  1. I build my own every time. Not because I object to buying pre-built, but because I can never seem to find the capacity I want. As far as support is concerned, I mostly don't need it. Although I have to say ASUS support, although spotty, is the most technologically competent.
  2. Yep, build your own. More fun and builds confidence. Besides there are lots of folks here who would be thrilled to help.
  3. Well, maybe you should get both, then you could report back with a definitive analysis
  4. This is a good piece, I've been using one for quite a while, no issues, and it beats paying $60.00/year
  5. A couple of comments. Thermaltake, Corsair, OCZ; all, generally good stuff...check reviews. Memtest86: http://www.memtest.org// Will help rule out failing memory. Back to PSU's. Single 12 volt rails are nice, but in the very high power range, they are problematical. With multiple 12 volt rails, you, obviously, have to ensure that the load is properly balanced. One other thing; you stated an issue with the 5 volt line. Using lots of USB devices? If so, consider getting an externally powered USB port (Belkin makes a nice one). The 5 volt line is very often overlooked, and very often the source of otherwise inexplicable shutdowns. Good luck
  6. Just for grins, is your speaker setup the same as Oblivion's, ie stereo or what?
  7. Boy, I so agree, Sealwarrior has been one of the politest and most courteous posters it has ever been my pleasure to experience. Don't know if it's allowed, but here's a link to a uninstall/reinstall procedure that has worked for many people: http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/129332-bbens-reinstall-procedure/
  8. OK, I'm beyond my paygrade here. But try resetting windows media player as your default MP3 player.
  9. I agree, this is kind of weird. I too would like to see a Dxdiag. Question? Did you try reinstalling Directx? And I repeat the K-lite packs are intended for Windows 7: http://www.majorgeeks.com/K-Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack_d5230.html
  10. The K Lite Mega pack I linked you to is, according to the website for Windows 7 too.
  11. HeyYou is right, I remember this post. Links: CODEC RESETS: http://www.majorgeeks.com/K-Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack_d5230.html http://nightmare2013.brashendeavors.net/
  12. My vote, as said by others, would be for Logitech's G5 Laser. I've had mine for quite a while now with no issues.
  13. A couple of things that may be relevant. Since you're using a soundcard (presumably with hardware acceleration), you should disable the motherboard audio. Consider reinstalling directx (redistributable is available at Microsoft) Since directx 11 is not fully backward compatible with directx 9. consider installing directx 9 (available at Microsoft or on your Oblivion disk) Lastly; when the sound stops, verify that the lines in the oblivion.ini bMusicEnabled=1 bSoundEnabled=1 did not get set to 0 somehow.
