  1. This is an awesome idea and something that should have come with the game out of the box.

Clearly you've already put a lot of thought into this and I don't have much to add other than that I would like to see more powerful goods available for purchase at all levels, for example an ebony sword that absorbs 30 points of health, stamina, and magicka that I actually have to save up for.

Something I've liked about other RPGs I've played, specifically Dungeon Siege and even Fate is that it's always worth checking out the merchants to see what they are selling because there's a chance they might have something actually useful for your character at even at high levels. In Skyrim my character is almost level 81 and there's no reason for me to check to see what the merchants are selling because I know it won't be anything better than what I already have (except radiant raiment in solitude as they do carry powerful bling)

so best of luck with this, here's to the CK coming soon :pints:

  2. Great characters everyone! I especially like Dollparts' and Carah's characters. Great job on the faces.

    Stats

    Class - Dark Paladin

Level - 80 (one more level to go!!!)

Relevant Perks trees - one handed, heavy armor, restoration, sneak, archery, smithing

Max damage - 3000+ sneak attack, 500+ dual wield (more with potions)

armor rating - normally around 500 because she doesn't like any helmets and prefers ebony, but with a full suit of legendary daedric armor it's over 1000

    casting guardian circle

    Equipment

Ebony Mail, ebony Gauntlets of eminent wielding, ebony boots of muffling, various amulets and rings for different situations

dual legendary daedric swords enchanted with absorb health and stamina, and a daedric dagger for sneak attacks, nightingale bow and ebony arrows

    Backstory

Miku (named in honor of everyone's favorite blue haired vocaloid) started off as a righteous paladin, saving the world and honoring the warrior's code. However, she became bored and decided to pursue other avenues of adventure through the thieves guild and the dark brotherhood. Enthralled by power she climbed to the top of these organizations and was bestowed all their dark powers as well.

  3. Yes, I do have the shadow warrior perk, although the glitchy eye bug was present prior when I got that perk. I have also suspected it might be shout related since the glitch seems to happen only after I've been shouting a lot. I will have to test this more thoroughly.

And yeah I've finished both the stormcloak rebellion quest and the dark brotherhood, so that could be why I can't get that quest. But I haven't killed anyone important (I'm pretty sure >.> )

  4. BUG #1

    gallery_205_82_202018.jpg

As you can see above, Miku has a problem. After playing for a while (or not long at all sometimes) her eyes will glitch out and remain that way until I reboot the game but reloading the save will not. I did use showracemenu once to change a few things (before I read about possible side effects >.< ) I'm guessing that might be the issue, but I haven't read anything about the console command specifically affecting the eyes like this. This is by far the worst glitch. The only mods I have active are a crafting mod, Skyrim Script extender, and SkyUI

    BUG #2

I cannot start the quest Blood on the Ice in Windhelm with this character. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Windhelm#Related_Quests

I've tried walking in through the city gates four times during the night, etc... even using the console command "setstage MS11 10" but with no results.

    BUG #3

I cannot receive the lover's comfort bonus. I used to be a werewolf but cured myself so I could get the resting bonuses again (for power leveling purposes) but the best I can get is "Well Rested" I'm meeting all the other requirements like not having the Lover's Stone active, and sleeping in the same house as my spouse etc... I've tried different houses and nothing.

Any help with the above issues would be immensely appreciated, thanks!

  5. Unique bling would be nice.

I could see many of these being sold by the khajiit merchants or maybe found with one of those "lost morrowind caravans" that are scattered throughout skyrim. They could also be found on Dunmer refugees and such. Thoughts?

How about the Bittercup? Perhaps we could hide it in Clavicus Vile's shrine someplace.

besides the ones already mentioned, I'd love to see Goldbrand make a return because of its dragon related lore. Maybe it could fortify your shout regeneration.

Boots of the Apostle would be sweeeet.

  6. @DaMage: you really need to just let things happen naturally... instead of bluntly asking for a date, just tell her your going to get coffee and see if she wants to go too. Really talk the coffee house up before hand. If she refuses (and she shouldn't if you've played your game right up until now), make her regret it later by mentioning all the good conversations you had and how good the coffee was... most girls love to be teased. Don't be the nice guy, be the fun guy who has a lot of options and doesn't care if she goes with you or not. Of course she really needs to have some sort of attraction for you already for any of that to work. I'd recommend reading "The Game" by style aka neil strauss, a story about how an average frustrated chump who turned himself into one of the world's best pick up artists. It's certainty helped me.

