  2. If you load up Better Bodies in the CS and go to the body part tab, you should see two entries for hands: one is just hands, and the other is hands.1st. An example is for Breton females: The regular hands that you see in third person or on an NPC are called "b_n_breton_f_hands". The first person hands are called "b_n_breton_f_hands.1st". The former points to meshes\bb\bb_skinf_br.nif, while the later points to meshes\bb\bb_handf_br.nif. To change a mesh, click on the Add Art File for that body part. If you're creating a new race, you'll need to create the race first (Character->Race->New), then create all of the different body parts for it and assign each to the new race. As for the textures, they're usually under NiNode->NiTextureingProperty->NiSourceProperty->NiSourceTexture. If you double-click on the part you're looking for a texture for, it should take you right to it.

  4. PyFFI can do some of that for you, but it's not quite a one-click process. You can optimise a nif from the context menu in Windows Explorer. It only does one file at a time, though you can highlight a whole bunch of files at once if you want. (Not too many as it opens a Window for each one.)
