Stormcloaks vs Imperials

for the war, I sided with the Imperials and we won.. took over winterhold, killed the jarl, "liberated the natives".

As I wander about now, I keep stumbling upon camps of rebel stormcloaks who start picking fights. I proceed to kill them all, but the captain does not die. He goes to zero health then bounces back to full health. I either have to run away until he's out of range or kill him in the console. There is no dialogue to be had with him. He just starts swinging.

is this a defect or am I missing something in the content I should be doing differently? This has happened 3 or 4 times now, different camps.

Bethsoft didn't resolve the civil war properly, even after completion folks will behave as if teh war still rages on. Your best bet is to avoid Stormcloak camps if you don't feel like the fight and yeah the captains on either side tend to be essential.

This same 'bug' really bugged me too. Except in my case, I tried to stop the execution in Solitude. And that one guard would not die, followed me all the way to dragon bridge before I used my teleport to get away.

Haha, I remember trying to stop that execution. Oh, and I remember on my first character, I marched straight into Solitude, walked right up to General Tullius, and stabbed him in the back. If only he would have died... I was actually disappointed, as I was hoping to 'break the game' in a sense.

Perhaps some day TES, or video games in general, will reach a stage in which you can literally do ANYTHING, and the game world will respond accordingly.
