Player Caution:

Since RST's release I've heard several players say "Oh I consoled through" or "Hey just console it to setstage _______" so I thought this should be addressed somewhere. You do NOT want to console through RST, it's a bad idea in general but even more for this mod, really really. RST has a very interconnected design. Let's say you are stuck in MQ02 stage 24 and you console advance to 25 to get passed a glitch or bug or whatever, YAY that works! What you might not realize is that, had it run properly the next update would have updated stage 25 but ALSO stage 5 in MQ04 preparing for a future event. So when you get to MQ04 that event won't fire and you'll be stuck, only you can't go back and can't console through because MQ04 was since advanced to 10 and the stage 5 setup was missed. This creates frustration for you because you have to go back to MQ02 stage 24, and makes it harder for me to track real bugs when I'm chasing console created phantoms, errors made by consoling.

This is not a simple questline, please do NOT console over bugs or glitches, I'd hate for folks to miss things or play things out of order because the console messed it up. Instead, please report bugs and let me fix them. I've been bug tracking daily, this mod is very closely supported. An update will always be around the corner and if the update is delayed by a particularly tricky bug I will provide a console bump if it's in a safe place to do so without breaking anything later.

UPDATE:

Here it is, my wife's birthday and I'm posting an update, man you guys are spoiled! XD Version RC1.0.3 has now released on TES Alliance and TES Nexus. You may overwrite your .esps and resume gameplay at your leisure. Please note ONLY the .esp has been updated. There is no reason to download the other files again for this version. This is a list of bugs fixed in this latest update:

  • Various AI issues with Master Bruin Hrothgar (Not appearing, disappearing, locking up) -Fixed in RC1.0.1

  • Added some minor aesthetic changes to Cloud Ruler Temple

  • Added Console Warning to ReadMe

A Note on the RST Wiki

I know many of you are turning to the RST Wiki for help getting started and finding it a bit bare. Two years ago we started the RST Wiki, working on it behind the scenes for this exact time. Then about a week or two before release, our wiki host dropped the wiki software from their service unannounced and our wiki was gone, just like that. :( So, the wiki you see now on Wikia.com is only a couple weeks old and we've been working on it daily to provide the information you need. We're shifting our attention today to the starting quests since that seems to be hanging up some folks. It will become more valuable given some time, I'm sorry it's not as full and informative as it could have been. :)

Thank you for your patience while I sorted this bug batch (you notice they're getting smaller!) and for all of those who have reported errors, conflicts, and the like I continue to appreciate your valuable input. Thanks for helping make her even better. Cheers!

Hiya, Rider, quickee question here.

I was just wondering if RST might have some neat-o goodies for a magic oriented character?

My currently running character is a mage in nearly the purest sense. He will never touch any weapons or armor outside of Bound equipment, so while I'm sure RST will have plenty of trophy potential for him, I'm a bit finicky on things he can actually use according to his RP.

New robes? New staves? Maybe a couple interesting spells? If yes, great. If not, no biggie, I'll still give him his time 'round the block.

Just wondering, though. Not suggesting. ;)

Yep yep, have you seen these?

This is the Blade Battlemage standard staff:

And Galathon's Juggernaut is a flame variant, one of a kind in the Cloud Ruler Shop (unlocks post MQ):

Last staff is Kadan's Arcane War Staff, blue/gold variant, another one of a kind in RST, for some reason I don't have the render image. :lmao:

There's also a Blades Battlemage hood which offers a shield bonus and pairs well with any Blades armor, and Red/Gold Imperial Dragon robes. :good:

There are also several new potions, poisons, and ingredients on the menu for mages. :yes:

i finished RST about 2 days ago. i have to say it was impressive. even though (or maybe even partly because) the puzzles in the quests made me want to pull my hair out at times. i just wish it was longer. *sigh* well, anyway i just wanted to say i enjoyed it. thanks for your hard work, and the hard work of your crew too.

