This brief Tutorial on Patch Creation comes from "Display name is already in use" on Bethesda's official forums with his permission to repost it here. :pints: It should be noted that though this guide is written for WryeBash, it should also work with TESIV Gecko as that program has the same capabilities needed for this.

=======================

How to create a Patch:

=======================

Tutorial:

Launch Wrye Bash

Right-click the conflicting ESP and select "ESMify self"

Repeat on other conflicting ESP if you need to edit things in both conflicting ESPs

Close Wrye Bash

Launch CS

Enable both the conflicting ESPs, if ESMified they will appear up with the ESMs

Edit away

Save new ESP

Close CS

Launch Wrye Bash

Right-click the patch ESP you just saved, and select "ESPify Masters"

Activate all relevant ESPs

Launch game

If results aren't quite perfect, quit game, relaunch Wrye Bash

Right-click the patch you created and select "ESMify Masters"

Close Wrye Bash

Launch CS

Make further edits and resave

Close CS

Launch Wrye Bash

Right-click the patch ESP you just saved, and select "ESPify Masters"

Launch game

Repeat until patch is satisfactory.

Never launch the game with an ESMified ESP as the game will load in a terrible mess

Never launch the CS to edit the patch if its master ESP is not ESMified else you will break the dependency

You don't need to make the patch dependent on the conflicting ESPs if the conflict is purely land height and land texture. Only if you need to move objects around such as pulling a tree out of the middle of a house.
