  1. I would like to upgrade wife's computer for Christmas. She is not a gamer (not like Skyrim). Mostly using extended desktop (dual Dell U2412M 1920x1200) for business, although she does unwind on the machine with some very UNdemanding games. (Let's just say that Windows 7 is the toughest video task her machine undertakes.) What I would like to do is get her another Dell U2412M and a video card that will run all three Dells in extended desktop mode or the "Eyefinity" (which, best as I can tell, delivers the same thing, with a little more 2D geometric freedom in setting up the monitors). The Dell U2412M delivers excellent video performance in a 16:10 format. Those extra 120 vertical lines you get (that you don't get on a 1080p)... well... I don't how I ever got by without those. The biggest drawback to this monitor is that it has no HDMI input (just VGA and DVI-D). So, to the point: I surfed around and found out I could use a Sapphire Radeon HD 6870. It has 2 DVI-D connectors, an HDMI connector, and includes a passive HDMI-to-DVI_D adapter which allows it to run 3 DVI-D monitors. Only problem is that it is not sold new anymore and I'd have to take my chances on a used one. I looked at some of the new products, but do not see a CLEAR map to how I would get the product to work. For instance, the Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 claims to be able to drive 3 monitors in the desired formats, but I only see one DVI-D connector and no comforting wording about adapters. (Also, the 6970 is a power hog). My question is: Anyone know of a medium grade (under $300) video card which can drive three 1920x1200 DVI-D monitors in extended desktop or Eyfinity (or similar) configuration? Thank you for reading.
  2. Thank you, Bess. Here, I baked one for you, too. Jac, I re-did the pic. Now, your (actually anybody's) honest opinion: Do you think it still looks non-descript to someone not pre-desposed to knowing what it's supposed to be?

I've enjoyed and rated a few pieces of your fine art in my short time here. This the first one that has gotten me to do something more than click the five star button. Great job with colors, lighting, transitions to B&W; and you make it look real and surreal all at the same time. Wow!
  4. Glad you asked. Going to have to give it a redo some time... No. I took one of the vanilla beginner's avatar pics offered on this site and edited the Skyrim dragon logo into his mouth, as if he were fetching it instead of slippers. I wanted subtle; so am impressed you noticed (here, have a cookie). Didn't realize it was so subtle that once you saw it you couldn't tell what it was. Maybe I should make the dragon something which does not blend in so well with Meeko's coat. Thanks for the heads up.
  5. Thank you, sir. Your reply was exactly the type of reply for which I was searching. I had already downloaded the CK before my original post. Looks like it's time to go over to the school house and actually do something with it. Oh, My test PCs were Nord females made using bodyslide and "NeverNude" model. And, yes, it crashes if PC or (female) NPC takes off body armor. So I will reinstall CBBE. Thanks a'bunch, and have a cookie.
  6. The questions first, then my story: 1. I want to figure out enough about the assets involved in armor/clothing/body to fix a CTD with Skyrim that occurs ONLY when a female PC removes ONLY body armor, or when body armor ONLY is looted off a dead female NPC. Is this a simple educational track? 2. I want to figure out enough to make minor tweaks to armour (shorten a sleeve, remove a strap, add a little color, etc.). Is this a simple educational track? I finished Skyrim for first time. Wanted to do it right, so poked around a bit and dragged my feet on the main quest until STEAM told me I had logged almost 250 hours. I then decided to do some mods (had done CoT and a few other light mods through NMM for first run), and soon found myself in trouble. I am a user of CBBE V3.3A with bodyslide 2.2 with no problems. CTD after installing armor pack for CBBE with bodyslide. Removed armor pack. Now CTD if female PC removes body armor or loots body armor from female NPC. Only female characters and only body armor. Nothing I couldn't get out of if I just ripped out all the mods and started over; but it bugs me that I am at the mercy of a bunch of UNRESPONSIVE people for something I know has to be simple. One of the things I was trying to figure out is how character assets are used (and affect CTDs) in third person view. One of the skills I figured I needed to acquire was how to figure out where undies/bikinis (and maybe skeleton.nif) files are stored. And what better way to find out than to learn how to make/mod npc underwear. Want to learn enough about assets involved in armor/clothing/body mods to fix this problem and make some of my own tweaks to armor. So, like I asked earlier, is this something doable for a beginner, or am I the first grader trying to take on calculus? If someone has the patience, please tell me: You should learn this, then that, then you'll be ready to try what you want to do. Thank you.
  7. Thank you. You beat me. I was coming back after surfing to edit my post to say "I'm going to Study Hall." All the other Skyrim Mods sections look a bit too daunting at the moment.
  8. Thank you, thank you. And special thanks to you, WilleSea, whom, I presume, is the person, who freed me from the, "you'll have to wait until a moderator reviews your post" fetter. I know I am still in the "Welcome" forum (and don't wish to wear it out). Would someone please suggest the correct forum for me to repost a fleshed out version of the following: "User of CBBE V3.3A with bodyslide 2.2 with no problems. CTD after installing armor pack for CBBE with bodyslide. Removed armor pack. Now CTD if female PC removes body armor or loots body armor from female NPC. Only female characters and only body armor. Want to learn enough about assets involved in armor/clothing/body mods to fix this problem and make some of my own tweaks to armor. " Thank you.
  9. Just sort of fell into this... Finished Skyrim for first time. Wanted to do it right, so poked around a bit and dragged my feet on the main quest until STEAM told me I had logged almost 250 hours. Decided to do some mods (had done CoT and a few other light mods through NMM for first run), and soon found myself in trouble. Nothing I couldn't get out of if I just ripped out all the mods and started over; but it bugged me that I was at the mercy of a bunch of UNRESPONSIVE people for something I knew had to be simple. One of the things I was trying to figure out is how character assets are used (and affect CTDs) in third person view. One of the skills I figured I needed to acquire was how to figure out where undies/bikinis files are stored. And what better way to find out than to learn how to make/mod same. That search eventually led me to one of Hana's tutorials and TESA, and... well... here I am. Howdy.
