  1. Hey there all :pints:

I have a general question that could use some good answers. Another modder loved a banner I made for them and now they want me to do some tattered ones as well. I was looking at the dds/converted psd file for the tattered Kvatch banner and I looks like there is some alpha applied to it. Is it necessary to apply the alpha to it? If so could someone give me a slightly detailed walk through with their approach to making them?

This is a first attempt for me at one of these so any help at all would be immensely appreciated  aa_biggrin.gif

    Thanks guys!

@Vereta: Thanks Mate, I don't need anyone to do the work for me, just need to know how it's done. Most textures are an image you can alter, this one has  no image in GIMP, but does in NifSkope, so I'm trying to figure out how that works! @Shadow: Not sure wht that means! LOL

I want to make it happen, but the computer difference made me say nvrmnd..  aa_wall.gif

R4 these are wicked! (did I say this before)  aa_biggrin.gif From an Illustrator point of view, as I;m still newer to textures, I might suggest removing the big white stripes (battle axe and whom ever) leave that up to the magic enchantments. Just make a reallly, I mean REALLLY rich color for each tone you use. You want it to POP!  aa_biggrin.gif
My goal with these was to implement the vanilla Welkynd Stone textures, with as few changes to the welkynd parts as possible (resize, crop, and sharpen :-P), while using the patterns hidden in them, as opposed to masking them.  I did originally want to make a fourth, more vibrant color (deep purple [ah! Now "Smoke on the Water" is stuck in my head!!!"]), but I'm actually getting sick of Welkynd retexes :-P (I'm sure some time after I do some other stuff, at which point I will also add the Mace).  I highly value your opinion, and am glad you think so highly of these!@Verita   I'm glad you like these, and will be interested to see what you create ;-)

Playboy I want to make a twizted variant? of these for you... Red Mountain fire opal™ style? If not for your use, then for the peeps? Whatya say? I seez it!

Thanks R4! There's a problem though, the file is a .exe - Macs can't use those!   So now I just need to find a file converter to convert the file for my file converter...  aa_biggrin.gif
Gah!  Now I'll have to scour the web looking for a Mac-friendly DDS converter just to say "I found it".  Gimp has a DDS converter plugin, but I doubt that Gimp is for Macs (or that it would be worth your effort to download the whole gimp just for a plugin :-P).  Oy!:-DCC

I think I'm going to just wait until my PC is built. :) Thanks for your efforts though man!  :P

    @Furn-

Dearest you know you are always more than welcome to come out for a vist!  aa_tongue.gif

Weren't we waiting for the new meshes and stuff before I worked on the textures? Or is the void between my ears growing larger?  :)

BTW- I can't find the link to your 4share, please don't hit me!

There's another thread floating around somewhere? :P But in about a month or two I'm building the PC I need. In the meantime please do send that link, I don't like bugging others to help me with sending textures. i feel like "Help me... I've fallen... and I CAN't GET UP" material  aa_biggrin.gif I really want to do more than textures and that's my best alternative. Plus going back to school to learn Maya and Zbrush is gonna help the team even more and they thrive on PC. I think Darkseed is just jumping off the proverbial diving board here! Our projects really are just going to get bigger and bigger (crosses fingers)Thank you! R4C!
Here you go:DDS Converter 2.1It's really easy to use, just a few things worth noting that I don't think are mentioned in the readme:1) When you click/double-click on a file to add it, that doesn;t actually work (for some reason).  You actually have to type (or paste) the whole file location into the "Image File List" box (or use the dropdown list, which I find to be much more annoying).2) You must click the " . " button before you can hit convert, which automatically sets the output folder to the one you are currently viewingand 3) When it converts a file it will automatically close after 5 seconds unless you click restart (which can be annoying if you're converting a bunch of files)Those things may all sound annoying, but they are easy to work-with/overcome, and all-in-all it's a very simple tool.  Hope you like it ;-)(R4)CC   :-D

  7. If you're missing both arms raise your hand....

Heh herrrrhmmm,,, I actually use Photoshop and make a .tif file and add about 10-15 layers, some from illlustrator and then when I like what I see merge them all and save it out in another format.  aa_biggrin.gif  I've been working in both programs for a decade or more. If you have PS I could send you a basic mockup of one so you can see my general approach?

If you want a sample raw file I'll send you one. Mind you doing what I do WILL make the areas around your fingernails bleed and ruin 20/10 vision *disclaimer*

I'm on a Mac  so I need them in .jpg format... Photoshop can't use .nif files
Hmm... if you still don't have any kind of converter, I use a program called "DDS Converter 2" (brilliant and original, I know).  If you have any interest I can get a link next time I'm on my PC (the Wii doesn't have copy/paste functions... CURSES!).  By the way, the red arrows are awesome (the saturation is beautiful).

  11. Some of the members here tend to be a bit 'secretive' of themselves. Not even revealing their true name.I am not one of them. If you are interested in my mug, you can take a look at this postcard I made of myself with my favorite home mod:16308-1-1215739221.jpg[/quote/

That is way cool Wil! Were you actually holding the sword and shield in hand? It looks like it! :pints:
