New TESA Staff Codes Explained

Hail Allies, Ambassadors, VIPs, and Patrons,

Starting today, TES Alliance staff will be introducing a new color coded message system to improve staff communication with members around the site. In the past, when need arose for a staff member to edit a post, thread, or take some other action on site, our only means of communicating this change directly was an [EDIT] tag, sometimes highlighted in red in an attempt to draw attention. Because users can also color fonts however, this system of tagging our actions has proven inefficient and some users have even gotten confused by where the extra content came from and edited our tags out of their posts. :bagged:

To improve on this system we have added a set of special tags for our staff's use in communicating. These tags come in four varieties:

  • Success The green success tag will most often be used to verify a successful action such as closing a thread per request.

  • Notice The gold notice tag will mostly be used to publicly nudge or correct about minor violations

  • Info The blue information tag, will be used to highlight important but general site information worth noting.

  • Warn The red warn tag will be used to signal when warns will start being dolled out for certain member actions, if those actions do not immediately cease.

So what do they look like? These are some example of the new staff code system :down:

[success=Topic Lock]Locked Per OP Request[/success]

[notice=Link Removed]Due to content violating our PG-13 rating, Do Not Repost[/notice]

[warn=Comment Removed]We do not allow flaming on this board, additional violations will result in punitive actions[/warn]

[info=Shouty 101]For instruction on using the shoutbox, see our HowTo Tutorial Here: [/info]

When a staff member edits on of these codes into your post, it is a way for us to communicate with members, but more importantly, it's how we communicate to one another so that members do not find themselves corrected 3, 4, 8 times. :D Under no circumstance, is a member to edit or remove these tags from their posts. To do so is to disrupt staff functionality and may result in punitive measures taken against said editor. :uhuh:

If you have any questions, comments of concerns on this new feature, please feel free to post here. :salute:
