  1. Yeah, apparently some of them can freeze and will thaw out and survive! Not sure of all the details, but I think they were being used for study... But you'd have to create a cold weather frog I guess you could have it that he's hibernating... What kind of frog is Spot?
  2. Alright better get your research going - you need to find one that can withstand cold!! A crystal frog! There you go
  3. Yup, been using the one for Kvatch Rebuilt since Thomas stuck it in a thread somewhere Works great and gets rid of the graphical anomolies. Loving it!
  4. Somewhere in Cyrodiil! That would be cruel beyond all limits: I've placed a small frog somewhere in Cyrodiil and you have to find him Mind you, if you placed a bunch of clues all over the place... There you go Jheuloh - you can make an Oblivion mod out of this!
  5. Why don't you try actually installing Oblivion and the CS rather than just copying them? If you're pretty sure you have the registry configured correctly (and I know I wouldn't try doing this manually), then I would delete the Oblivion and CS ini files. I think both of those have some configuration settings specific to the machine, and if you just copied them from your other machine, they won't work on the netbook. If you don't have a DVD drive on your netbook, you might be able to copy the contents of the DVD, transfer the files, and install from that. I've done that when I had a damaged DVD with some games. Basically I have several computers and often I have another machine that will read the damaged disk, so I can copy the contents to the network and run it from the network when installing on the machine that can't read the disk.
  6. Your "else if" needs to be "elseif".
  7. If you wind up having to reinstall Oblivion because it got installed in Program Files under Windows 7, as Hanaisse mentioned, make sure you back up your saved games first. I went through a similar process recently. I went from XP to Win 7 and I was able to continue my Oblivion game from where I left off under XP, so it is possible When you install Oblivion, you also have to reinstall all your mods exactly the way they were previously. Once you do that, you should be able to load up your previous saved games. Now as mentioned, the path to your saved games will be different if you switched operating systems. But once you restore all the paths, you should be able to load them.
  8. Different options for the log entries. You could customize a log entry to match some details for a specific race, for example. You don't see them too often with vanilla quests, but I've seen them used in mods. Basically you could set it up that a log entry will vary according to a specific set of conditions. You could make quests quite complex this way because you can have different result scripts too. So you could have multiple branches all in one quest stage. I'd suggest creating a road map if you going to start doing that
  9. The conditions at the quest level are handy because they apply to all dialog topics, so if you have a condition or two that should apply to all dialog topics, it saves a lot of work. Beth usually uses them to designate that the player is not in Shivering Isles. Often, there's a "isPlayableRace" check too. You often need to remove that one when you are doing custom races, depending on how they've been set up.
  10. I moved the marker slightly - moving it up a bit so it was on more level ground. Seems to be working better now. There are some rocks near the marker, so perhaps the game was adjusting my position so I wouldn't get stuck in the rocks... Don't know...
  11. Yeah and I looked at yours and can't figure out why they are different than mine I've used yours and they work fine! Did you reposition or add nodes to the path grids for your markers?
  12. And I wonder what they are going to be called in the Skyrim creation kit... Oblivion has path grids, but I thought those were for NPC's only. Now as it happens, there is a grid point right next to my map marker, so if fast travelling used those, I would expect to wind up very close to my map marker. There's also another grid point in the water where my PC and horse seem to be landing, but I don't know why that one would be selected over the one nearest the map marker.
  13. I didn't realize that placing map markers was rocket science! I grabbed a map marker object and dragged it to the render window. Here are the marker details. And this is a screenshot of it in the CS. The yellow X is where I wind up when I fast travel. Now I didn't give it a reference ID, but I didn't think I had to. I'm not referencing it in scripts. I also didn't make it a heading marker, because I don't need that either, or at least I didn't think I did...
  14. How does the game determine where the PC (and horse if PC mounted) shows up when fast travelling to a map marker? I have several custom map markers and when I fast travel to those locations, I don't seem to wind up anywhere near the map marker. In one instance the map marker is a fair distance from the shoreline, but when I fast travel there, my horse's back feet are in the water. The map markers are for new locations that we've added to the game.
  15. My builds are never cheaper than prebuilt, but builds are so much fun. I actually lapped my cpu and heat sink when I did my last two builds (my machine and my husband's). It did help actually. Will probably switch to water cooling soon though. So yeah, if you want help with a custom build, post here and we can pitch in.
  16. Which is why I was only suggesting it if your laptop was out of warranty. But your point is well taken - if you aren't comfortable with building pc's, I would only recommend replacing the video card in a laptop in those cases where it is readily accessible, which it is on a number of models. If the laptop has an actual video card, then have a look at your user's guide and see if it has instructions for replacing the video card. Quite often in these cases, there will be a small panel that you can easily remove to access the video card.
  17. Not quite true - you can pop in your own video card. I helped a guy do that fairly recently with a Dell. You can buy mobile video cards from lots of resellers and then you just crack open the case and install it yourself. Now the one thing Dell has over several other mfrs is that they actually publish a technical service manual that the public can download - so video card replacement is not a big deal. I can do the same thing with my MacBook Pro. Basically you have two scenarios: your laptop has an upgradeable video card or your laptop is already out of warranty so popping the case won't hurt. If your laptop has an upgradeable video card, then you'll probably find that it is readily accessible, so popping in a new card isn't a big deal. If your laptop is out of warranty, then opening the back to access the internals to replace the video card is not that difficult. This is all moot point, however, because the OP does not have a separate video card. I doubt the on-board video chip is upgradeable and even if it was, I don't think it would help him much - it would still be on-board. I don't know of any instances where on-board video can be replaced with a card - I really doubt the mfr would offer that. But if his user manual has options for upgrading the video, then I suggest he explore them.
  18. Well if the laptop had a separate video card, it might be possible to upgrade. However this one doesn't, so it's doubtful the OP can do anything.
  19. Probably not. You'd have to look at the user's manual and see if there are any options for upgrading the video. When shopping for a laptop, make sure it lists the make and model of the video card. The machine you have says "Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family" for video. Chipset family means that it's integrated video, not a separate card. Go to Nvidia.com or amd.com (for ATI) and have a look at their mobile video cards - they will list the model numbers and you'll have an idea of what to look for. For example, you'll see something like Nvidia GeForce 310M - that's a separate video card.
  20. Oh, well we forgot to mention that it's also dependent on the celestial alignment...
  21. I think that lines up with what we found too. Amadaun likes to have all her meshes and textures outside of data too and she probably ran into issues when the two got mixed. Good to know - thanks for the update.
  22. I'm running 5.1 with no problems. Now I'm running Win 7 64 and my speaker configuration is actually listed as "High definition audio device". I also have S/PDIF set up, but that's not being used. Not sure if that helps...
  23. As I said, she didn't tell me. I peeked at her profile. And it was under the old settings, so maybe it was set by mistake - now you have me wondering! Maybe you should drop her a line and see what she says I will say though that the majority of our team are women. We've only allowed a couple of very privileged males to join Hel Borne isn't part of our team, we just asked if we could use the armour.
