Creative Writing Workshop: Lesson 01

Welcome to the Enclave and the first Creative Writing Lesson! The object of this class is to help Oblivion Modders become better story tellers. A good mod begins with a great story and a great story begins with a plot.

What is a plot?

The plot is the core of your story arc. Without a clearly defined plot, your story will wander from point to point and your readers lose interest quickly. Plot gives you direction, a goal, a series of events that must happen to reach the ultimate climax of your story.

The plot is a collection of elements that allow you tell a story effectively. These elements are: Introduction, Rising action, Climax, Resolution, Denouement. We'll use the Lord of the Rings as an example, since I'm sure most everyone has read or seen the movies.

Introduction:

The Introduction presents your characters, setting and the conflict your characters will have to overcome throughout your story. Involve your main character as early as possible and catch your readers interest in the first few pages, else you will lose their interest.

EX: In the opening of the story, the story of the One Ring is given, quickly moving to Bilbo passing the ring to Frodo who is forced to set off on his quest to Mount Doom with Gandalf and friends.

Rising Action:

The hurdles your character faces to reach the goal of your story are called rising action. Readers need to see the character struggle to succeed or fail, feeling as though the end of the story is deserved. Rising action allows you to build dramatic tension within your story. Think of novels you have read and the difficulties the characters faced in order to achieve what they set out to do. This is the heart of the story, without this, your writing falls flat.

EX: The Lord of the Rings is filled with rising action, from Frodo being stabbed with a Morgul Blade to Saruman's betrayal, the Uruk-Hai, the Mines of Moria and the Balrog, Golem luring Frodo to the lair of Shelob and the Battle of Helm's Deep. These are all problems the characters faced and overcame to achieve the ultimate goal.

Climax & Resolution:

This is the turning point of your story, where the outcome of your characters' struggle is decided one way or the other, leading to a resolution of the story. These are the dramatic points, where your reader feels he/she has earned the resolution after following the character throughout your story. Always give this the attention it deserves. If you shortchange your readers at this point, they will feel cheated after having stayed with your character through the whole of the story.

EX: Frodo reaching Mount Doom and falling to the Ring's power before it is ultimately destroyed. The defense of Minas Tirith and defeat of Sauron's forces. Both are examples of the climax of the story and resolution, where the characters finally complete their tasks.

Denouement:

Also called Falling Action, here is where you will tie up the loose ends in your story, showing the aftermath of the resolution, for good or bad. This can be as short or as long as you need it to be but be careful not to wander too far or become to mired in giving every detail. Don't be afraid to gloss over events and leave some things to the reader's imagination.

EX: The crowning of Aragorn, the Hobbits return to the Shire and depiction of years passing before Frodo, Gandalf and the last of the Elves depart Middle Earth are all examples of this.

Lesson 01: Practice

Now that we've discussed the elements of a plot, write a brief summary of a story plot. Set the stage. This is the blueprint of any good story and allows you to organize your thoughts and how your character will reach the resolution of your story. Being able to craft a clear and concise outline is the most useful tool you can develop as a writer.

For this exercise, we will be writing the briefest of outlines detailing who your main character is, the ultimate goal the character will have to achieve and a foil, or antagonist for your character to overcome. The style of your outline is up to you. Some write outlines as a series of notes, like a timeline. Others prefer a journal approach, writing out complete paragraphs in great detail. Use whichever method best suits you or a combination of both.

Once you have posted your outline, read the outline of another poster and answer these questions:

1) Who is the main character of the story?

2) Who is the antagonist?

3) Briefly describe the Rising Action.

4) What is the Resolution/Goal?

Doing is learning. Post your outline here and send me a PM saying you have completed this exercise. Only those students who complete 90% of the practice work will be eligible for a "Story and Lore" Forum Medal.

I'll start things off with an outline of my own. :woot: You may use mine to complete the practice lesson above but we still want to see you post an outline of your own!

================

*Story opens with Canna walking through a dense forest. It's night, lit by moonlight. She's snuck from her home and is following a spectral voice. She's young, late teens, a lithe half-elf with twin daggers strapped to her hips.

*Canna stumbles upon ancient ruins in the heart of the forest. They are overgrown completely and the elven writing is almost completely obscured by vines and forest growth. She is led to an entrance well hidden and descends a darkened stair into the earth.

