Making Really Beautiful Characters

Jullian I have a tutorial on making a customized race .... Here

Its a preliminary type tutorial with the basics...... Most of it applies to any type of customized character. Using body mods like HGEC has some really good HD skin texures that also help as well. My custom race is a combination of a couple of different ones. Main thing to remember is to separate all parts, (head, hair, body, face, ears) so that you can mix and match different ones until you get the effect you're looking for.

In addition to making your own race, grab a picture of an Oblivion character you find attractive and try to recreate his/her face. Practice is the key. Pay close attention to the details you find appealing- the width of the jaw, the placement of the eyes. One specific suggestion: don't go crazy trying to make the nose really, really small or button like- it just ends up looking like a bad nosejob, nine times out of ten, and actually throws the entire face's proportions out of whack. The nose is the anchor of the face- a nice looking nose will make the face work, no matter how unconventional the rest of the features are.

My two cents.

Sitting in facegen is what does it. Lots of trial and error. There isn't a specific set of rules, or math behind it. Its getting to know what each slider does and when to stop. I find eye placing and cheek bones to be the hardest to get to what I feel is perfect. Greenie is spot on with the nose too... that can defiantly throw a whole face off with the smallest move of the sliders.

Yes, practice and patience is the key. I've literally edited my character's face hundreds of times, little tweaks here and there, and have finally arrived at something that I'm mostly pleased with in most lighting scenarios:

Make sure you download some decent face and hair packs + skin and facial structure (I'd appreciate a link to one of those - I've had trouble finding anything after I had to wipe my computer) improvement mods.
