Pale Pass, the Secluded Outpost: description and images

Pale Pass,

the secluded Outpost

Pale Pass, the Secluded Outpost, is intended to add the Pale Pass as we experienced it when we played Oblivion, to Skyrim. (If you didn't play Oblivion, obviously you don't know what I'm talking about but you don't need to either. ;) )

Important:

  1. Pale Pass, the Secluded Outpost is an addition to Skyrim Original Edition; it's not compatible with Skyrim Special Editon, yet.
  2. Pale Pass, the Secluded Outpost will not be compatible with the project "Beyond Skyrim" because the team has probably already made their own Pale Pass; if they haven't yet, they most probably will.

Content:

- although the Pale Pass has been closed due to avalanches, a bored Cyrodiilic adventurer decided to set up on a trip to discover it, two hundred years after it had been located first. Unfortunately for her, and fortunately for the player, she died before attaining it. The player will find her body near the entrance of a dungeon, The Adventurer's Sorrow; this dungeon leading to a breach into the Serpent's Trail,
- the Serpent's Trail leads inside the Pale Pass world,
- there lie the ruins of Fort Pale Pass that contains five zones:

  1. Mouth of the Serpent
  2. Eyes of the Serpent
  3. Fangs of the Serpent
  4. Venom of the Serpent
  5. Scales of the Serpent

- creatures, monsters, ghosts, and so on...

Note: quests won't have quest markers or journal entries, not because I don't know how to make them but because I think getting back to old ways of playing won't harm.

Date of release:

Uhh...

Still bringing life to the Pale Pass; meet the little family. From the left to the right: Olrun, Nord hunter, Sigyn, her daughter and Kibwe, Redguard hunter and Sigyn's father.

Slight changes have occurred in the hunters' camp; the little family now lives in a large, more comfortable, protected from the wind, tent.

The Pale Pass will have an access in Skyrim, South East of Fort Neugrad, otherwise the place would be empty and the hunters wouldn't be able to access the place.

The current state of the Pale Pass world:

  • up, the ruins of Fort Pale Pass,
  • down, the hunters' camp.

Some elements are invisible because I had to zoom out in order to capture a maximum of it. ;)

First attempt at creating the lod for the world space

large.PPW14.jpg.0d6acdace6b2ae751028191d

and first problems:

large.PPW15.jpg.72b031c8c354251f253bdcd2

I haven't found any answer about these black stripes yet. I suspect that it could be due to the large distance and the fact that the world space is quite empty at the moment. Future will tell if I'm right.

Pale Pass world: distant lod problem solved. It appears that the normal maps are incorrect; filling each of them with the same green colour they are made of fixed the black stripes.

This one is for the pleasure; I never get tired of this:

Small update:

I learnt something at my expense: when you create a new world space the coordinates of the cells composing this new world space match that of Tamriel. So, if you build something in cell 0, 0 and you take a look at the map in game, you cell is right in the middle of Skyrim.

Consequently, I'm moving everything to the right cells, which means that I also have to remake the landscape, entirely... This is going to take quite a while. Oh well, that's learning. :D

Update: I cannot work on my mod for now; I need to buy a new computer. I should get one within a week; in the meantime, I'm making up lost sleep. :P
