  1. Haven't heard back on the homework I posted for lesson #2 two weeks ago so I hope it's okay to move on to lesson #3. I saved a copy of my .esp before beginning lesson #3 so I can go back and fix anything I missed if I messed up on lesson #2 homework. For lesson #3 I also went back and improved some of the clutter in my interior cell, adjusting my navmesh where necessary. I'm still not very happy with the interior layout. I am more happy with my new exterior layout. Here's my house with the woodpile, exterior clutter, and door teleport marker (positioned properly). These pics are all from the CK with grass toggled off, so if you want pics proving that I landscaped the grass out of the paths I'll be happy to get some in-game shots. Here's the horse stable with a barrel and a water trough (can't be seen behind the woven fence, whoops). I checked in-game that the ground textures under the stable and the trough were no-grass versions. I did not add a horse because I didn't think we were up to adding NPC's and creatures yet. 0 Here's the lamp post, the well, and the table with some clutter on it in the background. The side porch is still empty, as per the homework's instructions. After I took this screencap, I came back latter and added some mountain flowers around the well and the sides of the yard. Sadly, I only get my ideas to make the scene look more lived-in and real *after* I take the caps. Whoops. And here's my map marker:

    Creation Kit Tutorial

Putting my screencaps here for the CK tutorial lessons.
  3. Meant to get screenshots of my homework up last week but it didn't happen, sorry. I didn't take any in-game pics; these are all from the CK. I'm probably in the minority when I say that I found navmeshing to be rather fun and actually kind of relaxing. It must have something to do with the geometry. Man, I'm a nerd. ANYWAY, without further ado, here are my cropped screenshots of the navmeshing. Hopefully, you can also see some of the clutter I added (although, looking at everyone else's nicely decorate houses, maybe I should have added more clutter). 0 And here are the two containers I made. I deliberately set the barrel of jazbay grapes to respawn. I think I had in mind that this would be the farmhouse of a vineyard owner or something. Even though there are no vineyards in Skyrim... It's not very visible in the screenshots, but I did add a farmhouse door and several books to the bookshelf. A bowl of jazbay grapes on the bar should also count towards extra credit, if we're still keeping track of that.
  4. Well, this house's inhabitants don't have to be devoted to orderliness, of course. They could be total slobs. Maybe the two guys and an oxcart who moved all their furniture into their new house were the orderly ones and wanted to ensure all the furniture was lined up properly. And now the house's new owners will move in, rearrange all the carefully placed furniture to their chaotic hearts' content, and proceed to cover the floor in cabbages and cheese. We just don't know. I didn't add clutter because I haven't been given the green light to go ahead to lesson #2, although I suppose I could go back and randomize the furniture a bit... 'Disorder is life; order is death', huh? Now the chemist in me wants to get into a detailed discussion of entropy and pull out all my notes from statistical mechanics.
  5. Joining the cool kids years later in Skyrim modding. Haven't heard back yet concerning my official enrollment in this class so I hope posting my screencaps is okay. I think I've done my homework and all the extra credit, even if the carefully aligned furniture makes it look like the home of a neat freak or something. (Maybe it is.) The chairs (yes, there's four of them) around that table are a little close; I went back in the CK and scooted them away from the table a bit more so the sitting down and standing up animations wouldn't clip through the table. I also checked that my character can navigate around the bar and up the stairs just fine. I'm not sure if NPC's will be able to or not. I can always shorten the bar or move it around or something. Not my most ideal house layout, but then I never claimed to be a good interior designer.
  6. Ah, don't worry. I don't actually plan on using this tutorial mod for anything. I'm just trying to get a grip on constructing a building in the CK. I'll probably be able to give this house a more lived-in feel in the following lessons (I think lesson #2 is on clutter). ...Then again, if this house belonged to someone as devoted to orderliness as I am, the furniture probably *would* be perfectly aligned with the walls at nice, even 90-degree angles. *imitates Death the Kid* SYMMETRYYYYYYYY!
  7. This includes a periodic table!!!! Now my chemist self can be a nerd even in Skyrim!
