I started playing Oblivion the beginning of July and, due to an unfortunately light workload, am up to about 80 hours of gametime on the Vanilla. I play very, very weakly relying on conjuration and hiding. Once I discovered the chameleon gear, I've lost a lot of interest in what should be an engaging game. I thought perhaps modding would create more interest for me than the neuter NPCs, sparse landscape, lack of lower-stress quests and lack of immersion.

 

This forum seems an ideal place to share experiences in the game as well as get advice and encouragement on my play-style. I've also spent 6 days trying to figure out modding and am at the end of my emotional rope.

 

I am a California attorney irl with a strong interest in the intellectual property rights, quantifiable in monetary value, of players concerning their avatars and in-game assets. With hundreds and sometimes thousands of hours of game time and cash subscriptions for MMOs as well as stand-alone games with DLCs, players should have a cause of action against companies for banning, withdrawing use under specific circumstances. For example, it's up to companies to create "islands" for players who do not play well with others to congregate. Even more importantly, and close to home, is gaining legal foothold for an individual's right to corporate recourse and/or a civil cause of action (lawsuit) against a SPECIFIC PLAYER for harassment, bullying, defamation (libel via Skype, slander via chats), Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress and other torts. Yes, there are complex issues involved, including constitutional rights. However, the main issue is that courts need to recognize an individual's online identity, reputation and property rights in a virtual environment. I've been in the process of writing an article on the issue and finding the right case in which to voice the issue through amicus briefs. The problem is, like powerless tenants versus slumlords, the people who need legal aid most can't afford it.

When I got my first computer , a lappy, I needed something to do with it right away... a game. I found Morrowind and the train left the station. I soon discovered that there were fan sites and began to browse. Most creeped me out then, I found TESA .. Less than 2 minutes later I was a member and have supported it since.
