im having issues with wrye bash.so imgoing to let you know what i got and where it is as im having issues setting up my game for the mix of OOO,MMM,fran's and Warcry.i know i gotta do a clean install,unfortunately my disc is gone now.i have th direct 2 drive(steam,...i hat them...lolz)so here it is:

Dell Inspiron INSP1440

Pentium Dual-Core CPU T4400 @2.20 GHz/2.20GHz

4.00 Gb RAM

300 Gb HDD

Windows 7 64-bit OS

Mobile Intel 4series family chipset(gayness but im saving for a better computer)

I know this aint crap to play this game with but amazingly enough i getverylittle sttutter in-game.settings aren't maxed but about halfway and does well enough.(even CoDMW2 plays well at optimal settings)

now locations.

My Game is located C:/Program Files(x86)/Bethesda/Oblivion

i used the wrye bash self installerwhich put it in my oblivion folder.

the wrye python installed all those components into my oblivion folder as well

i installed blender at a recommeneded location,these are the instructions i followed and it works fine(still learning the interface)

and am wondering since they had me change install locations and if i even have the right python for wrye bash.i read somewhere you need2.5.5 in order for it to work best.and i got 2.6.5 to work with blender.

Installation

Install Blender and the required support files per the following instructions.

This was documented on a Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) machine.

This documentation was designed to work well for Vista or Windows 7.

NOTE: You must use the 32-bit versions until all components have 64-bit editions. You cannot mix-n-match.

Install Python

Source: Python.Org

1. Run Python-2.6.5.msi

2. Setup - Select "Install for all users" and click Next

3. Select Destination - Click Next to accept default of C:\Python26\

4. Customize Python - Click Next to accept defaults

5. Setup Complete - Click Finish

Install Blender

Source: Blender.Org

1. Run Blender 2.49b.exe

2. Welcome - Click Next

3. License Agreement - Click I Agree

4. Choose Components - Click Next to accept defaults

5. Choose Location - Change from C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender to C:\Apps\Blender and click Next

6. Specify User Data - Select "Use Installation Directory" and click Next

7. Required System DLL Check - Click OK

8. Setup Complete - Click Finish

9. Make sure Blend starts up correctly and then close Blender.

If Blender fails to start, install MS Visual C++ 2008 runtime (included on this page)

Install PyFFI

Source: SourceForge.net

NOTE: If you do not have Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Runtime installed, do so now.

1. Run PyFFI-2.1.5-windows.exe

2. Select Language - Click OK to accept default of English

3. Welcome - Click Next

4. License Agreement - Click I Agree

5. Choose Components - Click Next to accept defaults of Documentation, Python 2.6 (32 bit) and Blender 2.4x (Python 2.6, 32-bit)

6. Choose Install Location - Change from "C:\Program Files\PyFFI" to "C:\Apps\PyFFI" and click Install

7. Setup Complete - Click Finish

8. Delete the "QSkope" shortcut on your desktop.

Install NIF Scripts

Source: SourceForge.net

1. Run blender_nif_scripts-2.5.5-windows.exe

2. Welcome - Click Next

3. License Agreement - Click I Agree

4. Choose Install Location - Click Next to accept default of C:\Apps\Blender\.blender\scripts

5. Choose Documentation Location - Change from C:\Program Files\NifTools\Blender NIF Scripts to C:\Apps\NifTools\Blender NIF Scripts

6. Installation Complete - Click Next

7. Setup Complete - Click Finish

8. Review the Readme and then close the file.

Install NifSkope

Source: SourceForge.net

1. Run nifskope-1.0.22-windows.exe

2. Welcome - Click Next

3. License Agreement - Click I Agree

4. Choose Install Location - Change C:\Program Files\NifTools\NifSkope to C:\Apps\NifTools\NifSkope and click Install

5. Installer will check for required DLLs - Click OK

6. Installation Complete - Click Next

7. Setup Wizard - Click Finish

8. Review the Readme and then close the file.

Configure NifSkope

1. Start NifSkope

2. Click Render, Settings

3. Click the button called "Auto Detect Game Paths" which should add Oblivion's Data folder.

4. If you extracted Oblivion's BSA files with BSA Commander, also add that path by clicking Add Folder

5. I also like having a 3rd path which always gets changed each time I download and extract a mod to a temp folder such as C:\Downloads\.

