Oblivion Crash

Decided to try and tackle my issue with OB finally and although I don't know if its actually something I can solve, I thought I would give it a shot rather then just clear it out and start anew.

Some months ago, I was tweaking some settings in a mod and it caused OB to crash right after it shows you the initial launch screen (BETHSOFT), I thought it was a corrupt mod and removed it but no go, then tried replacing the INI with my back-up, again, no go.

Wondering if this is something that is worth my time to track the issue down or if I should let it go and reinstall.

Debugging a crash is the hardest thing to do, and wanting to wipe clean and start fresh is typically the first thought but not always necessary.

I'd suggest disabling all mods and just run plain ole OB, see if that gets you any further first. If so, one step at a time add a mod, start game, check for crash, exit, add another mod. Tedious but does help track down the problem.

I disabled several mods, and then came up to some that would not deactivate, infact I disabled any mod I had, back to my first few and still seems to be an issue.

As I said, I am not sure but a mod I was using may have caused some bigger issues then I can see.

I'm not sure I understand "would not deactivate"?

Are you using BASH or do you enable/disable with Data Files?

What was the mod that started the problem?

Sounds for all the world like a missing master crash.

Trying to load a savegame that relies on content that isn't there any more can also be problematic. Since the game is crashing before you even get to that point though...... I am still leaning toward missing master.

Can you post your load list?

As for the mod that seems to have started the issue, I was tweaking "ImpeREAL City Unique Districts" and ran into the issue, it been deactivated since.

I see some possible load order issues there.... Might want to try running BOSS on it, and see if the notes lend any hints.

Checking with wrye bash for missing masters would be a good plan as well.
