  1. NIce score! Congrats Mattai! *digs around in the cooler for another Guiness* Angel, you see any chips back there Mate? *looks under the bar* I mean REAL chips, not these crisps.
  2. *waking up groggily from a liquor induced stupor* Who's going? *looks around the room at who's lurking in the tavern and who's not* oh, Vereta. He's going on vacation... *stands up slowly, realizing the error in sleeping in the comfy tavern chair* Grond a hot mead, if you please Mate. *leans in toward Grond* I didn't do the water thing mate... *looks around suspiciously* my guess is Mattai. he's the only one drinking water and he's been awfully quiet over there... Where's Angel gone off to? Wasn't he just here?
  3. *gets up and pours a frosty pint for Angel, then heads back to his chair* Well, Mate, it's getting late here now... *sets frosty pint down on the table and settles into the comfy chair. He hears grond snoring in the corner* but I'll keep a frosty here for ya till you come. *dozes off while waiting for Angel*
  4. Goodnight! *flops back into a chair in front of the fire with a bottle of Guiness* Looks like it's just you and me now, Grond Mate. *looks over and sees grond is still sleeping soundly, his stout is near empty, Vereta's money is sticking out of his pocket* Wonder what time it is in Sweden...Angel should be coming soon. I'll just sit here and wait for him a bit. *takes a long swig and kicks his feet up on another chair to wait*
  5. *notices fanmattai* Hey Mate! *pours out some water for the newcomer* Welcome to the tavern! *eyes the pocket chips warily* Those been in there long...?
  6. I guess so... *pokes at grond* Oi, Is he snoring? *sighs* I'll get the chips then...Vereta, more ice for your soda while I'm back here Mate? *moves behind the bar and finds things are in a state of disarray* need to get ourselves a proper barkeep...*slips on a puddle of water near the icebox*
  7. Me? Looking for a fight? You're the one scoffing and glaring, I came here looking for a drink! It's just a bit of fun, Mate, take it easy. Come on, your next drink's on me. *eyes the empty bottom of his bottle* Annnnd...it looks like I need another myself! Still no bloody chips! Is that grond sleeping in the corner there?
  8. *hears a scoffing sound and looks up from his Guiness* What's that? Something in your throat Mate?
  9. *snickers quietly to grond* Kids... *grabs a bottle of Guiness, crosses closer to the fire, and cuffs Vereta on the shoulder before dropping into a chair* Alright lad, you don't care for the drink, you'll out live us then! Cheers, Mate! *clinks bottles with Vereta and drinks in contentment* grond Mate, what's the wait on those chips?!
  10. What a responsible lad! *reaches over the bar for a rootbeer from the icebox and hands it to Vereta* Drink hearty, Mate! *sets down his empty glass* Ah, the Dew is sweet, grond Mate, good choice! Better switch to Guiness now or I might stay here all night with the whiskey! LOL Got any chips?
  11. *Rider drinks the rest of grond's stout when he's not looking* Ah, a nice Irish Whiskey for me, barkeep! And a frosty pint for Angel, I'm sure he'll be in before long! Quite a cozy tavern indeed. Nice start off, grond Mate...oh uh, look at that... your drink is empty
  12. A couple suggestions for locations you might approach first 1) Black Rock Caverns: a freeform quest dungeon north of Chorrol. Great concept, this cave haunted by spectre pirates, but the end...dismal, the reward....none really. 2) Lost Boy Cavern: looks like the devs started something here, but didn't really give it 100% effort. Leaves much to be desired by way of rewards. Hope that helps start you off! And a superlative use of the English language should always be appreciated!
  13. grond, Are you familiar with the Imperial Library, Mate? Possibly the greatest source for Elder Scrolls Lore online! http://www.imperial-library.info/ it may help you flesh out your ideas more!
  14. Good Work Mattai! This [WIP] thread is very thorough. I like that you listed the authors and mods into two sections, but I'm sure a few PMs a day to the authors and you'll have all the permissions you require! You may want to consider narrowing your list for release. Firstly, there is such a thing as a mod that is too big! You will need to add all of the textures and meshes for the armors and weapons to a single location in your Data folder for your mod. The result, I suspect, will be a huge mod, but you won't get a feel for the size until you start adding things in! Secondly, you want to see the project actually release. You don't want your list to be so much that you never get there. You have quite a few RL obligations (congrats on your engagement!) so you want your project to be feasible for you to complete alone. The chances of finding a partner are slim on any project. Instead of aiming to release a huge mod that includes hundreds of things in new locations, you might consider choosing about 20 of your favorite mods to start with. I suspect, even though this number of mods seems small by comparison, that you will still be adding quite a bit of content to the game; especially if you add any new characters or locations. That way, you can reasonably learn the skills needed for this project and release a polished complete version in only a couple months. Then if you choose to, you can continue to add to the project and release updated versions with more content as your time permits!!! Just a suggestion! Oh, and I enjoyed the use of the word skeletally!

