  1. D`ya think this is something that would help me at this point...or maybe wait till I ge the CS down better?
  2. Right then...it`s off to my favorite dedicated gaming store. They know me pretty well there and will probably get it for me right quick...can`t wait. Many thanks.
  3. Grond did you just call me a tube...? Well, I`ve been called worse...today even. seriously though some things one must keep special, just for the ones he loves most, ya know?
  4. So how do I get my grubby little hands on the discs? If I load one more utility app oblivion`ll flat self destruct. I have to overclock now as it is to try to keep the crashes to a minimum. Thanks for the leads though, I`ve been totally engrossed messing up the scenery over at the CS tut boards, and reading through the mod posts. Very groovey stuff there, so far I`ve lost a total of 4 houses with no interiors, Another is floating about 8 feet off the ground somewhere around Anvil. Ah well, sooner or later I`ll run out of rookie mistakes. Thanks again...see ya.
  5. Yup, that`ll do it. As far as the patch, I`m pretty sure that was the only english version that was compatible with the 64 bit OS. I seem to rember something like 1.2.04 or something close to that. If the game`ll let me in, i`LL go there now to check it. Things`ve cooled off now so I can kick in the overclock for a few hours. This wont take me that long though. Kinda fonny thing happened when I had the house basically positioned and hit "F" to let it fall. It landed nicely and I played around with the orientations a little bit and...I don`t know, but I hit the "F" key again and the whole house jumped up outta the ground so the basement floor was now siting perfectly on the grass. I just had to see this in-game and so exited the CS and went to discover that I didn`t need to import a ladder after all...amusing. Thanks Dark. Back soon. OK I`m back. I`m running patch version 1.2.0416. I did use the Anvil referance to place the house, so that explains it. I gotta go now the RL needs my dubious attention, but in my next session (probably this WE) I`ll have such a running start that Tamriel will never look the same. Thank you my brothers and sisters. Can I buy ya one?
  6. Cheers matey, I`ve learned, and accomplished more today than I have in the last week or so since joining. I followed all the leads Ive gotten so far and managed to place a farmhouse on a point of land in Anvil...now if I could just find it in-game ...ah well sorta like another quest I guess. Lots of priceless info here today, I hope this has been useful to others as well. maybe I`ll try a dungeon next. However if I can lose a whole farmhouse...above ground...well I think you can see my dilema. This gives me stuff to do when my game wont let me in without crashing. I can only overclock for so long untill I have to back out and let the heat die down. I`m heading over to check out the other threads in the modding boards. Once again my many thanks IS, not just you but all the rest who`ve been more than patient with me.
  7. Once more unto the breech. Back I go.
  8. Thanks IS. I don`t mean to monopolize your time. You`ve all given me alot to chew on for now. I can hold off awhile, I`m thinkin, where do I finds the stuff to build with? Like for just a simple wooden structure. single floor, 4walls, a roof, maybe a floor...like that. I`m goin exploring. I found the TES4EDIT. Made very little sense to me, so I just backed on out the way I backed in. See ya. Okay,
  9. Cause you da man...Gimme...Gimme...Gimme...whatever ya toss out here I`ll snap up. Me, and I`ll bet lots of others too. A "Use Info" feature? Musta missed it...back i go. Thanks again. wish i knew how to import my screen captures, a picture says it all...oh well something else for me to hunt up.
  10. Thanks guys. I`ll explore that TES4EDIT lead. I tjought about the undo, but I lust wanted to see if I could actually gat the container where I wanted it with its contents intact. When I saw all the groovey stuff I could have put in, it took a huge ammount of willpower not to load up on amber arrows and the like. I`d love to plant a nice Christmas present in my house in Anvil...or even Skingrad...butI`d hate to break either of those...Maybe my shack in Chorrol....Hmmmmm
  11. OK my first shot at following the CS beginners course was totally interesting, and successful...sorta...While moving the camera view to find the cabinet in The Merchants Inn on top of which i was supposed to place my new container, somehow I slid the entire floor a little to one side. I got it back to where it looked ok, but when I went in-game to find my container I noticed that the basement door has moved to one side. Looking through the 10 inch or so gap it looks like the stairs now go up to the 2nd floor. I didn`t ttry to sneak in to look around and saved out to come here. Man things can really get messed up easily,eh? I`l figure out how to fix it eventually but for now...back to school. Anyone else new to the CS...PAY ATTENTION...nuff said. Any input is more than welcome. If this is the worst mistake I ever have to deal with, I`ll be...amazed.