*At the bottom, she finds a large entry chamber lit by a strange glow and is drawn to one of the near passages leading off of it. As she enters, she places her hand on the wall and sees runes begin to glow, the runes lead her to another chamber where she finds several walking skeletons on guard.

*After defeating the skeletons, the voice returns and leads her to another dark passage with runes that light at her touch. As she walks the floor falls away and she's forced to hang onto the wall and climb across the now chasm to the other side.

*In the next chamber, she is led again to another hall. Inside, the air begins to waver and she feels a great pressure pushing on her, she has trouble breathing, feels defeated and suddenly wants to give up and die. The voice tells her to fight her way through. Canna crawls through the hall and reaches the other side barely conscious and spends several minutes just laying on the floor regrouping.

*She rises and sees a massive double door with a great bar across it. The spectral voice pulls her on and she manages to remove the giant cross bar and open the doors.

*Canna enters the room. It's a great domed hall, holes in the ceiling letting in shafts of moonlight, vines and tree roots growing down to the floor like stalactites in a cave. In the center of the room is a stone dais. On the dais stands a tall, robed figure. When he speaks to her she recognizes the voice that's been leading her on.

*He is the last elf remaining of the clan that once lived there. They imprisoned him as a Sorcerer. He drops his hood to reveal a ravaged face, near skeletal as he's been trapped there for centuries. He tells Canna he needed someone to brave the dangers of the traps left behind to keep him in. So he lured her there. He thanks her for freeing him and attacks her.

*After a furious battle, Canna defeats him and, gravely wounded, makes her way back out of the ruins and to the forest above. She falls to the ground by a dry fountain in the center of the ruins and wakes to find two strange elves standing over her. They thank her for defeating the Sorcerer and tell her this was once their city and they were forced to abandon it to his evil influence as he'd poisoned the land against them. When she'd entered the ruins, they had known and waited to see what would happen.

*They heal her, tell her the land has been cleansed and they will be returning to their city. Canna returns home to tell her parents and people of what happened.

A Darker Use of Magic

*Hjarnn is leading his band of mercenaries over to county anvil. They are meant to assassinate a wealthy merchant called Tulius Raimnum.

*During the travel, they finding the many trees in the great forest have overturned after a recent storm. The roads are blocked and the forest is a very dangerous place at dusk.

*They camp for the night, which happens to be on the full stage of its cycle.

*Eerie noises are heard, and the youngest member Yhako, runs away. The other members were not able to stop him. The bonechilling sound of a scream is heard minutes later, which is then cut off and followed only by silence.

*They argue about what to do next and then divide, some staying and some wanting to go out looking for Yhako, which includes Hjarnn. When they see a figure Hjarnn approaches him and asks if he knows anything of Yhako. The figure neither turns or signifies hearing him.

*He glances at his men, Werdna (Argonian) and Roulhan (Nord). They draw their bow/crossbow and aim for the figure.

*Hjarnn taps the figure. It immediately turns around and bites him.

*Werdna and Roulhan fire and it turns to dust. They then run to Hjarnn's aid. The injury is not fatal.

*They continue onto a glowing cave, they enter. Necromancers everywhere. Yhako's corpse is strung from the ceiling, along with a dozen others. The necromancers don't notice them yet, as they are caught up in their ritual. The skeletal guards do however.

*-Epic Battle- :pints:

*The mages guild attacks the necromancy lair and bigger battle commences -Werdna gets burnt alive with thunder magic- -Roulhan loses his left hand- -lots die!-

*They gets thanked and rewarded.

*Return to camp. Ulthin and Fapoh are dead. BEWARE is written on the walls.

(OMG Lotr Conquest Demo is ready!

In response to WhoGuru's questions:

1) Who is the main character of the story? Canna

2) Who is the antagonist? The Sorcerer of the ruins

3) Briefly describe the Rising Action. She starts off walking, short fighting, the Magic in the ruins " the air begins to waver and she feels a great pressure pushing on her, she has trouble breathing, feels defeated and suddenly wants to give up and die" which try to warn her. And then the battle scene.

4) What is the Resolution/Goal? The resolution was first to follow the voice, but when the sorcerer appeared, it became his death that was needed or to at least escape. Then she is saved from her wounds by the elves who used to inhabit the ruins.

Sorry, I just woke up. My mind might not be working the best yet!

