  1. Based on this quote from OXM:

" I decided to find the Thieves Guild, which the locals said was in the Ratways beneath Riften. I found my way down to the river that runs though it`s streets and into the labyrinth of tunnels, and was immediately mugged. Luckily, my fire and lightning spells frazzled the thieves, and on one of their bodies I found the Gloves of Pugilism, which dishes +15 to unarmed attack damage. They were incredible. Every other thug in the Ratways went down to two or three blows, mostly finished off by horrific neck-breaking special moves. When i found the Thieves Guild, they didn`t want me. My time was up anyway, so i put my gloves back on and punched their leader in the face."

It appears that indeed Unarmed weapons (or at least gloves and gauntlets that improve your Unarmed damage) and hand-to-hand finishers will be finding their way into the game.

Good news for the Monk fans out there. :D

  2. Open the mod in TES4Edit and use the "Clean Masters" function. So long as your mod does not reference anything in All Natural Base.ESM, the master will be removed.

Otherwise, you will need to rip the master out using Gecko. Same thing, though, you will just need to say "yes" for each prompt it gives you for records that will be deleted.

  3. So far, we have finishing moves, DRAGONZZZZZ!!!1eleventyone!1!one, crafting, barfights, carriages, Thu'um, and an engine update. That is everything completely new that we know about at this point.

Also, since there is an equipment improvement system in Skyrim, it shouldn't be too hard for our crack modding teams to deconstruct it so it can do the same thing in reverse. There is still hope. :simba:

  4. In other news, Bethesda continues their trend of nuking things that aren't broken because they

A: Make the game harder than a cakewalk OR

B: Provide the player with some form of negative feedback, because we are apparently too shallow to be told anything other than how great we are all the time

In this case, the culprit is equipment degradation, which Bethesda has no excuse whatsoever to remove. All that was wrong here was all the clicking needed to repair your gear, but instead of consolidating and streamlining (as in properly, Bethesda has a very poor definition of "streamlining" that they use), Bethesda is once again stripping.

I can really find nothing positive about this change. And I'm getting sick of how Bethesda are so content to remain ignorant of problem features and make no attempt to try to salvage them and make them better. If something doesn't work, it gets nuked, even if no one ever found any issue with it. I've never seen a single complaint about equipment degradation for Oblivion.

All in all, another golden immersion opportunity that Bethesda has decided it wants nothing of. It could have served as an immersion aid, a money sink, and a balancing mechanic. Instead, it's gone.

(By the way, this is all part of my scheme to deliberately keep my expectations for the game low so that the chances of me being disappointed are minimal.)

  5. Is the whole steam thing really enough to stop you from buying Skyrim? I can understand your annoyances, but it isn't that much of a hassle. On the other hand, if you're all considering not buying it because you object morally to steam for whatever reason then that's different.

Still though, no TESV because of steam?

Short version: Valve is using highly unethical and possibly illegal business practices with Steamworks. For many, it's not worth it. They flat out refuse to support a third-party corporation who have made it their objective to test the limits of legal business practices.

And that is the last I will say on this. Back to Skyrim now.

  6. It means you are going to be forced to download the Steam client if you want to play the game if you don't have it yet. And it has to be running in the background at all times.

You must have an internet connection to register your game. (This doesn't matter much, though)

You cannot play the game at all if there is a patch available until you have downloaded the patch.

Valve reserves the right to allow you to play any of your Steamworks games, and the ability to wipe out all your legitimate purchases with a single press of the "ban" button.

Finally, Valve is monopolizing the PC game distribution market. I can see Antitrust lawsuits in their future if this keeps up.

  7. It appears we now have an explanation for the downtime on Bethesda's forums: a security breach occurred today that compromised the password database of the forums. Due to the posed danger, the entire password database has been purged.

If this is your fist time visiting the BethSoft forums today, you will need to reset your password.

Also note that Avatars are disabled for the time being.

  8. Recently found this, and we just can't afford to pass it up.

Wonderful dose of history to be had here. :)

  9. When I try to boot Linux from my Live CD to perform my backup I am getting a BusyBox with the following error message:

"Unable to find medium containing a live file system"

The disc works in the other computer that is used to boot it, and I only have one DVD-ROM drive installed, so can anyone give me a hand with this?
