[SKY] Oblivion nif imported to Skyrim nif - weird texture

I tried to import a flower from Oblivion (Flax blue) to Skyrim using IS's tutorial.

This is how the original looks like: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/zSmSWuvDRFxCr-18IJJ9Z8PrtvMIsBCnarRlj-VdDU8?feat=directlink

And this is how it looks after I imported the NiTriStrips (same texture) https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/2VWgQBd_HiF1CyNHK-S2RMPrtvMIsBCnarRlj-VdDU8?feat=directlink

:smarty: Smarty Says: Just remember, you can't release or share any work that you ported from Oblivion unless it was a modder's resource.

The flower is missing an NiAlphaProperty, right click the plant node, then select Node>Attach Property>NiAlphaProperty. You'll see this added to your block list, now follow the part of the tutorial where we add the BSLightingShaderProperty to the properties list of the node.

The NiAlphaProperty should sit below the BSLightingShaderProperty in the properties list.

Yippie! It works!

Thank you IS!

And of course I know that Oblivion files may not be converted, it is just for my own pleasure :)

Edit:

When I turn the flowers in NifSkope, the texture does not show on the bottom side, only on the upper side.

The flowers are setup to only display one sided, not sure it'll be a problem in-game though.

If it is a problem in-game, you can follow the steps above to add an NiStencilProperty to your node, but you'll have to take an additional step.

When you look at the properties list you'll notice a number to the right, usually it's 2 (Tab is called Array1), you'll need to change this to 3 then update the array. You will then be able to add your 3rd property to the list.

I'm not 100% sure how well the game will like it though, so back up your NIF before doing this.

Thank you very much indeed :trophy: - I found out myself meanwhile by trial and error :lmao:

Now I am going to look at it ingame.

Edit: At the first look all was o. k. in NifSkope but when I tried to add it in the CK I got an error nif (exclamation mark). So I loaded the nif again and on loading I had this message:

The NiStencilProperty was on the right place before saving the nif.

But at least the first import (without the NiStencilProperty) looks quite nice ingame:

I just must not creep on the ground when I look at them :D

So I fiddled around again with the flower import and found out that a good result depends on the nif that serves as base for the import. On my first attempt I simply picked a cup as basic mesh and imported the NiTriStrips. Today I picked a cabbage.nif which already has an NiAlphaProperty attached and to my astonishment it displays the upper and the bottom side of the texture!

In addition to this I looked up free flower-textures on the internet and found nice examples to play with. I also replaced the leaf texture with one I found there and adjusted it’s colour to the stem.

This is how my Red Flower looks like in Nifskope

And this is how the new flowers look in the game:
