Advanced Project Hosting/Tracking Suite on TES Alliance

TES Alliance is proud to offer serious modders a diverse, and integrated arsenal of tools for their project development. In this thread you'll find all the information you need to make the most of Project Tracking. From paper planning to release TES Alliance will have your back with all the support you need to get through those long hours in the Creation Kit.

I. Project Leaders

Project Leaders are members who have had a project approved for the hosting/tracking suite on TES Alliance. They carry the copper project leader tag under their IDs on the forums and (provided they don't also belong to a superior group) their names appear in Copper. Project Leaders have total access to the tracking suite in order to maximize their effectiveness in the leadership role. They can bypass moderation and approval when uploading files, manage the tracker, add events to our calendar, moderate the hosted forum, and more. They can earn Project Leader Medals for achieving modding milestones, and can even award medals to their team members to boost collaboration.

As a special bonus, Project Leaders can submit a custom team tag design, or request one of ours to be added to the forum ranks of their team members!

II. Team Blog

The Team Blog is a great way for projects to update their fans and keep a clutter free archive of the project's development. Project Leaders can assign Team Members as editors so the whole Team can work together to maintain the news stream. Users can link into the blog's RSS feed to keep updated regularly with any new information the team posts. Custom blocks allow teams to customize their blog, and paid themes can be added to match the blog to the forums.

III. Hosted Forum

The classic standard for hosted projects, TES Alliance is proud to continue offering project forums for all hosted projects as a cornerstone for the hosting/tracking suite. Project Leaders can choose whether their forum is public or private, or even a bit of both! The Project Leader maintains full moderation control over the project forum, able to pin topics, lock topics, merge, split and more.

Our forums also include a built in progress bar bbcode that allows for easy progress marking!

As an optional perk, teams can purchase skin customizing from our subscriptions module. For a one time payment of $10, the TESA Team will customize the hosted forum skin to the color scheme of the Project Leader's choosing, complete with a custom logo/header pane. This customizing can be added to the project team's blog as well to create a solid theme for their public media.

IV. In-Dev Gallery

In addition to any gallery albums team members may have already authored, the hosting.tracking suite offers each Project Leader a new album for their development screens in TESA's Hosted Project Gallery. With a single click, the entire album can be linked in a forum thread sing the MyMedia tool on the post editor. It's a great way to link users to development screens without cluttering a thread with dozens of links. Add a link to the project slideshow so users can browse the album's full content up close with a single click.

V. Project Tracking

At the pinnacle of our hosting/tracking suite is the all new project tracker!

Newissue.jpg

Users can submit bug reports directly to the tracker, uploading any screenshot evidence directly, and categorizing the issue. Other users can verify with a click if they have experienced the bug too, giving project leaders a confirmation count at a glance.

IssuePage.jpg

Project leaders can respond to the report by changing the status level along a range from low to high and categorizing the type of bug reported (ie Confirmed, Dirty Save, Cannot Reproduce, etc). Back on the tracker, the reports will then highlight the status/category assigned by the project leader so they can see the issues at a glance and focus priority where it's needed most.

IssueUpdated.jpg

When an issue is resolved, Project Leaders can close the issue, change the status to resolved, and add the version number for the fix. The project tracker goes above and beyond the service of a forum for bug tracking and sorting through reports. Imagine never having to sift through a forum to find the bug reports or to refer a user to a solution you posted on another page for the same issue. For serious bug tracking and support this is a must have for modders.

See it in action here!

VI. Live Collaboration

When it comes to collaboration on a mod project, nothing compares to live interaction for kicking around ideas, making plans, and troubleshooting as a team. Projects Leaders can schedule a private chat session in our chat room, during which only their team will have access to shoot chatter back and forth without worrying about coordinating external IM programs.

Chatroom-1.jpg

In addition, each hosted project also qualifies for a private channel on our ventrilo server where teams can meet and collaborate voice to voice whenever need arises.

VII. Getting Started

Any member in good standing on TES Alliance, with a project developed passed the idea stage, can apply for the rank of Project Leader and gain free access to all the perks the suite contains and rank entitles. Please note that VIPs, Patrons, and Ambassadors are automatically accepted based on the privileges of their current ranks.

To get started with the project tracking suite on TES Alliance, you need to just put in an application. Simply download, fill out the form, and submit to DarkRider via PM to have your project considered for access to the toolset. Project Tracking Application.doc :good:

Have questions? Post them here and we'll help you sort out the details over a frosty mug :pint:

Thanks for referring this to me, DarkRider. I think the Black Marsh project are likely to use it. Furthermore, we're currently in our alpha phase so we'd like to start looking around for a few more testers if you know of any. However, there's still plenty more features such as finalising dungeons and finishing quests to put in there so it's not feature-complete yet.

No problem. :good: The tracker can be used across many developmental versions too so if you do a WIPz release you can still use it to track bugs, you'll just adjust the version numbers as you get closer to the final product. The tracker can also be private, so only for your testers and Team as opposed to a public tracker (though public is good PR even when bug hunting )

TESA has a Beta Testing Guild, you might consider applying there and letting the testers have a go, they are seasoned at the job, it's a very good service.
