Bethesda forums breached

It appears we now have an explanation for the downtime on Bethesda's forums: a security breach occurred today that compromised the password database of the forums. Due to the posed danger, the entire password database has been purged.

If this is your fist time visiting the BethSoft forums today, you will need to reset your password.

Also note that Avatars are disabled for the time being.

Wondered, then refreshed and saw the notification. Too bad their recovery process is broken and won't validate according to the instructions it sent. Claims my member ID doesn't exist, yet I still see my threads there.

EDIT: Took a few tries, but it eventually worked. Silly system.

Things are not looking good this year it seems, hackers are getting more frequent in their attacks. Sony, bethesda.. god only knows how many other companies. They're really hitting the game/electronic places. I'm beginning to wonder what's up with that.

I don't think Bethesda had updated yet to the most current version of IP.Board. Perhaps they should heed this attack and do so.

We were chatting about this latest attack and were wondering if it might be related to the lawsuit over "scrolls".

Edit: and yeah, let's hope IP.Board 3.2 is a little more robust.
