  1. I can't wait to see what people do with quests and AI, myself, in terms of adding new content.  Anything added is going to be just that much more amazing for having such a great foundation to build on.  Can't wait for some amazing stories to unfold!

  2. Story of her life, though!  Kaylee is also a vet, having been a mechanical engineer.  She decided not to re-enlist when the military started using her talents towards unethical projects, which may have been leaked or contracted or sold to become Vault-Tec experiments.  Kaylee traded those horrors for domestic "bliss", which was never something she'd wanted before, hoping to forget it all.  She never really opened up to Nate, because why spoil his... awe.  You get me.  <3

What transpired in the Vault triggered it all back to life, and compounded with the grief of losing her loved ones.  She's still in shock, bumbling around and helping whoever she can, but waaaayyyyyy underneath, Kaylee is very, very angry.

  3. Oh, and the screenshot-related console commands are just the same as in other Bethesda games.

Open the console with the tilde key (~), enter a command, and press ENTER for it to take effect.
TM - Toggles the UI off or on, so you can get clean shots.
TFC - Toggles "free cam" off or on, so you can move your camera any way you like without moving your character.

And of course, press Print Screen on your keyboard to take screenshots.  You can scale them down and convert them to .jpg with any image editor.  :)

  4. Bethesda game artists have really nailed down some amazing details in Fallout 4.  Just in the first bit of gameplay, I've been really struck by a few things: the lighting, the animations, and the placement of objects in scenes.  Check out this trash can brazier's lighting effects!  And have you noticed how your dog's ears move independently, and he can leap on opponents to push them to the ground just like a real dog?  No more death-by-ankle-biting!  And have you seen the insides of his ears?!

And check out this NPC, whose placement and posture definitely give off a "lonely watchman" vibe.  There is so much more sensitivity in the design of this game than I've ever seen.  It's inspiring to me both as a designer, and a player.

Have you all found anything similar?

  5. Hey, everyone!  Today is Fallout 4's release day, so let's see your first characters!  Post a screenshot, and tell us your character's personal backstory if there is one!

To be considerate to others, let's keep it to just a couple of shots per character.

    This is Kaylee!  :D

  6. Definitely sounds like a heating problem.  Gaming laptops don't have the same cooling capacity as desktop machines, so that's always a concern when running really resource-intensive games like a modded Oblivion or Skyrim.  Play in a cooler place and take cool-down breaks frequently to avoid damaging your hardware -- and consider a desktop for gaming next time, unless your lifestyle prohibits it.

The zombies are a separate problem altogether, I suspect.  ;)
  7. Alternately, it could be that one plugin or another is setting the races to use different voices that don't exist, and therefore aren't being played.  Perhaps if you have mods made with non-English versions of Oblivion?

  8. wistaria

a million stars hang like tiny blooms
    from a field a' bit-past-midnight
galactic pollen dusts the dark matter between

    splayed in the dunes
    in the wet air below
the wind and waves stroke us to sleep

    we dream, eyes open

    petals fall
