[Blender] Blender won't start correctly

I wanted to follow a tutorial regarding the making of armor. I downloaded almost everything I 

needed. Blender doesn't seem to work for me though. As soon as I start it, it crashes 

"Blender has stopped working"

 

Win7 64bits. Anyone recognizes this problem? I hope I'm in the right section though. Since 

I can't seem to find any software related sub-fora. 

 

 

Things so far:

-Tried .zip version

-Tried .exe version

-Win7 64bits version

-As far as I know; graphic drivers up to date

Don't know if it'll help, but a few people have reported your problem and downloading Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package seemed to have helped.

Also, have you installed Python and all the other required programs first? You'll need everything linked on this page.

I`m guessing that you`re using a pre 2.5 version? I use 2.49b and have had to take pains to ensure that the python/ plugin stuff all go in the right places.

Donnato: It's 2.7... So no I'm not using an older version.

Hanaisse: Thanks for your answer! I might take some time to install the other programs when I get to it. I think this might solve the problem, since

I did not see this page before (and have not installed many of the required programs)

When I installed 2.7 all I did was DL to a receiver folder I made in my storage partition, then installed to a folder I made in my programs section. I put a desktop icon and run it from there, no problems. I just did the same with 2.71.
