  1. nice well stuff like that can probably be redone if needed. i did see a usage of weight paint i think in the donut tutorial that would tell the particle thing where the particles could be distributed but otherwise i am not worried. i am currently practicing with a house project. I am pretty sure it will take a while to finish it.
  2. @donnato I do have a 4 TB external hard drive. Its not a SSD though. I use it more for backups and storage because I dont want my stuff running even slower (if the time it takes to copy something to the external drive vs another folder on my main hard drive is any indication of running speeds). I actually dont even run a SSD as my main hard drive. @ragna_r0k nice. (makes note) ok so another question then...lol. Is it possible to create a file with 1 version of blender, then open it in another version? Just curious mostly if this would work and not just for skyrim meshes. also....I have an idea about what to do about the blender materials folder so that they can all share it
  3. ah ok. At thi point i am hoping having 2 different blender folders wont take up too much room (i would want to also have a materials folder for that version to keep that stuff separate). My computer has less than 300 gigs left and my material folders that tend to go with these programs take up a lot of space lol. I do need to upgrade my computer though at some point. As it is, using blender to render with cpu seems to be faster than using my GPU......
  4. An earlier version of blender?? i am suprised the newer version wouldnt support nif stuff. is it possible to have 2 different versions of blender installed on the same computer? I really like the version i am using. I am still in a learning phase and not up to the point that i am ready to begin making meshes for my personal skyrim mods but I can come back to this post and check the stuff you posted. thank you also I am assuming those references for tutorials will work with skyrim meshes as well.
  5. cool. well i finished the donut tutorial. working on the chair tutorial now which was really recently released. I am actually kinda enjoying using blender.
  6. So I have seen the program "Blender" mentioned a lot by modders when I was trying to figure out how to "reskin" something and whatnot. I have seen at a glance something about scripting and was wondering if I would be needing to make another attempt at learning scripting or if it was separate. I havent gotten very far in the video tutorials yet for blender. I am still working on the donut. I do want to be able to use blender to perhaps make my own custom meshes maybe. Is it easier to modify the existing meshes for skyrim with blender or just make my own?
  7. ok so I am fairly certain I used mod organizer 2. The UI layout looks like what I remember using last time I played
  8. Did nexus mod manager change the layout of its UI or something? I dont recall it looking like this. maybe it wasnt Nexus Mod Manager that i previously used? I think I actually used mod organizer 1 or 2 so I may go with that.
  9. Oh ya I guess i should have clarified that this was intended for "oldrim" mostly because some of the mods i want to use arent available in SE version. i have read some comments in places about NMM crashing a lot or something? this was never the case when i was last modding skyrim but i think that was like....almost 3 years ago.
  10. So i finally decided to pick up my skyrim modding again after being over in eso and a bit of Oblivion. When i started going through some tutorial videos for a refresher, I noticed that Nexus Mod Manager seems to have been replaced by Vortex. It seems to be available for download still. I have read conflicting things in varying comments sections of vortex videos. some say its awesome. Others say its not good. Then others say Mod Organizer 2 is better. I am unsure of what to use now and was looking for some input. When I was using NMM i would use LOOT and whatnot to get the load order and i believe it would tell me of conflicts? I also plan to make a couple personal mods for myself and will probably need to extract BSA's so is there a way to restore the folder to play-ready (mod manager installed and whatnot) without having to use a fresh install backup and redo and ini changes?
  11. So I was watching a twitch stream from bethesda, and at the end the announced Elder Scrolls 6. It was a short scene, but still. alo found this link as well. https://twitter.com/search?q=elder+scrolls+6+announced&ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^search
  12. I have been playing ESO for about a month now
  13. Ty grond and welcome joe Good luck on your mods as well.
  14. so true. for me...it all started with getting the PC version of skyrim. Then I said to myself..'ok, just a few patches so the game behaves better, nothing else.' Then after watching a tutorial on how to start adding mods to the game and having a couple mod mentions, I started thinking, 'well....lets see what kind of stuff other people have made'. I started finding stuff I really liked, but I got to thinking, 'I like this house layout, but I like the features of this other one better, but I really wish it was at this location instead.' So I found someone mentioning somewhere that the creation kit was easy to start learning. I found tutorial videos and started trying to learn. and now I am here with several mod ideas and I may not even do just house mods. I haven't totally decided yet. lol but it all started with 'just a couple patches'. But ya...addictive.
  15. For oblivion? I heard it doesn't handle oblivion very well and the 2 best ones were Wrye Bash and Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM).
  16. oh...well i just call them BSA's and all other compressed files archives.
  17. I though archives and BSA's were 2 different things.
  18. For making an archive, I recently downloaded 7-zip. I did that because it's what the person was using in the guides I was following. They started repacking archives to be installed with Wrye Bash. They were simple archives though. I am making changes to the DLC homes for my personal use so I will be deciding on a packaging form myself.

    [OB] Questions

Well I dunno if that purple bedroom is still gonna happen. I think I may have to save it for Skyrim. I do check the 'readme' of the mods but sometimes it's still unclear as to compatibility. I actually ran into some issues following the guide I was using. So...I once again wiped my oblivion folder to do another clean install. I suspect one of the mods I downloaded to take a look at may have left some traces that could have interfered. Now I am just testing a few that I am uncertain before I 'clean install' again and restart the guide. If I have to I will leave out the qarls texture pack. Its the one that isn't wanting to cooperate at the moment. as for the retexture tutorial you linked...if thats what I have to go through, I will just save that kind of work for skyrim. And with that....I am headed back to my testing. Thank you for the info

    [OB] Questions

Note: I ended up learning Wrye Bash (actually still learning it). Also haven't yet run into the rubberbanding bug yet, but I haven't been in game much except for testing and screenshot purposes. I also found out the approximate max mod count. Note for #4: I still may make a personal house mod but haven't decided yet. I have been following a page on nexus that had some mod recommendations. While I don't intend to add every mod on their list, I am likely going to use a good portion. I had some mods on the side that I was thinking about adding, but I don't know if some of them will compliment each other or if they will be made useless. An example: Maskars Oblivion Overhaul and CLS-Craftybits mods. Both add some crafting (MOO actually adds more than just crafting) but will both mods crafting systems be able to be used or just one? (I hope this makes sense) I took a look at the new homes I got from the DLC's and I found them a bit lacking. I tried searching for some remakes but I didn't really like what I found. Also some mentioned they were not compatible with the unofficial patches. So I figured I would just do a few changes myself. If I want to make them compatible with the unofficial patches, do I have to have the changes saved as a separate esp? Also, for making it Wrye Bash compatible, should the folder structure in the archive look like this maybe?: Data>Textures>Custom Textures and Data>Meshes>Custom Meshes I don't intend on publishing any mods for oblivion so any changes to the DLC homes would just be for personal use.
  21. ah almost forgot about that one. Sweet. I don't have too much time right now to test it but I can definitely get the cell names written down and everything else ready before I leave. When I get back I will proceed with screenshots, and then continue with the guide I was following
  22. I think I have that page bookmarked. hmm...wait...does the 'unlock' command work for doors that don't need a key?
  23. that could work. I might be able to access some areas of the palace now. some other areas are blocked off requiring a key or quest stage though, like cloud ruler temple. I may need to make that test cell anyway and add the keys to a container there. or make a portal to the truly block areas.
