    Hi

Hello. I was referred to this site by the Unshod Cobbler. He said is was a great place to learn and I trust his judgement. The Unshod Cobbler has become temporarily unavailable, and I have taken his works and will be keeping them viable. Hope to meet you all.
  2. Heya everyone, Jintezaku here! (or Peter, if you prefer) When I posted about my first big project I'm working on I got a response from user HeyYou over at Nexus Mods saying how he/she thought my mod was needed and hoped I would continue it. In his tagline he had a link to this forum, and since I'm becoming more and more active in the modding scene with each passing day, it seemed like a good thing to join here as well. So what am I making? First I want you to know that while this is a side project of mine, that I do intend to keep developing this going forward. I'm making a text-to-speech engine using the vanilla voice assets to create new dialogue for vanilla NPCs to allow for more dialogue choices for the player. I won't go too in depth in this post, if you want to learn more or help out click here (Link to nexusmods dev page) For anyone wondering who the **** is this dude? I'm 23 years old, I live in the Netherlands. I finished college 2/3 years ago and graduated as a game developer (going to uni for my bachelor and master in 2019). My father is a music & sound producer and has taught me all about it over the years, and while I don't feel like I'm that creative I do like to play guitar and piano. But because of this specific background I have this project really felt like something I could achieve. Because there is so much voiced dialogue already in Skyrim I'm 99% sure I can create good sounding, well toned, new dialogue with it. And with the development of my text-to-speech tool I'm hoping to bring those same skills to the general public. If you've made it this far I'm sure you're interested to know more, so join my newly created discord and we can discuss it all! (also software developers and designers, all help would be appreciated!) Thanks for reading, Jintezaku (Peter) *Edit some spelling
  3. Hello Everyone! I am Arron Dominion, and I have been in modding for awhile (getting into the 12-13 year range now). I haven't been the most vocal voice in my time for Skyrim, and a few other games. Outside of modding I am Software Engineer, currently programming in C#/SQL primarily (although other languages crop up as needs arise). I keep with modding because I have learned a bit and want to help others, and to help ground the programming mind in other spheres (although not entirely successful at times ) One of my video series (currently unable to finish due to priority and time constraints) is a set of Papyrus Scripting Tutorials working from the basics of Variables/Events/Functions in an attempt to help understand those concepts when attempting to script (primarily Skyrim related). I have created a few other Skyrim tutorials as requests have come up, but not too much major. I am slowly expanding my presence and diversifying my involvement as time permits. TES Alliance made sense with the history and involvement in the modding scene. Thanks everyone! -Arron Dominion
  4. Hello everyone I hope this group is still active. I am a 3D modeler who wants to make some skyrim mods I am currently trying to make a weapon set mod but I am running into issue that when I found this site. I hope that I may ask for help and be able to give help to others but alas I am newb when it comes to modding skyrim I am at least somewhat proficient at 3D modeling though so if you have questions there I can help to some degree. Again I am just happy to be here and I hope to be part of this community.
  5. Hello everyone, I'm so glad I found your site. There are always questions that come up when something doesn't work right . Just getting use to the site, I have a question about icons and will post as soon as I figure out the proper forum to post to. Elora Q
  6. Well,... hello TES Alliance! -After hours of combing the forum, wondering how to post in the shoutbox i realized i have not enough posts to see the 'post' button...d'oh- I'm mostly doing housemods and just recently started to explore working on new worldspaces. Many, many of the resources i've been using in the past originated from here (TESA) and Tamira seems to live here ( ) so i guess it's time to get aboard properly. My personal origins in Computer-Gaming are FirstPersonShooters (Doom2->Quake2->OPFlashpoint->Arma2) so this whole fantasy, lore, magic thing is pretty new to me. And, kinda naturally, i like the sword and the bow part of Skyrim most. The first ''modding'' (i called it editing back then) started for Q2 with Qoole99 and later Worldcraft. But when it was time to release some stuff (me always being late and like one or two game generations behind) all the platforms where long gone, so we had to host the stuff ourselves. I do still play Fragger once a year . Sooo,... this is a forum and you guys like to read so i'll paste my only contribution to the whole ''money for mods'' thing. I think it describes pretty much what i do and why..... I would call myself a poor-ish person too (referring to Elianora), meaning i make enough money for the necessities in life (rent, food, (electrical-)power, that kinda stuff..), but i can't afford a fancy vacation on a sunny beach for some weeks... And that is my own choice! I'm working with kids 6-10 years old at school helping them to get along and understand wtf the grown-ups want from them, (you know, like ADHD in an earlier stage) and i could very well do other job's where i'd earn more money, but no money can buy me the feeling i get when they're leaving the elementary-school and understood the process while keeping their personality intact. Same goes for modding in my book. As long as one person had fun with it or thinks it's cool, useful, helpful or whatever i'm happy. I'm doing it for myself in the first place. If i think it might be use- or helpful to someone else i upload it. That simple. I had to think about the donate buttons several days for my first upload and came to the conclusion that i leave the one on my profile page (if someone really wants to donate something to me) and disable the ones on the modpage(s). The donation can also just be a premium membership, wich pays Nexus, but that's okay for me 'cause without it i wouldn't even have a donation...That way it still feels ''free'' to me and i can honestly say i don't take money for it. The whole copyright on mod thing seems ridiculous to me. Every tree i place belongs to bethesda, the engine that displays that tree belongs to bethesda, the main tool to do all that belongs to... you get my point, right? I think it's time to relax... see y'all in the forums.... Bye!
  7. I've joined TESA! I'll keep the intro short and brief. About me: I'm Greekin, I've logged about ~700 hours of the CK and I'm still learning something new every day. My mod: Even though I've logged ~700 hours in the CK, I've only released one mod. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/63052/? A follower mod because why not. That's it. Short and sweet. Please no futurama spoilers plz no
