  1. So while I won't be able to complete the honors program. Which means I miss out on 1500 bucks.. I do finish in December with my Assoc in Game Creation. Which means hopefully I can get a job early in the year and make more than that in less than a month's time at best. Pays out much better i think.

Thanks, least now I can focus on building a portfolio now.

  2. The Last Wish is the first book in the series of books that were written by Andrzej Sapkowski way back. The games were created after the events of the final book, greatly as an homage to the main character Gerault of Rivia. They're not for children because like in the game the themes involves but also the small bit of ideas are more for adults. I could say it might be the modern era's Lord of the Rings in terms of how it was written.
  3. You get the game sign up to their forums, and log in through there... haven't played it much but there was no steam involved. I have the game and they've done incredible work. They put quality above quantity... their first patch redid the tutorial section because it was too hard. No real bugs were fixed. I'd also suggest reading The Last Wish so you can get a feel for the story.
  4. Nearing crunch time for group project and now there's all kinds of problems and errors from apparently dirty edits I wasn't made aware of. >.< I think from now on any group projects will be done with experienced modders.

  5. So the latest talk/joke is the new dlc in the works involves soltheim and riding dragons.. So.. Skyrim : The Never Ending Story. My thoughts? I'm making a giant black wolf in a cave in the swamp.

  6. A much needed update: What's been done: Level design is completed with a few small tweaks to allow for expansion later on. Custom models are in process of being created. Quest planning has begun. Cluttering is still underway and probably will forever be a work in progress to make the overall project complete. What needs to be done Finalizing clutter Probably optimizing/tweaking navmesh for any level design and clutter position layout Add colission and textures to models possible extra models. Quest building Implement into skyrim itself.
  7. Working on the valkyrie project, deciding on clutter is difficult.. when it's hard to decide whether to use vanilla armor or not for a reward yet.

  8. There is the duplicate method.. but that is painfully tedious to do(I've done it for the group project I'm working on) Once it's all merged... everything is smooth sailing.
  9. Hana, I found the workaround for the merging.. it's very time consuming and if you're not careful, you'll miss a ton of stuff, especially those that have special references.
  10. I'd like to join, just school makes it difficult but also my skills for skyrim are minimal. If we can get a good turnout this year I'll see if I can get something going.
  11. With the new mod that my team and I had created and merging plugins into one, we've found that the game hangups whenever we try to access the map on the level. The first level an exterior causes the crash. It'll just hang there not doing anything, not even crash to desktop. I have no other mods checked off and really playing pretty much on a vanilla game. As all of us are. Now the only problem i see is somehow we haven't created a map for the exterior cell, and in that.. I'm not sure how to create one. Anyone know how to create maps for exteriors?
  12. I'm beginning to come to the conclusion that where I am working.. is slowly destroying who I am.

Get out of there as soon as another opportunity presents itself. You want to nurture a company who will nurture you and your career in return.

      Si-Shen

With some companies "destroying" and "remaking" are the same thing. I used to work for one as well, they crush who you are to make you into a drone that LOVES them and always says yes. Get out Vou, get out fast.

I'm working on that definitely, hence why I'm working on projects building up a portfolio. Going to start getting applications out and making some phone calls see if I can get my career going early next year.

  13. ^ You nailed it perfectly, it would make for a very nice quest mod. Call it something like the Settlement.
  14. One of the small things I've heard (haven't seen the trailer yet) is necromancy will have a theme. Such as the holiday necromancers have. what I DO see is a great future for modders using this new dlc perhaps as a means for greater immersion to have players build their own homes, wherever they wish. How it's done I'm not sure but it does look promising. Post video edit: But watching the video it seems to be greatly more of just a "Build your own home how you want." type mod, which may satisfy the need and want for console owners to have that small touch of "modding"