Here is a short summary of a story idea I have. It is shortened by a little. Enjoy!

Also, not sure if this is really still open, but oh well, giving it a shot.

*Selin sits upon the towertop of Balmora, surveying his new home. He is a Khajit, early twenties, with a Dagger strapped to his right forearm. He stands about 5’8â€.

*Selin hears someone approaching from behind, and it is just his to-be-mate, Jazi. She is near the same age as Selin, and stands 5’6â€.

*Selin begins to explain to her that he has an assignment to complete, assigned by the fighters guild, but Jazi protests.

*An argument ensues, that ends with Jazi storming off.

*Selin leaves the task of talking to her until after the mission was completed, and Goes off to the fighters guild.

*When he arrives, he heads into the lower chambers to find them smeared with blood. As he continues, he finds 3 bodies upon the floor, and a spotted, furry beast, also dead, on the floor. As he looks around, he finds the porter, who explains about the pack of animals attacking, and about how they were intelligent beings as oppose to normal animals.

*The porter fetches the man who issued Selin the quest, Eydis, and has her explain what she wants him to do. Eradicate the pack of animals, she claims that they were intelligent, but the only reason that people died is that they were caught off guard.

*Selin agrees to take the assignment and heads off to where the pack is thought to have ran back to, a retired Kwama egg mine.

*He locates the area, and then finds a secure tree to take night-time residence in.

*Naught but a few moments later was he awoken by the tree being shaken. He looked down, expecting to see a theif, or an animal, but he only found his wife, badly wounded.

*He brought her up into the tree, and asked what she was doing here. She explained that, not wanting to spend any more time without him, she would join him on this mission. He bandaged her up, and they both went to rest.

*Much later, during twilight, they awoke to a screeching coming from directly above them.

*Selin disembowels the creature quickly with his dagger, and looks down to find the pack approaching.

*As he jumps down, he tells Jazi to stay put.

*-Fight Scene-

*Selin dispatched 2 of the beasts straight off, but one struck him from behind and hit him in his exposed elbow., causing quite a scratch.

*Selin continues his struggle with the beasties, and unbeknownst to him, a man is approaching the scene.

*As Jazi tries to cry out and warn him, she is quickly struck with a bony fist to the stomach.

*Selin turns in alarm, as he slays the last beast, and is struck in the head with a stone.

*When he comes to, his wife and the man are nowhere in sight, and there is a note on his chest. It reads “Get higherâ€

*He climbs to the top of the tree, and sees a message written in the dirt, in blood. “Until next time, Selin.†Instead of a period, it is the insignia of Selin’s native tribe, of which he was exiled from. He swore revenge, that day was 60 years ago today.

*Selin eventually killed the Khajit who had stolen his mate from him, oh so many years ago, but he still was not satisfied.

*Selin traveled around the deserts until the end of his days, searching in hope of finding his lost love.

For Relic's story, here are the answers:

1) Who is the main character of the story?

Hjarnn.

2) Who is the antagonist?

The Necromancers.

3) Briefly describe the Rising Action.

I believe that was when the yougling ran off, and they heard the screaming. Then they found and killed the creature that bit Hjarnn.

4) What is the Resolution/Goal?

They defeat the necromancers, and they are thanked for their kind deed.

I'm with Psyko on this one, not sure whether this is still open, but here it is!

*Captain Spivey of the ship Wintermoon, one of your typical captains of the many merchant vessels set afloat from Anvil, sails out from port heading out to Senchal, the beautiful coastal resort of Elsweyr. He intends to sell his mixed cargo of ale, farm crops, and iron to the town.

*On the fourth night of his journey he encounters a particular nasty storm that sends him flying over unknown waters, and to eventually crash ashore on an abandoned island.

*Captain Spivey and his crew of eight men evacuate the soaked hull that was once Wintermoon and retreat further into the tropical island's inland to escape the pounding waves.

*They set up camp under the canopy of a group of trees. Failing to kindle a fire in the downpour, they retire for the night huddled together using any spare blanket to cover themselves.

*Captain Spivey awakes to find his entire crew gone and daylight streaming through the canopy. He wanders the island looking for signs of his disappearing crew.

*Eventually he notices a cave set into a wall of a cliff. Peculiarly there are blood stains smearing along the ground leading into the stone interior of the cave. He bends down to inspect the blood and notices it is fresh. He acts on a hunch that it must be his crew's blood, being one of your more responsible captains he takes natural pride and protection of his crew. This eventually leads him, seemingly involuntary, into the cave looking for the enemy who took his crew from him.

