So is there any Indonesian culture or folklore in the Elder Scrolls? I'm not a hundred percent on the real-world equivalents represented by Akavir and Yokuda. I've always loved the shapes of Indonesian swords, and even the cruder ones tend to have a kind of utilitarian grace. This one was came out fairly quickly. The pattern burnt into the wooden handle was a lot of fun to make; It's a shame it's obscured by the cracks in the wood. In these images it's only clear thanks to a fairly strong area lamp used as a key light. I may texture a better quality version with an ivory handle and no rust just to show it off. As ever, criticism on my texturing and modelling is welcome and encouraged. -

Figured Skyhaven Temple would be a fitting place to put a sword with a dragon theme. I've decided to put all the unique weapons I create in locations around Skyrim. All of the generic ones (and armor sets) are going to be craftable. It'll be easier when I upgrade this WIP from a weapons/armor pack to a full-scale mod with a quest line (which I'm planning for the distant future). -

So 3ds Max has been acting up a tad ... and didn't seem to want to render this even half decently it seems to like to pick out the seams in my textures and make them extremely noticeable when it comes time to render, even when they're actually hardly noticeable at all :/ I'm gonna import this in-game tomorrow to prove it, but for now, you get the crummy preview render! Wooo! -

Made some more progress on the sword... these textures have been a pain, as I've been trying new stuff with them. I've never done poly-painting before in ZBrush until now, and I also baked some of the MatCap materials onto the texture. The matcaps I used are called traptervine and deep bronze (I edited deep bronze to more of a gold color) and can both be downloaded from the Pixologic Material library. I'm thinking of making the gold a little darker, maybe more aged looking. Any opinions on how to fix this up before I start modeling the sheath? -

Added a (really) basic sheath, and moved the heron on the blade in towards the center more. I couldn't move it all the way because it would have overlapped the blood groove, but I think it looks a little better the way it is. I'll probably get working more on the sheath at a later date as I'm not all too satisfied with it, but it'll do for now cause I'm dying to move on from this project -
