Hello, people. I'm Cris Spiegel. Nice to meet you all. I've followed tutorials here for quite some time and decided now to ask for help. I'm asking the same thing in the Nexus forums, in case you think you're having deja vu.

I'm trying to add a new body part / armor as a skin for a custom monster, but it doesn't show in CK (only as Armor Addon). When I preview the actor, it doesn't render. Body part numbers and race in Nifskope, Armor Addon and Armor are alright, I think. It's not the first time I add body parts, but I can't figure out what goes wrong when this happens. It renders fine as a static.

Here the fellow I'm trying to make: http://www.mediafire.com/download/w1qciw4cz98t84s/WanderingBeholderByCrisSpiegel.zip

Please, please, help me.  :crybaby:

My first suggestion would be, if this is just a new creature, don't bother with skin partitions. Follow the same as other creatures (take a look at the troll), and just use NiSkinInstance. Then set it up in the CK as just Body. Partitions are more for armor/clothing pieces that player or NPC's will wear.

I also noticed you have all your NiTriShapes under a NiNode, and not the root NiNode. That is most likely the reason it's not showing. The NiTriShapes should be under the root node.

Other notes;

- Each NiTriShapeData block says "yes" for Vertex Colours, but there is no SLSF2_Vertex_Colors flag. Decide if you're using them or not and either add the flag or turn the yes to a no.

- Still in the NiTriShapeData block, change the Consistency Flag to CT_STATIC.

Thank you.
Lazarus89 from Nexus pointed the nested node issue too. He also warned me for more than 4 bones influence over the same vertex. I applied your tips too. Everything should be fine by now. It seems to be working just fine in the game.

I'm gonna study NiSkinInstance. For now, I'll do some experiences adding extra bones. Can I have the head and the body in the same nif if I'm using skeleton and animation data from character races?

Thank you again.