*Traveling through the dark creepy corridors of the humid cave, he eventually faces his worst fear. His entire crew, killed and mutilated past recognition, are impaled upon stakes around a camp fire. In attendance, are a motley gang of goblins, all chanting their victory cries over their incredible luck. The luck, which is about to change for the very worst.

*Blinded by pure rage, Captain Spivey picks up a nearby stake, surprisingly skillfully for having never carried a weapon, then charges the group of goblins and kills every last one of them. But, oh no, he doesn't stop there; he deliriously hacks and chops the goblins until they are even in worst shape than that of his former crew.

*Captain Spivey calms enough to examine his handy-work, and finds within himself a unleashed beast that he had never met before. Taking control of what was once Captain Spivey, the humble ship merchant, the beast transforms him into the bloodthirsty pirate, Captain Spivey the Vehement.

*With his own hands, he uses the assorted wood from the tropical wilderness covering the island and rebuilds his destroyed craft from the remaining carcass. The outcome: a carnivorous hulk of barbed wood and berserk winged sails that would hunt the seas as the new ravenous predator that all would come to fear; it was named "Legion Pandemic" for the Imperial Legion's hate of the ship. Captain Spivey sailed off of his island, that was home to him for two full years, and without a second glance set forth for the slums of Elsweyr were any pirate of the day could find crew members suitable for the horrors of everyday pirate life.

*The story continues... but not here.

For Psykolabe's story:

1) Who is the main character of the story?

Selin

2) Who is the antagonist?

The Khajit who stole Selin's mate

3) Briefly describe the Rising Action.

The story's rise begins with Selin's arguement with Jazi, then the discovery of the beasts sets the pace a little higher, and then finally with the climax when Selin fights the beasts and looses his mate to the mysterious Khajit.

4) What is the Resolution/Goal?

Selin kills the Khajit who stole his mate, but his final goal; to find his Jazi, is never completed.

No Fear

{-} Ryan’s poor father wanted him to go to school and become a successful lord, but instead, he ran away for a life of adventure in northern wilds of Skyrim. After learning their ways and customs, he joins a troop of warriors for hire, who call themselves the Steirk Tefhod (mighty tongues) who agree to train him further in the way of sword and voice. But one of the warriors, the second in command, Throndhrar doubted the new recruit, and constantly teased and mocked the boy for his apparent frailty and lack of a Thu’um.

{-} During one stormy night, while feasting, the raucous band is visited by a lone boy messenger who asks for help. His people, the people of Haafingar are being brutally murdered one by one by an ancient menace –a Myrri, long thought to be only a legend. The leader of the Steirk Tefhod, Aesgir the Wild, agrees to aid them.

{-} The Norse warriors set sail in the sea of ghosts bound for Haafingar. Along the way, the warriors tell stories of the Myrri, which increasingly fill Ryan with dread. The Myrri uses powers of illusion to drive it’s victims to madness. It haunts their victim’s dreams and waking life with hallucinations, pleasured by their terror. The Myrri can also change form, and become invisible. When the monster is sated with victim’s fear, it consumes their flesh. Aesgir attempts to teach Ryan the Way of the Voice. Ryan was to break the waves with his voice before they fall upon the deck. Ryan was drenched again and again, and his voice became hoarse from all the shouting.

{-} After arriving in Haafingar, the nords set themselves up in several of the town’s inns and hostels and wait for night to fall. They guard the suspected victims, and use talismans to ward off the malevolent being. But, during the long night, several of the nords are brutally slaughtered, made to go insane, or missing by the end of the night. Ryan has terrible dreams and finds himself outside in the woods when he awakens, face to face with the moster. Just in time, Aesgir comes to Ryan's aid, but is slain by the beast. Day begins to break just in time and creature flees. A funeral is held for Aesgir. The nords realize they won’t accomplish anything waiting for the Myrri to come to them and are weakened when divided.

{-} They learn of an ancient barrow in the hills, where the Myrri is suspected to rest during the daylight hours. The warriors make the journey to the barrow and enter. Ryan is almost forced to remain outside by Throndhrar. But rather than shirk his duty and give in to his fear like he did back in Cyrodil, he insists on fighting with the Steirk Tefhod until the end.