6. Click Render, Settings and make sure "Startup Version" is 20.0.0.5

7. Change the background color to match Oblivion's menu color by clicking Render, Settings, Colors tab, right-click on Background, click Hex Edit, type in RGB values of E6 CE A4

8. On an as-needed basis, toggle the display of the collision box by clicking Render, Draw Havok.

E - X - T - R - A - S

Install YafaRay - This is an additional render program for use with Blender.

1. Run YafaRay-0.1.1.exe

2. Installer Language - Click OK to accept default of English

3. Welcome - Click Next

4. License Agreement - Select "I accept the terms of the license agreement" and click Next

5. Select Destination Location - Change from "C:\Program Files\YafaRay" to "C:\Apps\YafaRay" and click Next

6. Installation Complete - Click Next

7. Setup Complete - Click Finish

i apologize for the lenght of this but i am lost trying to get this to work.do you know a complete step by step to use?the wiki sucks for this as i need to know exact install locations and the troubleshooter failed to enlighten me as to the problem.also do i have to change my python out of blender?i downloaded all the required file for Wrye Bash but am not sure what i did wrong.please help.thank you

Hi lonewolf, welcome to TESA :D

The first thing you need to do is re-install Oblivion outside of the Program Files folder. You'll have nothing but headaches if you leave it there.

Create a folder C:\Games and redirect the install to it so it comes out C:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion. The rest of these instructions will assume you've done that.

The lastest Wrye Bash has issues, so this is my suggestion. From the Nexus page download;

- the Wrye Python 03a package,

- the Wrye Bash 275 Self Installer,

- then scroll down the page and find Wrye Bash 287 - Archive Version and download (this is the most stable version).

The python 03a package has version 2.6.5 in it, but also has additional files required.

Uninstall the python 26 you have.

Launch Python 03a, it's an installer that will guide you through installation of all required files. Don't worry, it won't hurt Blender or anything.

Once that's installed, launch Wrye Bash 275 Self Installer and let it install to your (new) Oblivion folder.

Once that's installed unzip Bash 287 into your Oblivion folder and let it overwrite the existing files.

When that's done find the Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw file in the Mopy folder and copy a shortcut to your desktop.

It'll do some strange things when you first launch it but otherwise you should be good to go.

thank you very much.i will post back as soon as i do this and let you know if it worked.now one more thing....blender...will it still go through python wherever i put it?as i said im only just learning the tool and the tutorials i found so far are crap.im still having trouble with the interface.but thats still later for me as im cruising through the tescs rightnow.made a coulpa personal homes and am working on something to upload,simple house but hey walk first right?once again thank you.

wrye bash issues part 2

ok.so i got it to work.and having experimented with it i gotta ask....WTF!?!

without bashing the patch and only having ooo and mmm in,i go to viverin and have the thugs and new types of skeletons,put in warcry,frans,and fcom its no longer there.

how exactly do you build the patch.

i imported everything and it all goes away in game.another example,i use the cute elf mod.at first i can change eyes,hair.i bash the patch and i cant do that anymore.

so iguess i need to know what importing does exactly(the readme and help files dont explain it)and what exactly doi need to do in order to get all of it.frans wouldnt even show up.should i uncheck all im importing?

An FCOM setup is a whole different wild untamed beast. Whatever issues are most likely not due to Wrye Bash.



  1. Make sure you use BOSS to sort your load order first. Very important.
  2. Make sure all your mods are checked.
  3. Rebuild patch.
  4. If any of the mods are mergeable it will tell you that it's going to de-activate them. This is good.
  5. It's always best practice to go through each "Import" category on the left side of the bash patch window. Highlight the category and on the right side window it will tell you if there is anything to import. Check everything in the right window, then make sure the category is checked in the left window.
  6. The "Globals" and "Tweaks" categories are OPTIONAL. Decide what you want to use, or don't use any. It's up to you. (TIP: Don't use Mayo's skeleton tweak)
  7. Yes, import "Race Records" like the other Import categories.

If by doing this "it all goes away in game", then something else is wrong. Post a load order by right clicking the heading FILE in Bash, choose List Mods, and copy/paste it.

