Is there anyway to fix corrupted pictures

All my pictured got deleted when I reinstalled Windows and instead of saving all my stuff to the windows old file, it formatted my system. I was able to recover my pictures but they are very distorted. Some of them have missing gray part while others are smudged and deformed. I haved been googling for answers for several day and have found nothing that helped. I was wondering if anyong here knew anything that might help. I hope to find someway to fix these pictures. They are several years of work.

Maybe a better utility to recover delete files? Or paying some company to do it...... (involves sending them your drive, and it most certainly ain't cheap.) I don't think you will find a 'free' utility that will be as effective as you would like.

Might give Recuva a try. From the makers of CCleaner. I've not used it personally, so I can't attest to its effectiveness.