{-} After cautiously traversing the winding passageways, the band of warriors comes upon the Myrri. An epic battle commences in which Throndhrar is slain. Ryan valiently takes the lead, and actually uses his voice as a weapon for the first time to defeat the Myrri. His comrades hail him as the new captain. Haafingar generously rewards the Steirk Tefhod with gold and gems. Ryan returns to cyrodil to find his father dead. After many days of grief, Ryan donates his wealth to the poor and returns to Skyrim.

For Critterman's story:

1. Captain Spivey is the main character

2. The goblins are the antagonists

3. storm, and wrecking of the ship, missing crew members, seeing mutilated crew, cave fight scene

4. Spivey slays the goblins but also turns into his own worst enemy and also the enemy of the normal sane people.

Of Shadow and death (Something that I enjoy using for a title.)

~ Deep in the forest a male dark elf staggers out of a cavern, wearing his old bloodied necromancer robes he was done with the faction. But they were not done with him, exhausting his magicka reserves he relied on his combat skills he learned from youth. Zek(for sake of using names) found a camp and stole some supplies to survive and get to a city.

~ Pursued by the necromancers he knew he had to defend himself, would the mage's guild accept him back in after having practiced necromancy for so long? He had to return the University and find out. At worst they would not allow him back and he would have to do this on his own.

~ Arriving at the university he was taken in to speak with the elder mages including the Archmage. Several long heated debates later and many hours passing by they allow him back into the ranks. When everything was set, Zek went off to start gaining vengeance against the necromancers and redeem himself. What he didn't know was that a former companion of his a Necromancer while possibly becoming a new high ranking member of the Necromancer Cult if not a Lich.

~ Arriving at a chasm with nothing but dead trees around, Zek decended into the darkness to confront the necromancers and purge the cavern. When entering the final chamber he discovers Saro performing the horiffic necromantic rituals on bodies while the slowly growing number of minions was presenting itself.

- epic battle where zek for a moment has to use his necromancy against the minions and turn the tide. This is followed by Saro's taunts and the true battle begins. Magic is used like nothing, blades, axes any weapons they could use against the other was. The cavern was slowly becoming unstable preparing for a collapse. -

Zek defeats Saro, but is he too late had saro become a lich and only temporarily disable the mage. He could only hope. The cavern collapses around him just as he was about to exit the cavern.

The morning arrives and two travellers had found the dust settling from the chasm's cave in. Climbing down in they discover Zek bloodied bruised and near death. Carrying him out he is brought to Bruma which was the nearest city. Months would pass before Zek is able to do anything.

Returning to the mage's guild he is restored into the order and promoted to Warlock in which he is comfortable in and able to finally have a better life. He has a quiet life for but a few weeks before dreams start haunting him, and visions a cold dark voice whispering to him in the night. Maybe his victory is hollow, or maybe he is hearing the call of something else. Something darker than serving the King of Worms.

1. Ryan is the main character

2. the Myrii but also his fear

3. The rising action is where the boy delivers the messenge about the ancient menace. This is followed by the men leaving and sailing to Haafingar, which leads to both leaders being killed, and Ryan taking up arms and using his voice

4. The Myrii is killed, his group is rewarded, his father is dead and after grieving he gives his reward to the poor and heads back home to Skyrim.

I'm assuming it's still OK to post here (it's not thread necromancy if it's an ongoing tutorial thread right?)

Okay, the frame:

~ In a cottage in a small village, Lesa Herl, once a high ranking Guild Mage, now retired and working as a village witch, hears a knock at the door. She finds a Mages Guild messenger, Ki'Vaari on her doorstep, who tells her that the guild has need of her skills.

~ She initially refuses, stating that she has retired from the guild, and it's problems should be solved by those still in it, but after the messenger mentions that her old friend, Jan Lecerius has disappeared, she agrees.

~ On the way to the Arcane University, the pair encounter a bear. Lesa easily deals with it and Ki'Vaari is assired of her abilities.

~ They reach the AU and the archmage explains to Lesa that for a number of weeks, powerful mages have been disappearing without a trace. They have learnt that she is the next target and ask her to act as bait for whoever is responsible.

~ She agrees in order to help her friend and waits to be kidnapped. Before long, masked mages appear and attack.