Note: If you update to RC1.0.4 and the main gates to Sancre Tor are locked, please use the console to unlock them. Because new players can now bypass the opening escort, the main gates have been locked to prevent them from arriving in Sancre Tor prematurely. If you are already passed that point you will have missed the unlock stage, so you need to do a one time manual unlock. This is a dirty save error not a bug. :popcorn:

Special thanks to Khettienna who helped debug the major AI hiccups I created this go around. XD This is not the final update for RST, I am still tweaking some minor bugs that don't interfere in gameplay, I will be moving those fixes to 1.0.5 to prevent any additional delays with 1.0.4. If the voice work is all turned in and finalized before I finish I will skip 1.0.5, and go directly to 2.0 with voiced dialogue. :good:

I know this one seemed forever in the making, there were just a lot of things to fix, I got a bit burned out and when the last two bugs proved really challenging to sort I needed to step back and do something else between bouts of banging my head against it just to stay sane. But, all is well now. There is some more polishing ahead planned for version 2.0 to follow, however, that version is teh voiced version and several actors submitted only partial performances before disappearing so I need to recast some roles and try again to get v2.0 voiced.

Just to dispel the fears out there, yes I am courting a new Skyrim project, but that doesn't mean I'm done with Oblivion or RST, I still have plans to follow through with 2.0 and will never stop supporting RST as long as I'm in this community. :thumbsup: Enjoy 1.0.5, I hope she corrects some issues you folks are having, obviously some of these fixes won't be able to resolve dirty saves, you may need to back up to before you hit the bug and try again clean. :yes:

Thanks for all the work on RST. I have been recently trying more of the large mods out there and believe that RST was the most in depth one out there so far. It Frustrated the hell out of me , but in a good way. I can't believe that I'm still playing Oblivion , but that shows the level of creativity in the modding community. Thanks again and I'm sure we're all looking forward to version 2.0

With all that said.... When I draw "The Dragon Blade" the scabbard is drawn with it. It looks like I'm going to beat someone silly with a large stick of bamboo. Any Ideas ???

There is a SCB.00 so i renamed it to just scb and that did the trick!! Thanks for the tip. Although..... Woopin ars with a stick was pretty funny! Looking forward to 2.0 On another note... Its a shame really that Skyrim hasn't been used to its fullest when it comes to community created quests. Maybe in time it'll pickup. (Please god NO MORE BODY MODS) ....sorry... lost my head.

I'm having a fairly brutal issue here: I can guide to the door of Sacre Tor, but it then freezes on the load screen at zero progress.

I'm playing a Steam install transfered into a Cider wrapper, and as such have no access to tools such as Wrye Bash & BOSS.

my load order is as follows - edited via the plugins.txt file. I've tried disabling a few other mods, but the problem remains the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Oblivion Citadel Door Fix.esp has been known to cause some oddities in RST. Also, bladefactionmod.esp sounds suspect, depending on how far you progressed in that mod, it may cause issues with rank progression and access passes in RST; ie some of RST's load doors check for rank.

Taking those two out was the first thing I tried, but to no avail.

Of course it may help if I go do something else in-game for a while then come back to it when everything's had a chance to update.... Worth a try :)

After making the above post I cunningly read the html readme and added the appropriate files to oblivion.ini

*And* I just realised that I hadn't activated the Battlehorn DLC at all. Ever. Oops.

 

FInally, occurred just now that I can reinstall Oblivion with my Skyrim wrapper and use Wrye Bash / BOSS from there. It won't launch the game itself, but I may still get a good load order out of it.

 

Will report back when I've made everything slightly less broken.

Righty. I plugged everything back into the Wine install, got Wrye Bash and BOSS running, rejigged my load order [and discovered, bizarrely, that the Unofficial patches had all vanished from my Data folder], unchecked the stuff known to conflict and that wasn't really needed...

 

and got CTDs. Bummer.

 

I've now eliminated everything that could possibly be causing a conflict, except things I consider game-essential [and which the game plain wouldn't load without] and I've rechecked oblivion.ini.

Sancre Tor absolutely will not darned well load. It just won't. I either get a freeze or a CTD when entering the door, every time, under every combination of mod and load order.

 

Unless I'm missing something really painfully obvious, this just doesn't want to work.

The rest of the game is running blissfully [except Battlehorn and Frostcrag: the buyables refuse to be successfully bought.] I cannot figure this out.
