  1. Dear Maigrets, It's so good to see you! Sit right down, right here in this big comfy overstuffed chair next to this fireplace and me.. that kitty sure likes you, look how she's already in your lap, and the hounds already snuggled at your feet. Here's a cuppa, and a pillow and blanket. It's almost story time.

  2. Personally I dont like it when a bad guy reveals his entire plan while the hero is captured, and then just as he goes to kill the hero he is stopped. That is way overused and seems cheesy to me, a realy bad guy just kills his enemy, but leaves little room for storytelling.

I know I hate that too. It's in every DUMB movie. There is a way to do it well. For example in real life we had the Zodiac Killer in the 70s, a mass murdering madman, who wrote clues and notes, because he wanted to show off his "genius". This is a common flaw that can be exploited in your story, but you have to be creative and get inside the "bad guys" head so he can live it and make it believable. This is why story telling is role play: you may start with a framework, (in fact you should so you don't get lost along the way) but then you let the developing character tell his or her story in their own voice. And while they are moving from point A to point B, if you allow them to "speak" they can surprise even their own writer with who they become.

I used to like to write soap operas as a hobby. The thing about writing a soap is you start off by writing a "Bible" this is the family's history and back story. Then you make a new character and write his story and all he does as an individual, in the context of staying true to his family. This is how big hits like "Dallas" were written, and it made great story.

No one is all good or all bad, the painting in of the light and dark gives texture and depth to the story just like it does in art.

  3. Nope, it's regular Vista(I'm pretty sure that Regular Vista isint 64bit).

And I turned my Heavy Duty security off too, made no difference apparentley...

it takes more than 5 minutes to actually turn it off. You have to use the Vista version of command prompt to get into it, and it creates a vulnerability that demands some vigilant firewalling. But the five minute route can help a lot.

Vista comes in 32bit and 64bit flavors, 32bit can only handle a bit less than four gig of RAM. You can easily check but Right-Clicking on your Computer icon (used to be "My Computer" in XP, it's either on your desktop or there's an entry for it in your Start Menu).

Right Click to get the Context Menu

Scroll to the bottom and choose Properties

    The System screen pops up

Look down the page and find the System Type which will tell you.

  4. Alright, just checking here, but DirectX should go straight into the DirectX folder in Program Files right? If not there, where?

DirectX9 should have a self installer and you should not be installing it manually.

Also I checked, and I don't have the same file you have, mine is

    C:\Windows\System32\D3DX9_41.dll

  5. I've already looked at all that, and I'm still trolling around the far edges of the internet, but I can't find anything. I did d/l everything from the nessecary linkies, and my UAC is set to off. I just don't know what to do...

Did you do a file search for that dll file on your computer. Obviously you installed in other than Program Files directory, right? and .. I'll keep thinking. (Oh, and are you using 64 bit Vista, and did you re-install DX9, I did.)

  6. Hi, i'm new here and myrmaad told me to get my butt in here! :P:D
