BIOS question

Well, as IS said a few weeks ago, I should make a thread for any questions I have, now that I have a question, here it is, my question today is how do I make both a bios password and startup password for when I boot my laptop?. [sister problems]

CAUTION: Accessing and Changing the bios. Read carefully before doing.

First you would identify your BIOS, manufacturer, and check their site for the key stroke that will access bios at boot time.

It is often one of the following keys:

Esc

DEL

F1

F10

Watch your computer Boot Screen for a quick message showing the key for "Setup" access.

If your manufacturer has a proprietary screen that doesn't allow you to see the boot sequenc, you search for your your Laptop Manufacturer + Bios Access.

Even if you can see the Setup key at boot time, I recommend you search your Manufacturer's Bios and Version, to see the sequence to get to the Password setting. It's usually near the last page of your bios screens.

At that point you can create your Bios password, and if your Bios supports it, you may also be able to enable "password protection" for a startup prompt.

Be careful to only change the one setting you want to change, and don't save if you're in doubt. Just start over. If you make a mistake you may have to take the pc to the shop.

The easier question is how to create your password protected windows login, if that's what you're asking, it's as simple as going into control panel, choosing User Accounts, and creating a password protected account by following the prompts to the end, or simplay adding a password to your existing account.

However I'm not sure this is what you meant by "Startup" password.
