  1. Sorry me again. I've just finished part 1, started the game, but when I type "coc title of my plug-in" nothing happens. It is activated in the Data files I can see it there on the list, checked all the spelling and tried typing it in different ways eg. with spacing and without still nothing.

  2. When you select your mod (and the Skyrim.esp) make sure you set your mod to the 'Active File' by clicking on the 'Set as Active File' button. You should then see the 'Active File' Status for your mod.

As for the Masterfile warnings, yes that is common, as in everyone will see this. Just hit 'Yes to All', and you will not see 'that' particular warning again. ALthough other warnings my popup as you work. Again just ignore them as well.

Excellent, thank you for the help.

  3. It's been a long time, so I hope I'm posting this in the right place.

Just started basic on Skyrim had to end session while working on Class 1, opened today and continued following the tut, clicked save and I'm asked to name the Plug-in, as I'm using the Plug-in I created in the last session, what am I doing wrong.

Sort this problem, it's all slowly coming back, but the question below still stands.

Second question, when opening the .esm I get a window saying something about the Masterfile, I just said yes to all, is this normal?

  4. There is only one vanilla Oblivion fireplace. I'm not near my Oblivion computer now, but it's "Kitchen..." something.

The fireplace with the Abandoned Mountain Shack is available as a resource.

Thank you, it's good to know it wasn't me that couldn't find 'them' I've downloaded MEO's now so spoilt for choice.

  5. darkstone that's an excellent idea, thank you for reminding me we have resources :lmao:

vometia - PLEASE :D I've only just finished the basic tuts I've got to decide where to go from here, that's if I ever get finished planting more plants and titivating the house's.

  6. It depends - are you talking about an interior cell? In which case, no, you wouldn't see any unwanted bits (unless you turned off clipping, of course) and it doesn't really make a lot of difference how far something extends as far as the engine is concerned: it certainly seems quite happy with arrangements thousands of units in size.

Finding stuff in CS is definitely a challenge: I agree that the names are often bizarre and unpredictable and it seems it's only experience that really helps. And I always forget them all if I spend any time away from CS. :lmao:

Funny how building stuff in CS is still much easier than in real life though, isn't it? :D

Yes it's an interior cell so from what you say I should be able to put it in and it will be OK.

You would be surprised how many times since I started learning the CS I've been slaving away and thought "I wish life had a CS I could have this finished before bed time". Right I'm going to put that fireplace in now, I just wish I could find other styles that I've seen in houses, shame you can't open one and grab a copy, but they don't seem to come in kit form :o

  7. I use that one - it's what chimneys do. :D I try to make my layouts as logical as possible, so if there's a fireplace downstairs, I have to work around it on the next level; I do this even if the next level is in another cell. Some might say that's getting a bit pedantic, but y'know.

Actually I'm sure there's at least a couple, but I'm hopeless at finding stuff in CS, so someone else will have to confirm... :lmao:

Well that's what you have to do in the real world as well :o I know as I've had to do just that recently.

I'm the same, trying to find stuff in CS is a bit of hit and miss affair, I find many things aren't called what I would call them or in the category I think they would be in. It's only a one floor house and that huuuuuuge chimney stack really put me off, I wasn't even sure it's OK to have that sticking up a mile in the air, would it show like that in the game

  8. Well done! You should consider packing up your shields and releasing them as a static shield resource XD

I was wondering about that, if you think it would be OK I'll do it. When I've converted them all, I'll contact you again if that is OK, as I'm not sure how to pack them all together.

I need to convert a few more as we had family round for the usual Sunday lunch, this is the first time me time I've had today.

One question, I thought I read somewhere that if I used F it would work as the Find option so I could search for 'shields' but it doesn't work and even clicking Edit >>> Find doesn't work, have I misunderstood?

  9. I think I can mange that, I'll have a go tomorrow, well today actually  but I need sleep first.

I really didn't fancy doing so many shields with Decorators Assistant they slide down the wall too fast.