I have OBMM,BOSS and Wrye Bash.i use OBMM for main mod actvation,BOSS to sort,and Wrye to bash them.my FCOM is FCOM convergence and i DL'd uFCOM which is the omod conversion data by dev_akm

ok.i always use BOSS.heres how i do it.

deactivate deadly reflex

run BOSS

reactivate DR

left click oblivion.esm

scroll down to unneccessary violence Shift/left click

select mark mergable,get the pop up of mergables

right click on the bashed patch,rebuild

go through and click on everything to be merged/imported

start game

in game i leave the sewers and go to vilverin.in there the first NPC i meet should be a viverin thug.along the way there should be a coupla uberhulk larvaes,and the second level has always varied(even when it was just OOO and MMM)from skeletons with some armor to some zombie mistress/and her elven undead.i also go to fort urasek to see if the fallen ones are there.thats my test to see if its all in.

so i did it again,start new game,pick cute elf(i imported evrything including race records)CANNOT change eyes or hair.so i go to my save game at the end of the starter dungeon and go to vilverin.no uberhulks,no thugs,just a slaughterfish flopping on the shore and a bandit as i head down into vilverin,but i go to ft urasek and the fallen ones are there this time.so im not sure what im doing wrong with it. ever since i got BOSS i trust the load order it givesandi always read the report it gives.so here's my loadout

this is what BOSS just did.so if im missing something or theres a mod im running that i shouldnt(i know the last to load gets used)whats overwriting what?any help is appreciated as i would love to play it not just mod it.

Ok, this post is going to be long, and probably boring, but there is so much going on here it's all necessary to say. This is not a wrye bash issue it's now the dreaded FCOM install issue.

That is one HARD CORE game you've got going on. And it's going to be rough to build. Don't expect to just toss everything in and it will run smooth because it won't. This will take some work, and trial and error.

First of all, where's the Bashed Patch in your LO? Is it active? Need to see it so I can see what's before and after it - this is very important.

I don't understand your process at all. There's no reason to deactivate DR before running BOSS. Deadly Reflex should definitely be before the bashed patch. There's no reason to highlight only oblivion and unnecessaryviolence and marking mergeable. ALL your esp's just need to be checked in order to be properly merged by the bashed patch.

You have a lot of esp's here that should have been merged and de-activated. Wrye Bash should be telling you this, if done properly. A little trick I use, re-date your bashed patch (right click > File > Redate) to the current date so that all your mods will be recognized before running BOSS, and again before rebuilding the patch. This ensures nothing will be missed.

BOSS is ordering everything correctly as far as I can tell. BUT, the order in which each mod is installed is VERY IMPORTANT, as follows;

Unofficial Oblivion Patch + UOP Supplemental

Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch(if applicable)

DLC's + Patches(if applicable)

Frans 4.5b

OOO version 1.33 full patched to OOO 1.34 beta5

Oblivion WarCry

Bob's Armory

Armamentarium and Armamentarium Artifacts(optional)

Shivering - OOO

MOBS or OMOBS

Martigen's Monster Mod 3.7b3

FCOM 9.9 beta + supported add-ons

To complete FCOM, install the UFCOM files, overwriting where prompted.

**** Rebuild patch here

Very very important: WAIT the 3 day cell reset time before going anywhere, preferably from an indoor location (try coc testinghall, find Hawkhaven then can fast travel out again)

Now on to what's wrong with your load list.

All the Unofficial DLC patches + Supplemental (part of above)

I can't tell you why exactly why you're missing specific mobs in Vilverin. The recommendations above may help, or may not. But they need to be done to stablize your load order first.

well ive been fighting with it all day.hardcore doesnt quite cover it.(thought i heard my computer weeping and plotting a very bloody demise for me)my bash patch is usually right after unneccessary violence(not sure why that didntcopy o_O)and its active.as for deadly reflex i read somewhere(i think it was dev_akm'sFCOM page....and on more than one occassion during my search)that its best to load dead last,and not to be merged(iguess it causes CTD's in some cases)so i moved the bash patch to just before deadly reflex and got MMM activity in viverin AND got warcry.but i didnt get to change my elfs eyes or hair.i figured there was a certain way to put them all in but everywhere i looked didnt find anything like what you said.dev_akm's page was good but didnt get in depth for install order(ive seen ooo 1st mmm 2nd,etc. a few different versions on different pages) i guess(or is outdated which is what i think)

i have the UOP's (forgot to put them in)

i didnt put in mobs as i thought it was a part of fran's like realswords.

