  1. 2000 would be ok, just don't try seting your file dates to something like 1E 25.... the game might not like that.
  2. I managed to finish that quest without having to kill Umbra, but stealing the sword from her is a lot harder than killing her. In the Dark Brotherhood quests, I really looked for another option when it came to killing "Sibby" Draconis, but there was no alternative but to kill her. What is it about mentally disturbed women that makes them so endearing? In the end I justified it by saying that she was too far gone to be saved.
  3. The worst situation I ever encountered, over the course of many years playing the game, was caused by that %$& keychain mod. My save games all crashed on loading. New game crashed. Nothing that I tried worked to get the game running again. I had all but given up when googling common causes of corrupted files led me to countless posts about p1dkeychain. Following the advice given in the comments on nexus I was able to list all the keys that were trapped in the keychain, and delete the mod. The game instantly loaded, and all of the savegames worked. replacing the keys was not fun at all with so many people using the keychain, and not reporting any problems with it, I have to assume that the problem is not in the keychain itself, but rather a conflict between it, and another mod, or limitations of the mod being exceeded by having many mods installed, but I won't be using the keychain ever again
  4. I personally prefer to unpack BSA files in the data folder. The uncompressed files offer a slight improvement in performance, but more importantly, it's easier to make changes -add and remove, or update mods, without having to recompress the BSAs every time. As for changing the file dates - I think that only applies to esp, and esm files for load order. Mesh, texture, and sound file dates have no significance (correct me if i'm wrong)
  5. I'm curious about Count Valga, and his family. From what I've read, he died in a battle with Nords from Skyrim, but not much more is said... that I can find. If there are books on the subject, please bring them to my attention. In the quest "canvas the castle" there are a few vague clues, but no real meat and potatoes about the history. I'm most interested in the timeframe of his death. Any Information about the battle itself? At what age, did Alessia lose her father? Did the circumstances of his death play a part in Alessia's feelings regarding certain races, or is there more to that story that I am missing? "Recent Wife of Marius Caro" -- Talking to Alessia, it's obvious that she is dedicated to the Empire, she visits the Chapel daily, and would one day like to make a pilgrimage to the wayshrines. She also visits her Mother, Countess Arriana Valga, for a few days each month (passing several wayshrines along the journey). Being Heiress-Apparent to County Chorrol, what led her to marry at such a young age? Was it for love, or out of duty to the empire?
  6. I had an idea that may be usefull to some modders, but I don't know enough about scripting to make it happen. I'll give a few examples. Let's start with the basics: A room furnished with 3 choices of furniture a)Red b)Green c)Blue each set with their own enable-parent. 3 corresponding color coded "items" that the player can either purchase or find in a barrel outside the house etc. If the player enters the house for the first time with none of the 3 items, then there is no furniture. If the player enters the house with the blue item, then the blue furniture is enabled, and stays blue until changed. If the player enters the house with the red item, the existing furniture is disabled, and red is enabled. and so on... (I know this can be done with switches but.... can having an item in inventory do the job) Example 2 (similar script) One Training room instead of many: player selects (1) object from display case outside the training room. i.e. Sword enables Blade training partner in the training room. bow enables marksman trainer, etc. I've seen several mods that have multiple training rooms, where one room could serve multiple purposes. Example 3 (same script) Training room creatures. player carrying items (b)(i) and (m) enters room to face a bear, imp, and minotaur. Example 4 (same old same) Player carrying item x enters store y. Item x enables Merchant container z - making (n) items available for sale. Example 5 ... player finds item(k) in wilderness: entering a nearby tavern carrying item (k) brings up rumor topic, adventurer seeking to purchase (k) etc. as you can see there are many posibilities for this cell script. How to? Thanks for any input, good or bad.