  7. After I posted that teaser, I've been getting all kinds of random friend requests on youtube. Do I know any of those folks? O.o PM me if you sent a friend request, I don't usually friend peeps I don't know.

  8. Honestly... I kinda wish I knew nothing about Skyrim :smug: That way it would all be a grand surprise when I first play it. Mystery is a valuable tool also... its almost an art walking the line between not enough info and spoiling it too much. At least I have the ability to limit what information I relinquish with my own mods.

  9. haha, that's indeed a great question Chord, and I can't give a good answer. Really, things seems to fall into place when they need to... I don't try to push things too hard. If I don't feel like working on it, I usually don't. This is true for my real life projects as well and boy are there a lot (school, learning japanese, writing screenplays, omg) ! Maybe it would benefit me to be more disciplined. :/

Edit: There was another thread almost just like this around here in one of the other forums. I had it bookmarked at one time because it had a lot of good info, but I lost all my bookmarks in the laptop move. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and can find it, please post a link!

Edit 2: I found the thread (I think):

An excerpt from the Architects Journal:

    19, Sun’s Height

The tower exudes an almost palpable presence as it looms over us. The air is charged with speculation and each of us seems to have projected our own hopes and desires upon this unexplained monument. We grow increasingly restless as we sail nearer and nearer in the Cloud Chaser. We play games and tinker with our hobby projects to pass the time but I know that no one can keep their minds off the tower. We’ve named the tower the Spire, the Dark Spire.

    What is The Dark Spire?

The Dark Spire is an epic quest mod that will pull the player into a steampunk movie-like adventure full of fascinating locations and striking characters. Journey to an alien plane first explored by the ancient Dwemer and experience the obsession that drove them mad. Pick up their tools where they dropped them and continue their story. Your success or failure decides the fate of no less than all creation.

Conceptually, The Dark Spire is a gourmet concoction of the Myst games, The Dark Tower books by Stephen King, and Diamond Dogs by Alastair Reynolds, infused with a healthy flavor of steampunk culture and anime influences, and then blended seamlessly into the Elder Scrolls universe.

    Concept Art

Through numerous internet searches I have procured a rather large collection of concept art. I've included an assortment of pictures from a wide range of sources. This collection is not meant to be definitive of the mod, but rather provide a general idea of what I have envisioned. Note the spoiler boxes. They are there for your convenience only, there are no real spoilers here.

    Progress so Far

This project is still in the planning stages, but in that respect, much progress has been made indeed. I have written all of the journal entries, written the in-game books, and planned out the majority of locations.

    Assets

Here is a Dwemer steampunk sword that ResolveThatChord started for me. Many thanks!

  11. I will reinforce what Vouivre said about planning. It is absolutely vital to have a blueprint for your mod before you start the actual work. I have a folder dedicated to concept art that is packed with 200 images procured through numerous internet searches. I have all of my journal entries written out and the books as well. I have my worldspace mapped out to the vertex.

Depending on the nature of your mod, I think figuring out the story to the letter before starting is the most important thing you could do.

With bigger mods, unless you are some kind of modding god (like some people round here) you'll need a modding team. I would highly recommend that you have something tangible and inspiring to show people before trying to recruit... world space or videos are good... just to show that you are committed to the project and willing to do your own work. Try to learn as much about the different aspects of modding as possible - modeling, texturing, world building, voice acting... it's important that you can excel at at least one aspect of the technical aspect of modding in order to be a valuable asset to the team.

Once you have a team, by god cling to them like precious stones! Be the visionary and inspirational leader they need to stick with the project. Communication is absolutely key. As the lead, you need be available to coordinate people and send them off in the right directions. Keep track of the mod's progress where everybody can see it. Post screenshots and videos of new developed areas or items.

  12. Well, I bet you can guess what I'm gonna do :P Yup, the Dark Spire will finally be realized! mwahaha!

But that aside, Skyrim looks great so far... it looks like it'll hold up pretty well on it's own even without mods. I'll probably play through once without them, unless there is something really annoying.
