CS Basics: Lesson #2

I started to bump my earlier posting yesterday, but thought I saw something on the rules here about that being a no-no - so stopped myself. These fixes have been posted since the 30th of July (see above), if there is more I need to fix before passing on to Lesson 3 (plus the extra credit on Lesson 2) - please tell me what more to fix? I notice my grade is still reflecting only Lesson 1's points...argh.

It's a great start Mal but needs some work (no luck with a different mouse huh?). You pathing has too many overlapping nodes. Have a look at the example pics again and try to match what you see. Several items in the room appear to be floating, the bear rug, the barrel, etc, do some camera work and see if you can track those down and get them flush with the floor. Once you get an item above the floor, use the F key to drop it that will help with your placement. Also looks like your books are clipping into the bookcase that will be a problem in game. Your door needs to be rotated to face inward to the house, and the one chair by the bookcase is sunk into the floor, the feet of the blue man should be on the floor not below it.

Just some minor tweaks, have a go, and please press A to turn on the worklight before taking screens, easier for these old eyes to see clearly XD

Back to work now, you have a very good start especially without a mouse. :ok:

I've made a copy of the above to get working on it, meanwhile here is an edit to the Pathgrid. I didn't know how to handle it when two pods were in the same place. I tried deleting one of them and lost a bunch of yellow lines with it. (control Z didn't undo the delete, lol) . Anyway, this pathgrid is a little cleaner, but still may have issues because of two places that have the pods stacked ontop one another.

Was there more I need to fix?

It looks good Mal, sorry for not responding sooner, I thought I had to be honest, but I have a lot on my own modding plate right now, please bear with me. I will award points for this class, well done.

WHEW !!! Thank you so much !! Er ... while I was waiting, I did Lesson #3 (plus the extra credit for the Lesson). I have been struggling with the "Credit Challenge" Basement though. My issues with it are directly related to not understanding how the "Snap to Grid" works.

I followed that link you posted; there were crucial places where the author glided over sections (most likely because it seemed rudimantary and fundamental knowledge). The remedial basics are essential for me, though.

(have a :cookie4u: as a bribe).

Er ... is there any more detailed and precise explanation (and by precise, I mean "step by step")? I would so appreciate the help, (before I tear my hair out over one ridiculously ornary "L-Way" piece).

Any assistance that takes the form of "Snap to Grid for Dummies" would be greatly appreciated!

Yay, completed the second lesson :jellytime:

I've done everything suggested, however as it's not shown I'll just say that instead of going for a glass longsword, I made a levelled item for the chest so that a newbie wouldn't get a beast item early in the game ;)

Here are my pics:

Pathgrid? PATHGRID!!

Mmmm food for thought ;P

Wine on a rack?! Whatta posh farmer!

Mmmm crab carrot sandwich!!

Crafty farmer!!!

Prepared for a cozy winter

Beastily rich farmer!

Can I haz :cookie4u: ?

Coming along very nicely. :) Looks like you've got the basics of placement down perfectly.

You get full marks for homework, but unfortunately I can't give you marks for extra credit. I see the food/wine there, but you didn't provide a picture of the door nor do I see a second container. I need pics of the specific homework/credit items to mark you on it!

Also, I need to see the reference window of your chest.
