  1. The sad reality is modding for TES IV: Oblivion has died down a lot, but mods are still created till this day. The newer game engines, with their impressive game editors, offer so much more. Until Skyblivion arrives though, they don't offer the Cyrodiil in the events of the Oblivion Crisis, with all the Oblivion quests. I know of - Beyond Skyrim - too.

Wow. For Oblivion? It is good to see folks still lovin' this game.

Yeah, I still check Nexus Mods every now and then. Currently I'm trying to get Daggerblivion to merge correctly with the heightmap. I can't wait for Skyblivion too!

Scripting for Oblivion is actually pretty straightfoward. I found it MUCH easier than skyrim, or fallout 4. OBSE lends a whole new perspective on scripting, and makes it MUCH more powerful.

I have done some of the basics, but that is from following video tutorials. There isn't so many decent video tutorials for TES Construction Set (Oblivion).

I used to do a LOT of scripting for Oblivion, but, that's been more than a few years ago...... Afraid I'm not much good with it any more.

That's a shame. Ever made an NPC follower? Any information/guidance would be very appreciated.

Good Luck though. Folks here will help, and also the Oblivion CK forum over at Nexus can both be great resources. Unfortunately, we just aren't as busy here as we used to be.

Thanks. I've posted on Reddit, Nexus Forums, and on here. I even messaged a few modders too. Nothing to report back just yet.

  3. Hello forum,

I am looking for guidance and support. I'm low-skilled with TES Construction Set, but I've done some basic stuff.

I'm inspired by the mod - Companion Vilja. I hope to make my own companion mod, way less advanced though.

I thought about the following NPC dialogue menu rough example:

    • 1> Follow (armor equipped)
    • 2> Follow (armor unequipped)
    • 3> Wait here
    • 4> Stop following
    • 5> Talk topics
      • Generic
        • Oblivion Crisis
        • Cyrodiil
      • Current Location
      • Quest Talk
        • Canvas the Castle
    • 6> Give item(s)
      • Sweet roll
    • 7> Settings
      • Essential character (OFF)

One issue I face is getting my dialogue options in the correct order.

I lack scripting knowledge which is something I really need to achieve my goal, please help.

  4. Hello forum,

By far I am no expert with - TES Construction Set, but I have been playing around with it. I wish to learn more.

Is there any modders out there who I could get in touch with directly? Or watch a video stream of theirs? Perhaps receive lessons from?

    Total Conversion Mod
My dream someday would be to create my very own total conversion mod, entirely separate from the Elder Scrolls lore and Tamriel. The world space would be of an island nation (hopefully of a decent enough size), with weather patterns somewhat resembling real-life England and Scotland. The northern lands would be colder and more hilly, whilst the southern lands would be warmer and more flat. I would like to aim towards a minimum of 3 main cities, followed by towns, settlements and villages. I plan to use TES IV: Oblivion assets, a gutted out ESM file.

If others were interested in my project, I would love to establish a team of volunteers too. Together we could all contribute towards the project in many ways such as skills, ideas, level design, etc. There are many individuals who actually love working on TES Construction Set, who may like to work on another project.

    Agraria01.png

  5. Hello all,

I am experimenting. I have created a brand new worldspace with a fixed size of 4000x4000.

In game, your map displays the worldspace that you are in. How do I create a map for my unique worldspace?

I need to make an in game map to calculate where abouts I am within the worldspace and if the worldspace is of a good enough size or needs to be smaller/bigger.

  6. Looks fantastic! I'm not skilled enough with the TES Construction Set sadly. However, I am seeking to learn and improve my skills. I can also help in other ways like bug testing, documentation, etc.

Personally, I have been trying to construct a village for Cyrodiil. I'm struggling to find a suitable map location to start construction. I am also struggling with the layout.

  7. Goal:

Make an Oblivion Total Conversion Mod.

    Need:

An empty ESP file with Oblivion Data (architecture, etc).

    What this means:

All of Oblivion's NPCs, Quests, Interiors, Worldspaces, etc, will be gutted from the entire game. All what will be left is the fundamentals, such as the architecture assets and other assets. This will include animations too - like greeting animation, prevent NPC doing silly things whilst the player engages in dialogue.

    Then:

Once the ESP file is finished, it can be converted to an Oblivion.ESM file and launched in the game as a Total Conversion Mod (like Nehrim).

    Morrowind/Skyrim:

I've noticed both Morrowind and Skyrim have received more love when it comes to available empty ESP files with data.

    What I found:

So I found on NexusMods - Blank Esp With Data - but unfortunately a particular animation was missing. When the player engaged in conversation dialogue in an NPC, the NPC would be stuck in a drinking potion animation loop, which only ended once the player exited out of the dialogue window. It was a very silly bug indeed. I wanted the normal greeting dialogue animation, where the player would pretty much stand still and listen.

I reached out to the mod's authour but unfortunately they live a very busy life and cannot fully remember exactly the process that they went through to make the ESP file with data.