  12. Quote Quote <------ It is apparently common to use these when welcoming someone. The equivalent to Bethesda's fishy sticks. What we have a Wicket Welcome policy and I don't know about it? How come nobody ever sticks memos under my rock. Welcome aboard Donnato. It's always good to see a new face, and modding can be a whole LOT of fun. I look forward to seeing what your perspective on the game will be. Just be cautious you don't wind up spending your life hunched over your PC screaming when someone cracks a blind and lets in the blinding rays from that infernal burning orb. (AAAaaah, close it, close it)And of course... WTTo late...I`m hooked...!
  13. Cool now I`ve got a reason to go get that passport external hdd. If I download much more of anything, Oblivion won`t run at all. I`ve gotta get this though, thanks-a-bunch.
  14. My bellybutton is puckering and unpuckering just thinking about it...
  15. The KoTN came with my GoTY boxed set...haven`t seen any thing extra though. A lot of 32 bit content will work for me, but if there`s a specific caviat against trying to use it on a 64 I walk. Like I said...if I want it done right...I`m headin over to the CS school ya got down the street.
  16. Looks like I`ll just have to spend the time and learn how to do it myself. You know...if ya want it done right...and all that. Thanks anyway, if ya (or anyone else ) think of anything else, let us know.
  17. Hi guys, I was over checkin out the Bthesda DLC thread site and came up with a question that`s been naggin at me for awhile. When I go to the official Bethesda Elder Scrolls site and start looking through the available DLC, I found some I`d like to get but as i read through the info I found notes at the bottom stating that they weren`t compatable with Vista 64 bit systems. Now granted, that was awhile ago, but I`m curious if there are other sites I`ve been missing?
  18. The waterfalls floored me the first time I stumbled on them. I like to just go in underneath em and kick back imagining that I can smell the freshness and feel the cool air against my scales...Argonians love the wet you know. I`m beginning to think I`m half reptile in the RL,( there may be some who would agree).
  19. Yup, I changed the AllowScreenShot referance in Doc`s. Still can`t screen save with Prt sc. No matter, Fraps works great. I``m now learning about all I can do by importing images to any of my various alteration apps. As soon as I figure out how to import to this venue, you`ll see me with a new avitar ( probably my in-game character). I cannot say enough about how great this place is, thanks.
  20. I believe that`s where I made the change but since you`ve brought it up I`m beginning to doubt. I`ll check it out. In the mean time I downloaded fraps ( only a trial but I`ll take it) AND IT WORKS...i DIDITiDIDITiDIDIT...soooo cool, soooo easy, hit F10 as much as I want then when I exit game, all the shots are there for me to sort. Waaay groovey. Thanks again. That said, now I mst go check that file referance.
  21. Rodger that. MY Asus has a core duo 2.26 GB processor, 320hdd,4GB ram, and NVIDIA 9800M gs card running at 512Mb. It gets alittle hot but doesn`t crash until I reach at least level 20 and there`s multiple opponents on screen...or if the moon is full. And yes Vista home premium w/service pack 2 in 64 bit. I heard about fraps but I thought it was primarrily for video caps. I guess if I could get video out of the game I could then use Snaggit or VLC to do the snapshots. Thanks I`ll check it out.
  22. O.K. I`ve got another one for ya. I followed a thread instructing that I go into the Oblivion.ini file and change b.AllowScreenShot=0, to =1 and save. This I did with surprisingly little effort...but with no change. Using the Prt Sc key still has no effect ( nor does Ctrl+ Prt Sc, or any other combination I copld think of). I have some other screen cap. apps but nothing that`ll work in-game.
  23. Cool, I`ll try the shift key hold. No I haven`t loaded any mods yet. I`m still very new to the modding art. Even though I`ve been playing the Elder Scrolls since Morrowind, I was never exposed to these options. I find all of this very facinating. Thanx, I`ll let you know. Also, I,ve been devouring all the Wiki`s I can find.
