I can confirm you can emulate "Cos" maths functions in oblivion without obse, I have used them in a modified script borrowed from the CS wiki I dont have long atm but if you serch around for a script that gets the player's direction, there is the correct way to emulate Cos in that script Sounds really interesting, I was going to make this for my own mod but couldn't figure out how... good luck!
  2. I think I'd need a special permit to post a script so long and badly optimized, it may cause spontaneous combustion of skilful modders and people who actually intended to read the rest of the forum
  3. Blah, yet another problem!!! I think I'm scripting too much... I have a spell script that is now around 300 lines long... anybody know if theres a point where scripts just break? Because now after a few uses the spell stops working entirely on all saves until I shut down and reload... EDIT: Problem resloved by causing a second spell to be cast, continuing the script, but I would still be interested to know! Edity edit: It WASN'T script length! Silly me, it was a syntax error undetected by the scriptchecker that caused the script to fail (Im guessing). Fixed now, a very silly mistake Mysterious Mr. Bear :D
  4. hey guys, thanks for replying, Yeah I forgot to mention, I tried copying it piece by peice from the uinivercity mages... and it didn't work with any count :S I guess I'll try removing all NPCs from the room, and trying it with count 100 (Thanks Andaley, thats pretty weird... should have figured it wasn't what it said it was, this IS the cs we're talking about ) but with a clean save.... One of those weird things I guess! UmtheMuse, what about relaying it through a weapon? I.E, you poison a dummy weapon given to you, then when you activate the stave it adds the poison from the weapon to the stave. This requires some functions that I don't know if they exist or not (like getting the poison in a Array and then adding the poison via another function) and furthermore, the only way I can see you adding AOE damage is through casting a range spell with an activator from above (though I dont know if you have another way) and it sounds hard to convert poison effects to AOE spells.... maybe instead, use enchantments? It sounds like a really awsome idea Im sure you could pull off your Plan B idea no sweat, but it would indeed be awsome to let the player choose the enchantments Good luck!
  5. Hmmmaar.... this is probably one of those "your forgetting THIS, silly" moments, but I am pretty stuck on this. I've created a few training packages for an NPC including melee, hand to hand and magic all against a target. I've made them all useitemat packages with a directional xmarker facing a target, all with an item in their possesion (or there lack of for handtohand) and mostly its fine. They find the xmarker and stand in the right place at the right time, but in the magic package, he just stands there. I've told him to cast a particular spell in his inventory and to cast general target spells. I've set the count to 0, 1, and 100. Made the location the target dummy and the xmarker. But still he just stands there. What am I doing wrong? The location is a room with one other NPC in but this hasn't disrupted other packages. Any help would be great guys!   7. Thanks ever so much with the first one man! That sounds perfect. I always miss these things :S As for the second, sadly yes. Im guessing its a glitch with the creature, the save game, or the way Im testing it, so after a few friends round tommorow (we're getting three screens next to eachother for the three of us having an oblivion all nighter!) Im going to completly start from scratch in a differnt way with this problem. Thanks again for those commands! If anyone has had my other problem before themselves, It would be great to pick your brains. Mysterious Mr. Bear :D
  8. Ok, so for part of the mod I'm working on I'd love to add a summonable creature that knows all of the players spells to help him out. Problem? I have absolutly no idea how to transfer the spells from the player to the creature (will-o-the-wisp) or if its even possible! Any thoughts/ suggestions? Or am I (yet again) missing something blatently obvious on the CSWiki/tutorial section? If not I guess I'll level the creatures spells to the players level... but thats less awsome by severel degrees on the awsomeometer. :S Thanks! Mysterious Mr. Bear :D EDIT: Its problem day in Bearsville :S Im scripting a creature and it seems like if I make it too complicated the script just doesn't run! for example Begin ondeath disable end ^ runs fine! however: Begin gamemode if isincombat player stopcombat endif end begin ondeath disable end ^thid doesnt stop combat or disable on death!! whats going on there? I've tried numerous scripts and its just not working!

      mahahahahaha!!! actually laughed out loud at Joben and Meo's comments :P Yeah, I reckon if the nexus had been here when morrowind came out we would have had a mod that replaced silt strider's legs with beyonce's within minutes...