    The Catacombs

    From the album: Vou's clutter

One of the rooms where with a small bit of scripting the player will have to face off against undead, This will be very similar to the infamous dustman's caern battle. Of course they might not be so kind as to wait their turn. Afterall, they're here to protect what lies deeper within.
  16. It's not Dark Souls... but it might as well be
  17. Thanks, The final write up will probably have much better written synopsis and perhaps snippets of the story.
  18. http://www.creationkit.com/IsCompleted_-_Quest this might help get you going. For the quest in question, you need to find the code for it.
  19. Heart of a Shieldmaiden (Title pending) The Heart of a Shieldmaiden is a mod in which while it is not huge or complex like so many other exciting mods with quests and dungeons. What it will try to attempt and excell in is creating an atmosphere and with visuals in places that are beautiful, but also weaving a story that is moving and touching at it's core. These are two very difficult things, creating atmosphere, ambiance, and just overall creating a very moving story. The story in a nutshell: A nord woman who lived during the time of the Oblivion Crisis, leaves her home in Skyrim and ventures south to Cyrodiil. Only to be swept up in the events of the the Crisis, with the Emperor dead, the world calls for the need of heroes. With the Aftermath of the Crisis over, she returns home a woman and joins the Companions. During the time she begins training in the way of the Voice, and meets her husband and long time friend whom also had joined the Companions and trained his voice. His disappearance rattles her to the core. Seeking him upon a lead she received she finds him as nothing more but a thrall to a coven of necromancers. She kills the coven with her shield sister and they return home. A woman who had gained great reknown, almost perhaps being blessed by Kyne and Shor by her skill, beauty and passion to defend Skyrim. Her children and grand children follow in her footsteps, but slowly slip away from the life of a Companion. One becomming a powerful Mage, another a bard and another following in her predecessor's footsteps during their darker times. Joining the thieves guild, and later the Dark Brotherhood before retiring to a quiet life. The resting place of the once great woman, now long and forgotten, no one truly recalls the locations, but only recall briefly a song of calling. But this sadly too was lost, even to the Bard College. Now amidst the crisis with the return of the dragons and whispers of histories long lost, are beginning to emerge. As well as rumors of descendants to the source of the stories. Where do these stories lead? Are they just good old tavern stories to entertain others during the night? Like they would tell stories in grand theatres to entertain the masses. Or perhaps the race case of.. maybe just maybe. There is something to this. Who knows the truth, and if there is such a truth... where is this final resting place? What this mod will have: Right now as it stands, it has currently seven cells fully built. As one can guess it is heavily nordic in theme, and has inspirations to many different levels already in the game. There maybe more cells added over time as the prime ones are completed. All the levels were hand built but done to mimic some places I thought looked spetacular. This being said, each will be fully cluttered and filled to look like it was professionally done but also to match the lore. A quest in which the players will follow to the end for the final reward. Things I'd like to have in it: A companion(or two) the player may have with them. Custom weapon and/or armor in which the player and their companion may wear.(most likely female armor type. modeled in true valkyrie theme) Possibly a new shout Update: Levels are all built Navmesh is 95% complete finalizing the last remaining areas of the last sections of the final level bridges are being put in place so players, npc's and others can navigate the whole last chamber thoroughly Cluttering is about 45% completed. What's left: Remaining clutter and mob placement. Quest building Other misc tasks, including the rewards, and possible new meshes, npc's and the like. Alpha and beta testing. FAQ When will it be done? When it's done, if I finish it between now and when I'm hired for a full time job or after depending on time. What can I(you) do? Wonderful Question! What I would like help on, is cluttering. People who know how to make something look nice. I placed lighting with no meshes to show the lighting. But really there is a level of creative freedom that can easily be exploited. But what I am aiming for is people who can clutter in the means to make the place look like a professional group did it. While I started the cluttering I am always open to suggestions which brings up the next thing I need. Feedback! I need feedback. Now what would I need feedback on? Aside from quest de-bugging which is the last thing I'll have done. Which I personally might do several runs through to check. However I'll want people to test it as well. Right now I want people to go through and with the lighting and the current enemy placement. I want to see if I am on the right track to setting up the atmosphere. Good lighting, enemy placement cluttering, treasures, traps and so on. Possible Modeling/Scripting/Texturing If I go the route with NEW weapons/armor to be added into skyrim I am going to need new models and textures... while I could spend hours making a brand new model. I have no idea how to make a good looking texture from scratch. So I'll definitely need help in this department. Of course if a model seems too complex to me, I'll enlist the help of a modeler who knows how to export from say 3ds max or blender(preferably 3ds as I know roughly how to use it) and get it into skyrim properly. And with a modeler I'll need a texturer.(with new models made by me or someone else, I'll need one anyway). This leaves scripting, as there'll most likely be a script needed to be written for quests I'll need to either A learn how to script or B have someone either do the scripting needed with the list of references I'll give them or C they help guide me through until I can do the scripting myself. Screen shots: http://tesalliance.o...13_140058.jpg http://tesalliance.o..._113_158332.jpg http://tesalliance.o...0_113_73351.jpg http://tesalliance.o..._113_253897.jpg Each of the shots were taken in the CK and are more for highlights of what's been done before. Again I would truly appreciate at this time cluttering help and helping fill the place up to make it look like a very well done location.

    Halls of the Dead

    From the album: Vou's clutter

The halls of the dead, resting place for the departed. Here is a small example of the general cluttering of a small niche. With some draperies to make it feel a little better and not just catacombs. While fairly small it clearly is not safe... The long dead roam the halls, The first room was safe, this is the beginning of the dangers that lay beyond The deeper one goes the more dangerous it becomes.
  21. And so, the long journey of cluttering and navmesh begins. I feel as though I'm off to middle earth, heading right for Mordor.. and just simply walk in and be all 'sup'

  22. I agree with meo there. Medals are more easily shown and is better proof of the awards one obtains. Banners is just a nice advertisement for certain people. It's more of a personal aesthetic while the medals are more earned.

    Tomb Skylight

Merci, I'm nearing the end of the rest of the waterworks. Strongly debating how I want to have them meet in front.

    Tomb Skylight

    From the album: Vou's clutter

So I decided to take a page from one of the level designer's books and say." Well I have an opening in the ceiling... And since this is hallowed ground.. sacred ground. Why not do something special. The Sky as seen in Sovngarde, but now with waterfalls pouring down in about the resting place itself. I think it came out magnificent.
