of their global domination, to recruit supplementary troops who were mostly of Germanic origin and post them throughout their empire. No wonder why there are so many Western European cheap essay writer today. Such troops were often stationed in Britain, which gives rise to the reason for the Germanic influence.

What is a Critical Essay

Old English developed as a consequence of this Germanic influence, but the development of English did not stop there. It further evolved because of subsequent invasions of England. Germanic tribes of Scandinavian origin and the Normans were the later invaders. As a result of the Norman Conquest the influence of French and Latin over old English was greater than the influence of the Germanic languages.

Today’s English is a pluricentric language, which has given rise to numerous versions and has more than one standard. Even within England, the place of its birth, there is more than one adaptation of the language: There is Cockney and there are other regional dialects. These differences come not only from word usage but also from dissimilarity in accents. Because of this, there is a peculiarity in the proofreading service, here you can learn more about this on the website

However, there is a Standard English in England which has a fixed grammar and pronunciation. Standard English is the accepted norm as to what constitutes accurate English. It is also the standard for English grammar and the manner in which words are pronounced.

However, while there is a Standard English for Great Britain, this standard does not relate to the different forms of the language as they are used and spoken in different parts of the world. This is not unexpected as English is used and spoken by more people in other parts of the world than in Great Britain.

In several parts of the world where English is used, the language has been modified into regional dialects. In Canada, for instance, there is Newfoundland English and the English used by Anglo-Quebecois. In the United States there is American English. There you also have African American Vernacular English. Then there is the English that is used in the south of the country.

Variety in English comes not only from regional adaptations, but also because of changes in social strata. In some societies the words used, speech patterns, grammar and so on are explicit to certain strata. This not the same as differences that come from regional influence.

People tend to involuntarily retain their original identity. This is why they retain old habits and ways even decades after moving to a new country or to a different location within a country. As a part of this identity people continue to speak in a manner that is peculiar to the place of their origin.

This is the case even within England itself. Often you do not have to be an expert in phonetics to be able to tell a person’s region of origin based on the way they speak. People continue to speak the same way as they did throughout their childhood.

From most English essays that relate to the history of the English language one fact must come out, that only a small percent of the English use Standard English. As a rule, this is only essay writer. Another fact that could also come out is that even within the British Isles you have the “English Standard English,” the “Scottish Standard English,” and the “Irish Standard English.”