After making the local sushi bar our second home, me and the girlfriend decided to give making it a try... and its actually really easy and fun! Ended up with LOAADSS more than we thought we did... must of cost a little more than a fiver, and its normally £1.70 for four little segments in a sushi bar!
  13. They are some pretty cool ideas, especially smoke cloud! gonna think how I can impliment it... I'm starting work on the stealth powers soon. I allready have alot of my effects planned and you can find them all on my website, but I think I'll fit the smokecloud idea in, if I can The Dim Lights power is allready kind of planned, but slightly differntly...I think dark blades is a bit too "unnatural" for the nature of the mod, but If I remember correctly there is something similar in Midas Magic
  14. Quick update with some videos! video: Elemental Magic- - Teleport and the Delamerian Isles! another power on display - Teleport! This power will give you 5 differnt abilitys with one spell. Amaze your freinds with Short range teleporting! Impress the girls with Assasins Rush! Show off with Telekentic swap! Be the man your man could smell like with Long Range Teleporting! This set of skills proves verisitle in and out of combat. From tricking enemies into being hit by their own spells or falling down cliffs, to breaking into homes, to making quick escapes from dungeons; you're bound to make use of this as mage, warrior or theif (or tourist). Also can be used for magical bunjee jumping off dive rock. In all in all about 2-3 days work on that one. Could have been done in a day if I wasn't so easily distracted. By, for example... a new worldspace and quest that ties in with the new powers! But dont worry, it wont drag out the release date- Im still set to release the spell pack seperatly way before you all pack your bags and head off for skyrim. Then I'll be working on the quest full time, again to be released before skyrim... and then relax and party with dragons! The quest won't be anything epic, but a good hour or so with small, repeatable side quests and the possiblity to make one of two homes in Delemere. Not to mention some more retextures, remodels, and some tasty modders resources before they are made obselete! "When you signed up to serve as an agent for the Order of the Bear, you expected a holiday and training in their obscure but powerful practice of "Elemental magic". Instead you find yourself shipwrecked, with you're one companion missing, on a small island at war with itself. The Delamerian Guardians insist true power can only be found from living amongst nature; the settlers belive their power is only good if they use it and have begun to tame the island. Whichever side you choose, there is a darker force growing, hidden in the shadows and lurking in the corner of your eye... and when it decides to make itself known, there will be nowhere to run." Also I forgot to post this up from a while ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpRMwkM3pp0&feature=related Weather Manipulation spell in use!! Since this video the spell has been upated to get rid off the pretty sucky "boost" effects. Instead you have more unique powers, that are alternative versions of the left mouse button effect. Storm/rain: directional lightning that will blast your victims away from you, but not always hit like the lmb attack. Snow: paralyse and do cold damage to your opponent but for far less time than the slowing effect. Sun: Light your opponant on fire with heat from the sun, and leave their skin senstitive to normal weapons. Things I'm planning/ need to do: Iron out Windbending - a few animation problems Iron out and finish weather manipulation: add 3 new powers: Snow storm, Electrical storm, and Fire storm (similar to skyrim) + check for animation problems Iron out Teleport spell- some sound effects missing, no fatigue drain on some effects. Fix Elemental Powers- drain is too fast (know what Im going to do though, it involves activators, timers, scripting, feathers and some double sided tape) Balance all spells Add new power repeat all previous steps for new power repeat pervious two steps about 24 times hopefully the spell pack will be out soon... maybe 2 month deadline? who knows...   16. ok, so after playing Midas Magic I just presumed there was some simple getinexterior function to stop spell use from within a cell. And there IS that function... but it needs a specific worldspace. This means to use it on the many outside-only effects Im adding I'd need to add checks for Tamriel, Shivering Isles, and the worldspace added by my mod... AND need compatability patches for popular mods. Shurly theres shum shimple way of going about this? Something that look if your IN a cell maybe... I tried "getinexterior Interiors != 1" but it didn't recognise Interiors as a worldspace.... If anyone knows this it would be great, scouted the CS but found nothing.... if not, I guess I'll manage Mysterious Mr. Bear :D

  19. Is a GENIOUS. well sort of. I was stupid enough to accidently duplicate something I copy and paste alot, meaning loads of lag.. but then found that by dragging two light sources around, it reveals duplicates (they are darker than normal)

      basicly I ended up with two copies of lots in exaclty the same place, so it looked the same but had huge lag. By shining two light sources onto them at once they turn darker, so I was able to find them and delete the second copies :D

  21. a dungeon nessery to travel... sounds interesting! Kind of reminds me of the fable way of RPGing, where the world is unlocked but first you have to do a scary quest.... or the subways on Fallout Will it be the only way into the deadlands?
