I'm getting the oblivion needs to close message before the game gets started.I havent added anything for a while or done anything different lately.I searched but didnt find any instances of this happening to anyone.

Any suggestions would be helpful otherwise it looks like re-installation.

Hi elias :)

I've moved your thread over to Hardware/Software, as it sounds like it's a hardware problem. I did a cursory Google search of your thread's title and found this forum thread:

Tech Support Guy Thread

The jist of that thread is the poor guy was trying to run OB with onboard graphics. If you post your computer's specs, someone with more tech savvy than I will come by and help :)

Sorry for posting in the wrong place. It did give some details but it was in code.I kept trying to start the game every once in a while and it just started working again so who knows! I'm running a gtx 285 graphics card that should handle the game although if you wanna push your system we all now that heavily modded morrowind or oblivion are happy to oblige lol.

Thanks for the quick responses hopefully it was just a quirk of some kind.A reboot mightv'e helped and I'm going to defrag just because.

Sometimes making the game generate a new .ini will help solve odd problems. Do this by renaming the oblivion.ini located in My Documents/My Games/Oblivion. (It resides in the location of the saved games). It's especially useful if you've had the game installed and not played it recently.

If the error message said something about BEX, then it was a data protection error. Those are easy to fix, but like anything that involves changing Windows' system settings, it's best not to mess with it unless necessary.
