Welcome to the Final Exams

At last you arrive at your final challenge in the CK Basics course, time to put all that you've learned to the test and see what you can accomplish on your own. You can refer back to the lessons if you need to, but do try and complete as much as you can without the tutorial crutch; challenge yourself and those newly won skills. If you have been diligent in completing the homework and challenges throughout this course, you will be able to complete this exam with ease so don't be nervous. :good:

:smarty:Smarty Says: Think you're ready to try your hand at a release mod? Complete the Release Option exam. Not only will you be able to release your first mod, but you will earn a special forum medal in addition to your CS Basics Medal!

The Exams

This Final Exam is worth 20pts toward your CK Basics Medal. Remember to post in-game screens, and in CK screens of your NavMesh, when you have finished so you can earn the full credit for your hardwork.

There are two exam forms posted below, Non-Release and Release. You may choose to one or the other but follow the instructions carefully, you cannot mix and match the requirements. When posting screens of your finished exam please include a statement on whether you are doing the Non-Release exam or the Release exam.

Time to cue up the CK and begin your exam, good luck, students! :lucky:

Final Examination: Release Option

Release is not required for completing the CK Basics course and earning a CK Basics Medal, but if you do this Release Option form, release here on TES Alliance or on Steam Workshop is required to pass the class and earn the CK Basics Medal and the special CK Release Medal.

ABOUT RESOURCES: You may use modder resources for your final exam if you are doing the release option. However, you must credit the original authors in an included readme file and you must still complete the outlined requirements for the exam. Be sure you package your resources with your .esp before release.

Requirements:

  • Create a new interior cell and add house interior kits (choose any style house Int)
  • Add furniture, containers, pathing, statics (ie bookcase, tapestries), lighting, and generic clutter
  • Add a basement for an additional 10pt bonus (optional)
  • Choose at least one exterior cell anywhere in Skyrim way from Half-Moon Mill and rename it from wilderness to something unique (you may claim neighboring cells in addition, but be sure to name them all sequentially)

  • Add Load Door and link to Matching Interior Load Door
  • Landscape around your house where needed
  • Landscape a path with broken road statics up to your house
  • Create an extra exterior feature (ie, stable, shed, garden etc) for the Exam house

  • Add containers, statics, and crafting furniture to clutter the exterior
  • Adjust exterior NavMesh pathing
  • Add some creative touches of your own

Final Exam Notes for Release:

  • Even though you release, you are still required to post screens here for your credits
  • Make a proper release with descriptions and screens on your filepage
  • You may not expand this exam into a town, dungeon, settlement, etc. House mods only please

A note abou't the exterior: I do realize there is a tree in the decking on the left side of the porch. It seems to be a mod conflict with something but i am unsure what, so i cant remove it. That tree was not intended to be there.

Looks great Maddox, really well done. To award your points, I need a link to the released mod. :good:

Also, just to clarify for others, Roombounds are not covered by the scope of this course and are not required for the final exams as they are not used in spaces the size we created in our classwork. For more information on Roombounds, see the CK Wiki, or stay tuned for the Enclave's Level Design course here on TES Alliance which build upon what we began here including Roombounds and optimization. :smarty:

I have uploaded the mod but for some reason it was red. It didnt appear on the latest files either so I thought that means it needs review from admin or something before others can see it.

Here it is.

As for the roombounds, kinda felt they were needed as I went with kinda dungeony design due to lack of stone house kit.

For you, because of the size of your interior, they are, I just made the note so that others don't think they're required to just use them :good:

The release looks great, you did a really nice job, been a pleasure having you in class. Good luck with whatever you do next, and congrats on your release.

Since I feel I don't have the skills yet to do a release I'd be proud of, I did the non-release final. I took a good sum of pictures, but if you feel you don't see something let me know:

Looks really nice McSquirmie. Your NavMesh appears to be clipping really close to some furniture in the interior, around the beds and benches, it doesn't quite look navigable, try moving the mesh a little further away from the edge of the furniture. :good:

Sorry about that, I'm still trying to get used to Navmeshing correctly. I haven't modded since Oblivion. Here are the new Navmeshes, though now I'm afraid it doesn't look like an NPC could fit in between the beds...

Hail and fair greetings Commander Scholar.

I thought I should mention my intention to complete this course and that I'm not avoiding the Finals. :lmao: I have begun work on said finals, however other duties call from time to time and this may cause my submission to run a little lengthier than the other students so far. :bagged: My estimation is a week to 10 days, but if anything changes that I'll be sure to let you know.

Thank you and thank you for a fantastic course!

Here is my final exam: Ragnar's Rock (release)

Ralof: Hey, what village are you from horse thief?

Lokir: Why do you care?

Ralof: A Nord's last thoughts should be of home.

Lokir: Rorikstead, I'm... I'm from Rorikstead.

Sadly, after the opening sequence nobody in Rorikstead seems to remember or even mention Lokir. I figured there should at least be a house nearby that has just become available for a starting adventurer to claim for themselves. The area got its name from the large rock nearby that was named in honor of Ragnar the Red.

Here is the Steam Workshop link:

In game pictures:

I hope all those links work. I had a lot of pictures so I didn't want my post to be too big.

Hail DarkRider! I was gettin a little worried you might think I had bailed on the course but I haven't! I want to mention an issue which I can't for the life of me fix. Grass for starters; even though it's gone in game continues to show in the CK. Also in game there's a tree that shows up in the middle of the porch which is not there in the CK. I have taken a sceen to show this. So without further ado here's my screenys!

The Interior

gallery_17247_309_490919.jpggallery_17247_309_129268.jpg

gallery_17247_309_503479.jpg

I know looks a little bright. I forgot to set the cell's lighting template; I fixed that right away but ofcourse after all the screens were taken.

Now for the exterior

gallery_17247_309_132003.jpggallery_17247_309_39520.jpg

And the porch tree...

gallery_17247_309_59391.png

How'd I do?

As mentioned in the class, the floating grass in the CK is a CK Bug, you can't change that, but as long as the grass is gone in game, you're good. :ok: The tree seems to be a conflict or bug of some kind, another student had the same issue, I won't be deducting points for that.

So, aside from those two points everything else looks great, you'll receive full marks for the exam. :good: You've now graduated the CK Basics course, this is a great example of a non release final exam, super job
