If you have or might upgrade to a 6-core or more processor, Windows may not show all 6 cores. Instead it might show only 4 cores.

Q: Why is it doing this?

A1: Windows is kinda (mostly) stupid!

A2: Your motherboard does not support the processor. Check the Manufactures website for details on if the board does or not.

A3: BIOS Firmware might be outdated. Check the Manufactures website for details about updates.

Q: How do I fix it?

A:

1. Run msconfig (Start Menu >> Run OR Search)

2. Go to boot tab, then advanced options tab,

3. Uncheck the number of processors box, It should NOT be checked. Then Click OK

4. Restart the computer and once booted up all cores should show up for you.

There you have it, your computer should be showing all 6 (or more) cores. If not, I would contact the manufacture of the board.
