If I were you I would start small, create a small mod based on a simple idea like my Skyrim Map Markers mod. When I began working my mod I had an idea of how to get rid unnecessary running through Windhelm from the city gates all away down to the docks just to take a boat to Solstheim. So, I asked how to place a map marker in the CK and the rest is history. Eventually, when I tested my mod in-game I realized that there was a lot of places that didn't had a map marker, which I think should have one so I added a few more and soon I had over 100 map markers. In 2018 I released the final version (1.9) and now I am satisfied with what I've accomplished.