    The bug [VIDEO]:

    Community Help:

If anyone can create me an working empty ESP file with data, or guide me through the process, I will be very grateful. Then I can get to work on the Construction Set. :)

Since my mod goals are of my own universe lore and world, it is not compatible with TES IV: Oblivion's universal lore and world. That is why I want to make a Total Conversion mod.

  8. I know it's possible with tweaking, but I am unsure how to do it.

I have my mods all installed and working. I have Morroblivion.

Whenever I create a brand new game, I start in Morrowind - nice if I want to play the Morroblivion mod, but I want to start in the Imperial Sewers.

If no solution, alternative would be to download a Imperial Sewers save file.

I was a big fan of FCOM. But, installing it can be a real bear. There used to be a couple good guides out there, no idea if they still exist. I didn't care for the vanilla 'level scaling' experience, and FCOM dealt with that. The further you get from cities/roads, the tougher the enemies. There are still some close in... the vampires on the Imperial City island for instance.... but, by and large, it is a completely different experience from vanilla. Leveling up actually begins to make sense.

Also, (shameless plug) Advanced Magecraft for those that like to use magic, dramatically expands its utility. Its on Nexus. Check it out. :)

FCOM sounds a really interesting mod, never used before. I never really use magic, just swords/shields. Is this the mod, FCOM Convergence? https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/12249

I like the idea of having enemies at various levels and the closer to towns/cities, the easier the creatures. Maybe good for leveling too, try go for enemies more challenging.

  11. I've installed my mods using the Wrye Bash utility and I used Oblivion Mod Manager (OMM) for the Oblivion XP leveling mod, which has been somewhat problematic for me in the past.

Firstly, I went to install the Unofficial Patches to fix issues with the games and DLCs. From there, I setup OBSE and manually placed OBSE plugins into the plugins directory.

Once I had completed that, I went to install Qarls Textures, Immersive Interiors, Weather All Natural and Unique Landscapes.

I went onto DarNified UI and other UI and interface setups. Small mods, like Enemies keep weapons in inventory, I left until last.

Now I have a fully working TES IV: Oblivion game with some decent mods. I have not really done any Oblivion.ini edits though as I could not find a clear enough guide online.

I am by far no expert with modding, but this is what has worked for me.

    ! Suggestions !

I never know what texture mods would be good to combine together, so I usually just get Qarls Textures and leave it there. Never really downloaded many different texture mods before. I am always looking at ways to improve TES IV: Oblivion look, feel, graphics, but understand it's a old dated game.

I love to see vanilla cities and settlements expanded but I am a little funny with it. I much prefer following the vanilla style than mods which add in a ton of new unique assets. I would rather expand existing settlements and cities using vanilla assets and make an exception if something was really important, like a new shop sign. TES V: Skyrim we saw Beyond Bruma which rebuilt the city of Bruma and how that city was expanded looked fantastic.

I am looking for suggestions... new mods... big or small... new OBSE plugins... new tweaks... please comment below. :)

  12. Firstly, I would just like to note I am using the downloaded file - Blank Esp With Data - from NexusMods. So this ESP does not have an Oblivion.esm master.

The file has been stripped and the bare minimum has been left. Stripped of Quests, WorldSpaces, Interiors (except dummy cell), etc.

I created an NPC. Created a new Quest. Created NPC voiced dialogue which works and displays (subtitles) in game.

    Only issue:
During dialogue whenever I speak to the NPC, he is stuck in a constantly drinking loop. Same with all NPCs. They seem really thirsty. They will not stop drinking in loop until dialogue closed.

    How do I fix this?

Another example in game where it happens. In a city. The skooma addicts. If you engage in dialogue with them, they will have a drinking loop of drinking skooma bottles. It looks so so silly. It is like a bug/glitch. Obviously it is fine for those skooma addicts. But for all my NPCs it is ridiculous.

  13. Hello users,

So I recently downloaded - Blank Esp With Data - from NexusMods. It was the only blank/empty ESP with TES IV: Oblivion data I could find.

I ran into some issues with this particular file.

    • Dialogue bug: I created a NPC with voiced dialogue. During dialogue, the NPC was stuck in a continuous drinking mug animation loop. The NPC would not stop drinking. I am not sure if this is a problem with this ESP file or if it is a common problem. I do not want NPCs continuously drinking during dialogue, I want them to behave normally.
    • No Argonian race. The entire race seemed missing.
    • Missing assets. Doors such as farm doors did not exist. Only one door type - TestDoor. (I think users are meant to implement their own doors into the file, even if they reimplement farm door)

I tried to make my own blank ESP file with data - tedious and long process. I converted Oblivion.esm to Oblivion.esp. I would delete a load of content, try save, it would be stuck so I would leave for a very long time and nothing. I tried to gut the file, removing NPCs and Quests.

Now... I ask. Does anyone know where I can find any other Blank ESP files?

Does anyone know a reliable process of creating my own without issues?

Or could someone build me a blank ESP file with data?

Or does anyone know a possible fix for my dialogue issue/bug?

    Kind regards,
    Bradley (new user)