~ Battle scene in which Lesa and the messenger are eventually overwhelmed and teleported to a mysterious lair.

~ They escape their cell and find Jan Lecerius, who explains to them that the masked mages were part of a mysterious cult/coven, and they have been kidnapping mages for their souls, which they use to create powerful magical artifacts and perform dark rituals.

~Lesa, Ki'Raavi and Jan search the cult's layer, fighting off any guards they come across. They reach a large room set up for a ritual, where a masked and robed figure stands. He announces himself as the master of the cult. He then says "slave, kill her in the circle" Lesa expects something to materialise or enter the room. Instead, Jan places a hand on her shoulder and draws a dagger. He explains sadly that the master of the cult already has control of his soul, and is powerless to go against his wishes.

~ Battle scene in which Lesa and Ki'Raavi defeat the cult master, avoiding harming Jan.

~ When the master dies, Jan collapses and dies, as his soul has been released from the master's power.

~ Lesa and Ki'Vaari return to the Arcane University, having failed to find any living mages in the lair. Ki'Vaari is promoted by several ranks and Lesa decides to return to the guild, and is restored to her previous station o f master wizard.

On Vouivre's story:

1) Who is the main character of the story? Zek

2) Who is the antagonist? The necromancers, specifically Saro

3) Briefly describe the Rising Action. Zek seeks revenge against the necromancers, and finds his former companion performing evil rituals.

4) What is the Resolution/Goal? To destroy Saro and take revenge against the necromancers

Prelude to the plot:

The Imperial Simulacrum, ten years of Jagar Tharn’s usurping the throne of Uriel Septim VII unbeknownst to any living person … or so Jagar Tharn thought.

Ria Silmane saw through his illusion somehow, but she lay dead now…murdered before she had the chance to spread alarm to anyone else. Tharn was able to fool everyone; the Empress Caula Voria, those three brats of hers, even the son closest to Uriel …Calaxes. Yes, even Uriel’s own personal guard, Lady Allena Benoch was fooled.

The backdrop for this story rises during the ten years Jagar Tharn usurped the throne of Uriel Septim VII and involves the two people who were not fooled by the imposter Tharn. Calaxes Septim and Lady Allena Benoch were forced to create an illusion of their own to cover their own plots as they sought to find the real Uriel … and as they sought to dethrone the false one without revealing that they knew he was an imposter.

Tharn became suspicious of Calaxes’ public attacks against him (as Uriel). In spite of how unlike Uriel it would appear to all Tamriel, Tharn ordered the assassination of Calaxes … to be carried out by the one person whose loyalty Tharn was assured of, Lady Benoch … who would obey Uriel’s commands no matter what they were.

Lady Benoch was dispatched with a contingent of the Imperial Guard to carry out the deed. No one knows what actually happened in the Temple of the One that night, the 29th of Sun's Dusk 3E 398. No one knows except Lady Benoch and a small contingent of the Royal Imperial Guard. But Calaxes was never seen again…dead or alive.

Lady Benoch was said to have gone into a different position after the real Uriel Septim VII regained his throne, her new duties carried her to the outer reaches of Tamriel. She always traveled in the company of her manservant Urken, whom she eventually married.

The Plot:

The Player receives a mysterious note after Martin is consumed by the battle between Akatosh and Dagon. The note reveals that Calaxes yet lives, but in order to test the Player’s loyalty to the Septims the location will not be given. Instead the Player must find and follow a series of cryptic clues to find him, each clue taking the Player through increasingly dangerous traps and dungeons.

There are some enemies who suspect the mission the Player is on, and will try to stop the Player from reaching Calaxes - or beat them to Calaxes and eliminate the last living Septim. The player may also get some help along the way from an unlikely source, Uriel's lifelong invisible female friend Justin.

Can the Player solve the riddle and find Calaxes before the enemies can - so a Septim will once again sit on the throne and rule Tamriel? (and boot out the power-mad High Chancellor Ocato and his Battlemages that are bent on keeping Calaxes from ever making it to the throne?)

***

The-Manta:

1. Main Character - Lesa Herl (secondary main character - Ki'Vaari)

2. Antagonist - The Cult/Coven and against his will, Jan Lecerius

3. Rising Action - Kidnapping of the girls and the battle through the lair, eventual boss battle

4. Resolution/Goal - Saving the AU from the loss of any more mages to this evil faction.