  8. Hello! I am new to the modding community, making my first home mod. In waaaay over my head, but having a great time =) Figured I would say hello, after luring for about a month =)
  9. Hmm... the sticky post (I think it was a sticky post, the forum here looks a bit different to that of the Nexus sites) said it would be a good idea to start posting with a small introduction, so I thought I might make one, though it will certainly not be an interesting one and such. The reason why I made an account here is that it seems there are some tutorials available. Not that it would have been the only reason for it, though. There seems to be something more here, as well, like the forums. Hmm... I have not really browsed much here yet, as most places said I needed an account, so I do not really know what to expect. Also, the downloads seem to require an account. So I made one. And I had heard of TES Alliance before, but I never really knew what it was and what it had to offer, so I thought this might be a good way to find out. And a bit about myself. The first Elder Scrolls game I played was Oblivion, and I played it completely without mods. Then I found the unofficial patches, and installed them using the .exe installer. But why would I need an .exe installer to install a few plugins? So I searched for more information, tried various tools for mod management and eventually ended up making some mods myself, too. So I like the Elder Scrolls games, at least the ones I have played (mostly Oblivion, some Skyrim and a bit Morrowind). I have made a few mods, although I still would not count myself a 'mod-maker' (if it is a word). I have already found the Nexus site, so this is not the first modding community I have found, but the second one. And one of the few sites on the Internet I have created an account on. That is all I can think of at the moment. I am bad at writing things like this, and one can probably see it. Hopefully, I will find interesting topics on the forums here. And something else of interest, as well. Like I said, I am not sure what there is here, so I am not sure what to expect. But there is definitely something here. Should someone have questions, I can try to answear them. English is not my native language, so the quality of the answear will likely not be too... high?
  10. Hello, hello! I'm Cracko! A new bit of fresh meat to be welcomed or hazed or shoved into a locker, whichever you prefer. I'm not a total newbie to The Elder Scrolls or mods, but compared to the modding old guard I've seen on this site and others like The Nexus, I am but a wee babe. In October 2011 I saw the trailer for Skyrim and thought it looked pretty neat-o, so I decided to purchase Oblivion; it was cheap and I wanted to see if this whole open-world RPG thing was for me before I invested in the shiny new $60 game. The series has captivated me ever since. Recently my venerable old laptop's hard drive failed and I lost practically everything, including my TES-related installations and files. Now with a new, better and beefier computer (and a newly-implemented careful backup system), I've resolved to begin my Elder Scrolls journey anew. My goals for this grand rebirth are to actually participate and interact with the community surrounding these games beyond silently downloading a few mods; from what I've seen you're lovely people and at the very least I'd better be able to express my gratitude for the wealth of content you've created for the games I enjoy. I'd also like to try my hand at actually making mods at some point- it looks like this site in particular has a great amount of useful information in that regard! At the moment I'm focusing on Oblivion, my first love- and in spite of its flaws the game I'm most often drawn back to. I'm stockpiling a hoard of mods like some demented digital dragon, and I do want to get at least a short vanilla playthrough in before I abuse my poor install again, so not much exciting stuff planned for the very near future. I'll probably get going in Skyrim again eventually too; my inner graphics obsessive would like to have a go at making that game look really pretty. One day I intend to give Morrowind a good shake- which will likely be a comedy of errors. My first and last experience with the game was stumbling through Seyda Neen with a friend and having our weak Millenial minds rattled by the retro graphics and mechanics. Truly terrifying. So that's my story! Apologies if it's a bit of a wall o' text. I'm very glad to be here on TES Alliance and I do hope to make some friends. Great conversation starters are links to interesting or obscure Elder Scrolls content; I love finding blogs and writings and mods and videos I haven't seen before. It's like an archaeological dig, only less kneeling in the dirt and grubbing up your clothes.
  11. I started playing Oblivion the beginning of July and, due to an unfortunately light workload, am up to about 80 hours of gametime on the Vanilla. I play very, very weakly relying on conjuration and hiding. Once I discovered the chameleon gear, I've lost a lot of interest in what should be an engaging game. I thought perhaps modding would create more interest for me than the neuter NPCs, sparse landscape, lack of lower-stress quests and lack of immersion. This forum seems an ideal place to share experiences in the game as well as get advice and encouragement on my play-style. I've also spent 6 days trying to figure out modding and am at the end of my emotional rope. I am a California attorney irl with a strong interest in the intellectual property rights, quantifiable in monetary value, of players concerning their avatars and in-game assets. With hundreds and sometimes thousands of hours of game time and cash subscriptions for MMOs as well as stand-alone games with DLCs, players should have a cause of action against companies for banning, withdrawing use under specific circumstances. For example, it's up to companies to create "islands" for players who do not play well with others to congregate. Even more importantly, and close to home, is gaining legal foothold for an individual's right to corporate recourse and/or a civil cause of action (lawsuit) against a SPECIFIC PLAYER for harassment, bullying, defamation (libel via Skype, slander via chats), Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress and other torts. Yes, there are complex issues involved, including constitutional rights. However, the main issue is that courts need to recognize an individual's online identity, reputation and property rights in a virtual environment. I've been in the process of writing an article on the issue and finding the right case in which to voice the issue through amicus briefs. The problem is, like powerless tenants versus slumlords, the people who need legal aid most can't afford it.
  12. Pendraia

