  1. Hail Allies!
it’s that time of year!! TESA’s yearly server fees are due on 5/22 and it’s been a hard year for everyone, she’s going to need some help to keep the lights on. We still need to raise another $260 by that deadline or the site may go dark :loveTESA:

If you can chip in please use the donation bar on the forum index page. Or consider upgrading your account to a paid membership, PM me if you’d like to purchase a membership and I can help you with that!! Hope you’re all busy modding, getting those vaccines, staying safe and healthy out there. :wizard:

    Cheers! :toast:

  2. Couple things to try, first make sure your dialogue quest priority is set fairly high. i set mine around 80. Second, the generic dialogue is all conditioned by race, so the solution that worked well for my stubborn NPCs was to duplicate the Breton race, making a custom Breton race and assign that to my NPCs. Then they don't qualify to use any generic race based dialogue but they look the same, have the same features as the default bretons.

  3. This tutorial can walk you step by step through creating a static object out of a moveable one (in this example she uses a plate but the steps should be the same for a book) she outlines how to set the file path for the model, you’ll want to copy the file path of the original book and paste it into the model box for your static book.

To get rid of the PS4 error you need to delete the meshes and textures folders you created. You also need to edit the file path or delete any items you created incorrectly that use those folders you created.

Purple textures indicate an incorrect or missing file path to the textures. I’m not sure what process you used to create them, so can’t help without more info on what you did. :)

  4. Ok so let’s say you want to create a plate that’s very valuable.
Double click on the plate’s ID to open the dialogue box with all the plate’s stats. Give the plate a new ID like aaMyValuablePlate and click OK. The CK will ask if you want to create a new form. Say YES.

Now you can find your new ID in the list, double click to open. You can now change the value of the plate.

Because you copied the original, your new plate will already be pointed at the asset in the BSA so you don’t need to change it at all.

  5. Sounds like you’re on the right track. To keep generic NPCs from using your custom lines you can add a condition check (I believe it’s GetIsID) to every line and making it check for your NPC’s ID to use the line.

As long as you give your NPC dialogue for every situation (ie Greetings, Goodbyes, Etc) he/she should prioritize your custom dialogue then and not use the generic :good:

  6. If you’re using vanilla assets you don’t need to extract them and include them in the project. Just point your new asset to the existing bsa location for the nif. You would only need to unpack the model and texture if you were changing the actual assets. If you’re just renaming the plate or changing some stat, adding a script, you wouldn’t need to unpack the assets at all.

Since Skyrim uses bsa archives its normal for it to not create texture/mesh folders on install

  7. Hail Cookie Monsters! :cookie:

If you live in the US and need a cookie fix the Girl Scouts are doing ALL digital sales to stay Covid safe this year. If you need some tasty sweet treats shipped right to your door, my kiddo can hook you up here:

    https://digitalcookie.girlscouts.org/scout/kylen283044

You can also donate boxes which go to our heroes out there needing some cookie themed appreciation! :super:

All sale proceeds go to our troop activities for the year so the more they sell the more the girls can learn and grow this year!

Been around 6 years, so kind of a necro I guess, but where are the actual classes / courses? And if there aren't any, does anyone know of some alternatives that explain 3D (making / editing meshes, textures and such) specifically for Skyrim, for newbies?

You can find some tutorials specific to 3D assets in Skyrim here: http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/tutorials/category/40-3d-craftworks/

Also, any tutorials you find for Oblivion can be useful as well since some of the basic concepts are the same between the two games

I have installed RCT and had the messenger, but when I get to Cloud Ruler Temple there is no book/letter from Martim. I’ve seen other people have the same issue, but I’ve seen no answer.

I’ve played around with load order to see if that helps but no luck. Any help appreciated.

When you get to Cloud Ruler did you speak with Captain Steffan? He should greet you at the gate when you arrive.

  10. Well done ogre especially on the steps area which can be tricky for beginners! I see one spot where it looks like you squeezed some pathing between a chair and table, that’s not needed. You really only want to path where NPCs can comfortably walk/stand. The chair has animations attached that will guide the npc to sit without extra parking in front of the chair.

You're ready to carry on! :good:

  11. Welcome to the course! Looks like you’re off to a great start! You’re ready to head to Lesson #2

Please resist the urge to add things as other students may use your screenshots to help them along and if it deviates from the lessons it can be confusing. You can always add on later! Well done overall :good:
