Is it possible to somehow make it so that I can have the grass off ALL the time, w/o having to type "tg" on the console each & every time I get on the game?

If you drag the grass distance slider all the way to the left in the in-game video settings, it should stay off all the time, provided you exit the game without crashing after making the change.

True, but I remember a command called SaveINI, which made it so you don't have to exit without crashing to retain any settings.
Maybe it was in Fallout 3, or I've gotten it wrong, but I know I've used it.

If you keep crashing and the change doesnt stick, then next time, make your changes, and in the console, type "Save ini".