    Hello

Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Pendraia, I have been playing Elder Scroll Games since 2003 when I first found Morrowind. Recently returning to play with Skyrim...initially I wasn't keen on steam but when they released Baldurs Gate enhanced I came to terms with it and have now returned to playing Skyrim. What can I say...I'm old it takes me a while to adjust to new things. (*shrugs) I like to play around in the creation kit and with NifSkope. I did release a few minor modding resources for Oblivion and a mod for Morrowind that I would rather forget. The last few years I've been more involved with the 3D render community (Daz Studio) and have been playing with programs like zbrush, hexagon, photoshop and uvlayout. Still very much a beginner in these programs but I have been able to release a couple of items and they can be found over at ShareCG if anyone wants to see what I've been doing. I'm hoping to rediscover a few old friends and make new ones... cheers Pen
  13. Hey there c: I'm Toast-not legally, but I see no need to post my legal name here. o.o Been playing Skyrim since 2011, though I only recently bought it for the PC and have loved it every bit of the way. I'm based in Ohio, have a cat who I like more than most people I know, and have very strong opinions. Believe it or not, I am female. My favorite style of play in Skyrim is a combined stealth/mage type thing. I don't actually know what else to put here. Feel free to talk to me if you ever feel the need, though! I don't bite. c:

    Hi :)

I decided to register here at last. I thought I actually had a registration before, but apparently this was not the case
  15. Hello TESA folks. I'm a new modder for Skyrim, though I've modded other games (DAO, Fallout, Portal). I modded Oblivion but it was quite a long time ago, so I am pretty much starting from scratch. I'm a game design student in a class this fall that plans to make a mod for Skyrim, and so I want to learn as much as I can before the course begins so I can help my classmates. I noticed you guys have a pretty cool modding tutorial series, and I'm not quite sure how to join the June-August class (or is it too late?). It says to PM the instructor, but I'm not sure if that's the person who posted or if it's someone else... I'm still trying to catch up on topics though. I'm looking forward to becoming an active and knowledgeable community member here. I really enjoy TES games, and I have waited months to begin modding (I had to finish previous projects first). So I'm eager to get started. =)