my MMM is an omod and didnt give a .esp for knights ill hunt one down

im gonna figure the unofficial DLC patch is the unofficial official mods patchwhich i got today.

have the uop shivering isles(why that wasnt in i dont know coulda swore i actvated it)and got the mobs version for frans

i knew this wouldnt be easy.everywhere i read says that fcom is a beast.

so a coupla questions.....does the bash patch .esp keep that info in there even though you rebuild it?say for example i build it once and it has my ooo stuff does that remain when i add mmm and rebuild it withh ooo and mmm?.....hmmmm....thats not what im trying to say i think....maybe keep ooo/....ooo/mmm no overwrite idk i hope you see what i mean...is it doublingup the ooo(if so that would explain an issue i was running into ,build it with everything checked,then try with only a coupla things checked start game,select load,and the loading screen would only go a quarter of the way )

and should i copy a new patch for when i do this ALL.......OVER.....AGAIN*sighs*

all of these are omods so ill deactivate them,defrag my folder,and start again.

will also try that date trick.i didnt experiment too much with any of the features because i dont want my computer to gak up on me(thing gave me the finger today)so ill copy your response to my desktop get some coffee and hide the hammer so i dont do something stupid.

*sighs again*all was well with just OOO & MMM.....why oh why oh why

:) Your poor PC. But hey, you're lucky. At least it's not CTD'ing.

The install order I listed above is basically taken from the link, in a more condensed form. There are extra things listed on that page, and you can go through it if you like but things like PFFYI'ing meshes is not necessary, and not something you need to worry about right now.

If DR needs to be loaded last (I see that on the Nexus download page) then trust BOSS to put it last. If, by any chance, it doesn't, you can always redate it as I mentioned above. It should be before the bashed patch though.

I totally forgot about the Cute Elves issue, sorry. The only thing I can recommend is to download the manual install version. It sounds to me like the OMOD isn't installing properly. With a manual install at least you'll know the meshes and textures are being put in the data folder properly.

As for your questions;

No, it recreates every time, with no history of what it did 5 minutes ago. So what it did with OOO is not the same as what it does with OOO + MMM. No, there's no doubling of information. Does that help?

Hmm, if they are then Bash should have de-activated them and they would have a little plus sign in the checkbox and turn green. If after building the patch they are still checked, uncheck them and see what happens.

Probably best, yes.

As an FYI, it may help, you can rebuild the Bash Patch over and over again without hurting anything. In fact, it's best to get into the habit of rebuilding after every new mod is installed.

Also, before you start over, make sure you do a clean save after you de-activate all the mods, on all your characters.

just a quick one

the cute elves thing......before i bashed the patch,i only had OOO,MMM and a coupla small mods added,i chose the character,could choose eyes hair,and when i got in game she had all her abilities(coupla spells and a necklace thingy announcing rank)thats been my main characterso a clean save will have to be done with her,,.....but anyway,it was when i bashed the patch and went too start a new game(the first one mentioned here was actually the guinea pig,but became the main because of this),thats when i couldnt change eys or hair.so its all in there this i know and this is where im wondering what exactly importing does and if im doing something wrong.when i get the rebuild of my game done(either today ro in the next couple of days we'll see)i'll try to get some screenshots of my patch building.i only have the trial version of fraps but ill do what i can so you can get a better sense of what im saying here.i am going to go through the link you gave me and follow that as best i can as the step by step seems pretty damn good.PYFFI'ing im not yet ready for anyway but i will look into it as my interest in modding and gamemaking is growing more and more.

but as far as it goes it may be the install order i did.ill let you know...lata playa

yeah so anyway....

i did a clean install of the game,added one by one all themods,building and rebuilding patches as i went.everything is in.thanks for the links.

and yet,im totally lost with this one.the cute elves thing,even building a patch and activating the omod as the last to load,example

still CANNOT change eyes and hair.

built the patch with it in,CANNOT change eyes and hair,

put rens in and took rens out still the same thing

tried removing tags

tried dating it to no avail

any ideas whats causing this?