Thanks for the encouragement darkstone, I'm sure you are right these things take ages the first couple of times, then it's a piece of cake, I hope :stare:

  10. I'm probably getting ahead of myself while doing CS tutorial basics companion 1 and cluttering my new basement.

I want to hang shields on the walls, they look great in the CS but they keep falling off in the game can anyone tell me how to make them stick  or point me in the direction of a tut telling me how. I assume it's to do with meshes and havoc, but I haven't a clue what to do if I click on the havoc button.

  11. Remember when we named the cells we were working in? That's how you track your deliberate changes. You simply need to note the cell name or coordinates and then in Gecko keep those intentionally changed cells and ignore the rest. This can be tricky as you may have changed a neighboring cell without realizing it and ignoring it can create a land tear, so be sure you are cleaning a copy of your mod and that you have a backup in case you clean too much. :D

Thanks that has confirmed what I thought, after I went ahead and click ignore for everything highlighted yellow and went to look to find a door hanging in the middle of nothing, I had made a copy as you suggested so no harm done.

Sorry if this is going to be covered soon, but when I was putting in the door markers, I saw a 'horse marker' what is this for?

  12. I'm just working through the above tutorial and have a problem, it says Quote; One by one, toggle ignore on any exterior cells you didn’t mean to change. You also want to toggle ignore on their children, a cell’s children appear AFTER the cell in the list, but the children don’t say (Ignore) when you toggle them.

How do I know if I didn't mean to change anything? As I don't know exactly where these cells are, could the changes be to due to deleting of orange path nodes or when levelling land to put in the stable.

  13. That's great to hear, I was trying to make them very accessible to everyone. :construction:

I've been told I'm a difficult student, one of those that you can't just blindly tell me to do something, I need to know why, what does it do iykwim and you meet that need in your tuts, there's none of that well what did I have to do that for, when will I need to do that when I'm working on my own.

  14. Thanks everyone for the cookies and ice cream, they go well with the strawberry milk and teeth and lip sweets I'm eating :construction:

I have to confess it wasn't my first mod that I've seen in game, but it was MY first house, I've been playing with the CS for a while tarting up those horrible shacks they sell you, but going it alone without tuts was driving me insane and it was a bit hit and miss, the tuts here are brilliant :construction: and it all makes sense now.

  15. I take it back, I just had to go and try out the horse and I did get it over the bridge and into the space available, so now I don't feel guilty about leaving it.

The tutorials are really good, easy to follow, things are explained well and they answer most of my questions that pop up while following them.

  16. Thank you I'll have a go at getting rid of the bullrushes. I must have put my house on the platform differently than you wanted us to as there is no way a horse will go over my bridge and round the corner post to the only space that will accommodate it, so it will have to fend for itself, but I'll compromise and flatten a bit more of the path/land to make it a paddock or something, can't say I noticed small stables or similar, I will have to go and check that out.

Thank you for your excellently written tutorials, I just wish I had realised the tutorial house was actually going to be visible and working in the game I wouldn't have filled it with the first rubbish that came to hand  have no fear I won't let you down I've spent all day redecorating inside and out. Oh! by the way I don't care for the neighbours much and that oblivion gate really brought the price down. XD

  17. First apologises if this is the wrong place to post for help, perhaps a mod can move it if necessary.

I've just finished tutorial #3 and went to have a look at my house in the game, BUT when I walked up to the bridge there are a load of bulrushes in front of it, which I don't see in the CS render window, a couple of questions came to mind, can I get rid of them and how?

Now I've actually put the problem into words things come to mind, perhaps a play is called for while I wait for help, the homework says to add a few plants around the start of the bridge, there's not much point no one will see them amongst all that lot and another question about adding a place for the horse on the platform, is that a serious request, I mean getting the horse across that little bridge!

  18. I found this site by accident when looking for Mod tutorials and joined early last week. I've never done any modding before and I'm currently working my way through the basics #4 is next, I figured as I'd just seen my tutorial house for the first time in game today and it's all working AOK it was time to say hello to everyone.
