How to get a straight line beam.....

There has to be a better way.  Thanks to feedback here, I was able to get floors straightened out use the grid.  Not so with things like walls and especially ceiling beams in houses.  The beams are never straightened once you use right click to move, say a horizontal beam, in place.  You can never ever right-mouse click it to place.  Its always off by a tiny bit, and, of course, once you get from one end to the other...its entirely off.

I know I'm missing something because I see plenty of straight beams in other mods.  What is the tactic for getting this right?

Appreciative for guidance.

I am not sure if that is your problem, but the grid and rotation options can be tweaked in Files >Preferences>Movement.

You should set "snap to grid" to 16 so it works with more walls and floors (like solidute farm house stuff) and set "rotation speed" to 0.25 and "snap to angle" to 45.

Now click on "snap to reference" and choose "select reference in render window". Now when you have the white little thing instead of your mouse choose a basic part of your room/etc like the floor. You have to do that every time you start Ck.

I hope that helps you! Since I am not really sure if that even is your problem according to your post.

Your first paragraph nailed the solution for me.  Thanks so much!!  I'm uncertain about your 2nd paragraph.  I don't see a "snap to reference."

I always like to start with my first piece at 0,0,0, and 0 rotation angle as well. Makes snapping things to the grid MUCH easier.

Yes I do set the first piece to zeros.