SORRY ABOUT THAT.FIGUREDNIT OUT(KINDA)i deleted the omod and redownloaded the omod and put it in dead last(outside the bashed patch)and it works.my only theory is that it got corrupted somehow in the importing and merging.idk..........somewhere a snowmonkey laughs.lolz

onward to learning how to merge esp's with gecko,so my 100+armor mods can go in.thank you for your help

p.s.if you do happen tpo figure it out or come up witha better theory let meknow.thanx

also found a hot fix for DR5 so i got ir in the bashed patch and so far so good.

I'm using cute elves version 1.35 and had some problems with it. Trying to go back now and see what your problem is. Kind of confused with all the bash and mods your using. Give me a bit and I'll be back and edit this with any info I can to help.

Edit - The problem with cute elves is that you can't change the eyes and hair or did I miss something?

I had a lot of problems fixing this for someone else. Missing body parts, face and hair black. I tried to use the OMOD file that was on nexus and if I remember correctly I had to change body textures in the race configuration and then I extracted the OMOD to a compressed file and rebuilt the OMOD. I'm not sure but I think the problem started originally with the mod because he says it was bashed. Don't know if that made any difference but it was a mess trying to straighten it out. I have a compressed file that I made before i installed BOSS and Wrye Bash in my game. I have it loaded in a bash patch now without any ill effects. Below is my load order to show where it's located. Look for the <-----------------------------------

My first suggestion is take the OMOD you have without any changes and use OBMM and tell it to extract it to a compressed file. (You can do this without having it activated in OBMM) Copy it some where else in a temp directory and extract it and look at the file paths and verify that they are correct.

If this doesn't solve it for you let me know and I'll dig it up and see what else I can do with it for you.

@arion.yes thats been the issue.when i start a new game i pick the race but i cant change her eyes.and it random what hey are,sometimes red sometimes black.the hair cant be changed either.so far redownloading and putting it dead last without merging and importing lets me use th mod as it should be.the strange thingwas that the first version i had seemed corrupted somehow.i only say this because when i did my clean re install of oblivion in order to get FCOM goodness(which is there....finally)i did the exact same thing.i built the patch without cute elves in at all.then activated it to be last in the load order and it still wouldnt let me change the eyes or hair.so my limited thinking got me to redownload it and try that and now it works.it seems that the import and merge did something with the eye and hair options.idk any other explanation.

and when i first downloaded it it did work.and i never had any conflicts with it in my obmm.is it possible that since rens is a part of cute elves(also a couple more beauty packs in there)that importing takes those resources and spraeds them out over the race lists?and then not put them back?just shooting some hairbrained theories.

im not sure ill need to extract.as i said the new download works just fine(its the same 1.3.5 that i downloaded before),i just cant put it in to the bash patch without the stated issues.

just bear with me im still learning how to do most of this.my current project is trying to use DMC stylish with mur_zik's sexywalks.i found a solution on blade of mecy's 50 +++ page and am trying to get that to work.TES4Edit seems easy enough yet im playing cautios.still studying the blender interface for creating things for the game.and animation.and tescs,etc.etc.this game taught me alot about what goes in to a game.and how much work you have to do in order to play the damn thing!!lolz!!!

and can someone tell me why even with the HGEC body mod(or even exnems)a dainty little cute elf,wood elf,or even imperial women have man hands?i kid you not.i open up my inventory she has a dainty female body yet hands and arms like a guy.........weird.no im not using roberts mod.theyseem to be the vanilla arms andhands.i heard that bethesda basically gave male and female much the same with some features,is there a mod or patch that fixes this?

I don't know. Mine's been bashed and patched and it works. Took a lot of tweaking with the setup for the race to have it work. What I have now is not the original OMOD.

This is pretty much the default. I didn't bother workign with her face since its only a test.

If you are using HGEC then go into the race menu and make sure that you have the myelf foot texture set for upper, lower, and foot. There's a hand in there as well.

yeah that did it.now she actually looks like a cute elf.thanx.will post screenshots when im done figuring out these idle poses and the dmc walks.so far i got the walk without a sword and the walk with a one hand sword.having trouble trying to getthe walk with two hand sword without overwriting the sword on shoulder idle(which is the two handed sword idle).tried renaming the 0Sexywalk01.kf to twohandforward.kf.all that did was give me the one hand walk that comes with sexy walk.any ideas how i could mix the pose withe walk?