    XMarker

Quote Thanks guys, very very useful. About the sheepherd. I'll probably end up moving it to give more room for other things. Also, how can I tell whom the marker effects? Easiest way is to click on the marker and hit delete. A dialog box will open that shows what AI pack that mark is attached to. Just choose the "no" option to close the box without actually deleting it. Another way is to just double click on it, a different box will open. The Reference Editor ID usually has the name of the character or some clue in it!
  16. You should post a [WIP] thread so people can follow your progress and offer suggestions! There is a link on the homepage to the CS Wiki, it's chock full of useful tutorials. If you get stuck, driop by the Study Hall here to ask your questions!
  17. Quote *sigh*All you folks seem to be online when it's 0-6 AM, i get flushed by new topics and posts when i get back in the morning Well, the trade off is that we come back online to all of your posts!

    XMarker

In that situation the xmarker in the sheep pen is tied to a travel AI package. There is a shepherd who picks the sheep up in the morning and walks them into the woods down the road to graze, then brings them home. The markers are for the shepherd, so he goes to the sheep pen and then goes to the xmarker that's in the woods. Angel is right about xmarkers being versatile, but I would say 90% of the time they are used to govern NPC behavior. Deleting the sheep markers will make the shepherd's AI packages void. He won't have anything to do then and will just stand around. Best idea would be to move the xmarker if you want to move the sheepfold, but not delete it, the shepherd needs a job and he's one of the few working shepherds in the game; he even has a sheep dog who helps him! The xmarker in the farm field is also a work marker, it tells the farmer where to stand to work. If you go ingame and watch the town for awhile you'll notice the NPCs go to the same spots every day. They go to the mark and do what they are programmed to do. The shepherd herds and the farmer farms. IF you delete the markers, and it wouldn't necessarily mess anything up, you would need to replace those AI packages and give those characters something else to do. Otherwise they'll just stay in their houses!
  19. Sounds interesting, it might be tricky to get the permission to release, but if you can get the original authors' clearance, you would have quite a tribute mod on your record!! How many mods are you planning to use for the project? Glad to have you with us! Yeah, Simba's cute... :simbe:
  20. Quote Quote Don't know about that...I patrol there too! Lol, by the way... How do I replace a texture for a quad? To replace a texture, right click on the one you want to change in the quad list and click Replace. A box will open with a list of textures, choose the one you want from the list. It's best to know ahead of time what the name of the texture is! Now, you can't delete the first texture in the list, but you CAN replace it! :simbe:

  22. Quote Quote Quote I'm having a problem where I can't edit some parts of the landscape. Is this common? Why is it that I can't?Do you mean you can't mold the landscape, like move it up and down? Or do you mean you can't add new textures (paint the grass) to a landscape?I really should have said that in the first place. I mean the textures. No worries! There is a limit to the number of textures per cell, per quad. In case you don't know, every cell in the game is actually 4 quads. 1 cell = 4 quads You can only have 9 textures per quad. So, sometimes, you find a quad that won't take the texture because it's full. Move the red circle over the section that won't take a new texture and hit T to make the camera move directly over that cell. Now, hit the I key to open a box that shows the 4 quads an the textures each one has. NEVER EVER EVER delete the first texture in the list in each quad. You can cause the black hole effect that is unfixable in many cases. Delete a couple in the middle and either your texture will appear, or you will be able to add it!
