Saying goodbye to Rowan

I've encountered a problem with Rowan the boy in the training stages.

In the walkthrough here it states that Rowan will give you the sword Southwind. At the beginning of Basic Training I let him lead me throughout the entire rebuilt Sancre Tor fortess until we arrived at our "dorms" and he was done. I completed the Basic Training part of the adventure and Rowan isn't giving up the Southwind.....

Did you go meet him in your room and go through the good bye dialogue?

You need to have met Bruin and go see Rowan once he tells you to go say good bye.

Hanaisse: Yes I met him in my the room after finishing the basic training. He didn't have much to say.

Ysne58: I'll try your recommendation. I currently have RST unloaded at the moment. I'm waiting for the the looping text dialogue for the accursed blade to be fixed before I reload and play through.

Make sure you follow him outside and talk to him again for the quest to progress to the point where you go say good bye to Rowan.
